To all the Rowett fanboys on here, go and take a look on DCFCfans. I've always thought that if he failed there, this notion that Rowett's the second-coming of Brian Clough can finally be put to bed.

“Gary has destroyed our playing style; has encouraged a hoof it uncontrolled type of football; prefers physicality to 'players'.”

“Looks lost and out of ideas, and the team was directionless to the point of ineptitude. It was worryingly like he didn’t know what to do and was hiding. For someone so media savvy it didn’t look good.”

“I actually preferred Darren Wassall as manager. And that's saying something.”

“Some indifferent performances, a style of football I’m not enjoying and strange transfer windows has seen me question if he is the manager I was hoping he was.”

“He needs to walk. The worst football I've seen in twenty years is being played by us... disjointed, boring, and slow.”

“McClaren was sacked twice for far less. The football was even better under Clement. Of the last 4 seasons, this has been the one to forget for me.”

Now, I find this really interesting because Rowett is meant to embody what every football manager should adhere to, and yet here are another set of fans who want to see the back of him. Mirroring near word for word what I said when he left Birmingham.

Not defending Rowett at all but Derby seem to implode this time of year whoever their manager is. I doubt even Guardiola would be able to stop the annual end of season collapse at Derby every year.

You use DCFCfans as the basis to prove your point yet fail to include the main poll on there about him being sacked or not, with 60% opting for the no option. 60% being 150 odd people so hardly "another set of fans". As always, the majority of people found on forums are normally the most vocal. It's not bad at the ground where there's 25k most weeks.
Of course there's discontent; two wins since the turn of the year probably puts us bottom of the form table over the past few months.

I've not been happy with the playing style all year but we're Derby County in the Championship at the end of the day, we don't have a divine right to be playing great football. I personally think he's done ok in his first year, we won't finish in the play offs but if we somehow fluke ourselves in there then that'll be a great achievement. Most of us expected 10th and upwards, we look set for that. The worst thing that has happened is the run we went on to get to second, that just raised expectations to a level way above what we were capable of.

The biggest issue for me and many others is that this year was meant to be a transitional one, we'd be ok with finishing mid table if we had blooded some youth and purchased younger players. It's turned out to be another opportunistic season again with ageing players signed which haven't performed. Doesn't put us in a great position for next year, the year after etc.

Managers have been sacked for less at our place but there's absolutely no point in chopping and changing again. Our squad is still a mess, it won't get any better if we bring in another manager with his own ideas/players.

I'll happily give him another year and see where we are then.

You’ve piped up quite loudly in the past few days, after being conspicuously quiet for the better part of 18 months.

My post history disproves that. Quiet in comparison to JJH but I've still been around.

You've genuinely been that wound up over this for the last two years you've tried to seize a short spell where they're on a downwards slide and you're reaping the rewards of a new manager bounce.

Still in denial El Guapo, he was doing a brilliant job for you and if he wouldn't have gone seeking a what he saw as a better job in QPR then you wouldn't be so bitter and twisted about the whole saga.

Rowett done an alright job, not a 'brilliant' one. Brilliant is David Wagner guiding Huddersfield to the Premier League on loans and free transfers.

Why does Garry Monk, who you thought was a ‘shit appointment’, have a higher win percentage in this League with Leeds, Middlesbrough & Birmingham than Rowett currently has with Derby?

I like that Monk has now suddenly become the best manager who ever existed, now that they’ve won a couple of games.

Good job, as paying Jota 40k a week in League One would kill the club.

Enjoy the battle for the playoffs ignore the clown who's Hoping to stay up

We’d have to win games for that. Rowett is the man to get us up, but we need to clear out all the players who’ve been here for all these implosions. Keogh and Forsyth for instance...who just signed lengthy contract extensions ffs.

Because you’ve been hiding since then.
Not everybody has the time or desire to be online for every minute of every day.

I was in the Villa match thread after they beat us, the time to hide would probably have been then.

P.S. You're a dead ringer for Antony Cotton.

With your squad and budget, he was doing a tremendous job, and it's shown since that two other managers have had their hands on the squad plus had money to spend and still couldn't get it right.

Taking nothing away from Wagner but he didn't do it all with frees as well, Schindler cost a couple of million for a start, then Van La Parra, Quaner etc cost a bit if I recall correctly.

I don't think Garry Monk's a shit manager, I said I didn't think it'd fit a club that were struggling to score goals as he's a manager who sets teams up first and foremost to not concede, particularly away from home.

Brilliant stuff. After Guapo celebrated Rowetts sacking, their record in this league has been P65, W14, D13, L38. Gathering just 55 points.

And now after 4 more managers, Brum have finally strung a couple of decent results together, coincidentally at a time of a bad run of form for Derby (who still sit in the play offs, by the way). So you've created this thread to try and somehow justify your original thoughts on the Rowett sacking, thinking maybe we'll all reply with "Wow Guapo, you were so right all along!", despite it still being abundantly clear to everyone else that sacking Rowett is the worst decision your club has made in god knows how many years.

FWIW I find Rowett to be a complete bellend and Monk to be a cowardly dickhead.

For the wages they're paying and the fees they've paid, they looked pretty awful yesterday.

Organised and workmanlike but play pretty much no football.

Did the job though.

Blues were mad to get rid of Rowett, they deserve everything they get. What the fuck they were thinking I don't know.

You have to look at the circumstances with why he was sacked. He wanted out.

After he held talks with Fulham, he came back with an ultimatum of ‘pay me more or I’m off’, Blues improved his salary. Fast-forward one year and he done the same again with QPR, he got offered another contract and refused to commit to the club. If he had not have been sacked he would have left of his own accord anyway. The mistake was appointing Zola.

Very similar when Stoke were interested. Rowett gets heavily linked. He gets a big new contract at Derby.

He was attracting the interest because he was doing a cracking job. I don't blame him for trying to further himself, your old owner didn't have a pot to piss in and in came the new owner who never shows face and has made some brain dead decisions.

You were in a far better place two years ago with Rowett than you are now.

I don't care whether he held you ransom or not, that's not a justification for sacking him. The job he was doing was deservedly getting recognition, more attractive clubs came in for him offering more money; that's how football works El Guapo.

You went right off Aden Flint when he expressed interest in joining Birmingham last summer... follow where the money is, that's how football works?

Not true though is it… Fabbrini (£1.5m), Adams (£2m), etc. Compare that with how Neil Harris is doing at Millwall, assembled his squad on free transfers, and right on course to make the playoffs and a possible successive promotion. Would you blame him if he walked out on Millwall for QPR?

You don't half chat some bollocks El Guapo, if I had flew off the handle about Flint going to Birmingham you'd have had the quotes to hand as always and would've used them against me. Flint never expressed an interest in going to Birmingham, I was willing to accept Flint leaving for the right price as we signed a better centre back in Baker for a third of the price we would have or will get for Flint.

Two examples there, £3.5m is pennies compared to what the rest of the division spend. Harris is an awful example because he's a Millwall fan and is doing a great job, so no he wouldn't join QPR but if a championship club like Wednesday or Norwich came in for him in the summer I'd fully expect him to hear them out as Rowett did, providing Millwall stay down.
