There have not been any main protagonist deaths for a while, I thought there would of been a couple at least in this series.

Wouldn't have been a shock then.

Tbf I think the main 5 are on £1.2m per episode, definitely read it somewhere.

I've seen it mentioned by many people but I've seen a reliable source for it. It represents an absolutely massive chunk of the budget if true.

I love to watch a whole series in a day but there is 0% chance that I would not watch them and not get some twat on Facebook posting a spoiler. I will have to watch it live, and then re watch it on a hungover Saturday again.

I'm in Grenada from the 6th May so going to miss the last few episodes... Going to have to avoid social media at all costs.

I'm struggling to get hyped to be honest. Last season felt like fan fiction to me. The show seemed to dabble with post-book-lore mystery and intrigue for a season, found itself wanting, and then decided to go full action adventure to burn through the rest of the story. Still, it'll be worth watching for the spectacle if nothing else.

Without a doubt will be keeping tabs on this one, I would imagine this means a spinoff show won't air until 2020 at the earliest. It'll be interesting to see what HBO have in mind for the budget and who'll stay on as executive producers.

I'm not too familiar with the majority of the new cast members like other than Naomi Watts.

I think HBO will milk the franchise for all it's worth. When you consider that a HBO subscription costs more than Netflix or Disney+ will do without offering anywhere even close to the same amount of content, it could be that HBO's days are numbered.

Reports are the budget could be huge? The network's senior VP of drama, Francesca Orsi, revealed in a recent panel that HBO has planned a massive budget for the spinoffs. "$50 million (per season) would never fly for what we are trying to do. We are going big,"she said.

It looks like the spinoffs will kick off with a much higher production value. I would imagine my calculations they'll have to be looking at somewhere in the region of $100 million?

With Game of Thrones Season 8. The cost has more than doubled to $15 million per episode.

Only 6 episodes? That's a shame, even if some are 60 minutes longer

Very meh episode, felt like the first movie in a 2 part finale, like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games. Lots of set up, getting certain characters into place, nothing really dramatic happens. Can't imagine Episode 2 will be much different, it'll be mostly set up for the Episode 3 battle I'd imagine.

The tone is not what I expected. They're all pretty relaxed given that the end of the world is on it's way.

Thought we'd see some white walker action to be honest, considering they've just broke through the 300 foot wall.

Very predictable episode tbh.

If you asked me before what would happen, I reckon most people would have predicted about 90% of what happened there

I think they only part that raised my eye brows was (spoiler in white - edited with spoiler function):
when sam said to Jon, "you gave up the crown, but do you think she would do the same?" - I wasn't expecting that, I was expecting some love story, but it's a nice hint that they could turn against each other

Next time you can put any spoilers inside actual brackets. Put [ spoiler ] at the start at your bits you want hidden and [ /spoiler ] at the end, but don't have spaces.

Cheers, I'll edit it now [ I was looking for it as I remember it on the old forum, but couldn't see the option in the quick chat

I don't think we even need spoiler tags in here do we? If you open the thread without being up to date you're kinda asking for it.
