Russell Brand endorses Labour.
This comes across as very egotistical.

Edit: Actually maybe that should say more than usual.

Really? For months he's been telling people to not vote. From that to endorsing a party is a pretty big shift.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I see Cameron cried off yet another debate yesterday. Are his handlers really that scared that he'll put his foot in it or that he won't be able to defend his history?

Career defining indeed.

No-way could I vote for a man who makes less of an impact when talking about his party than Russell bloody Brand.

Not that I would be voting Labour anyway.

London Evening Standard has endorsed the Tories today.

The Independent has said more Tory-LD coalition would be the best outcome.

Bow Group have hilariously mugged the Tories off by saying people should vote UKIP. Heseltine seems to be spitting feathers about that one.

Really weird endorsement from the Indie. It's a hopelessly muddled editorial too. They say, for example, that they favour another Con-LibDem Coalition but "hope it's much less conservative, and much more liberal." Well good luck to you on that but everyone knows the Lib Dems are going to lose numbers (and therefore influence in any prospective coalition) so I think it may be a somewhat vain hope! Lebedev's obviously been all over this. He's only going to end up alienating the paper's largely left-of-centre readership though (which is hardly that stellar to begin with).

Think there's likely to be a flurry of final polls tomorrow/Thursday AM. Most recent ones are still showing the race as neck and neck. Lib Dems look to have recovered by a % or two. I think it possible that they'll finish on similar figures to UKIP.

Heh, just read the comments below the line on their website. Not many happy bunnies. Isn't it wonderful how our much vaunted free press falls largely under the control of millionaire tax cheats?

This is going to be a really interesting Election in regards to whether it goes as the polls do or not because unlike any other election this is going to be full of lots of Tactical voting which could sway plenty of things. Plus I believe there is a lot of people quite wary of saying who they are voting for......especially I think Lib dem and UKIP voters who won't say they are voting either when they may be going to due to the negative reaction either bring.

add in I think this Scottish poll may be taken off the same highish number turning out like the Indep vote and whether it does show as high or go back to the low slump levels the rest of UK has.

plus of course be interesting with the Main Wales only and Scotland only parties getting a more established coverage (In a sneaky, devious move by the conservatives) it'll be interesting if that does give them stronger showings in their own countries.

very very interesting, I shall be up till 2-3am seeing what happens.

I never thought we'd get here, seems like it's been going on forever - finally the last day is here that we have to turn on the news and listen to them all crossing the country spouting bollocks in a desperate attempt to win votes. I shall get up in the morning and wonder down the road, put my tick in a box and then sit back and watch them all squabble over who can do a deal with who. Maybe even get to see Cameron and Milliand fight each other outside Buckingham Palace to see who gets to ask Queeny first if they can form a Government.

Maybe in the throne room she'll order the Queen's guard to pike the lot of them, then whisper into Cameron's ear "in the game of thrones you win, or you die", before reinstating the British Empire and conquering Belgium.

It could happen.

The worst is yet to come though isn't it? After tomorrow, we're going to have weeks of negotiations and hearsay gossip about who is teaming up with who. I'm dreading it to be honest.

Sounds good to me EG. Certainly make the 6 o'clock news more interesting!

I envisage Friday morning being like the opening of a sale at NEXT.

All the party leaders will queue up outside at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. Then at 5am, the doors will be opened and they'll all rush inside and see what they can get their hands on.

Terrible Terrible article in the DailyMail today which really should be not allowed.

It in easier words has named 50 seats with directions for people to Tactical vote to keep tories in power.

while I expect it is going to be a tactical vote election, the newspapers should not be allowed to lead people into it in an extremely biased way.

I really dislike the whole notion of tactical voting. I have had leaflets through from both Libs and Tory urging me to not vote for Labour as it's a wasted vote and will help the other party to victory. I find negative campaigning pretty low (from all sides I must add). Tell me why I should vote for you, not why I shouldn't vote for the alternative(s).

Yeah it's best to just avoid newspapers all together immediately pre-election, because you'll not get anything sensible out of any of them. And if they're all guilty, well you have to expect the Mail to top the lot somehow.

Miliband wants to implement Leveson doesn't he?

The press' attacks on him are probably worse than those on Kinnock in the early 90s.

I think your point C & B is why at present I've swung to Labour over conservative.

I went into 2015 thinking I'd give this lot another go, but the last few months has just seen a full on attack of fear or a blame game to try and dictate voting.

that and dodging questions about the tough decisions made in the last 5 years which I find baffling considering like myself people who voted for Tory last time knew those horrible decisions had to be made.

I'm tending towards Tory. Fix the roof while the sun is still shining and all that, I get the feeling Labour will leave us in a terrible position for a future market crash and we won't be able to borrow ourselves out of trouble like last time. Austerity is fun for nobody, but I think quite necessary. Wouldn't be surprised to see another election not long down the line though.

Out of interest, what has the current government done to protect us against a future collapse of the banking system/market crash?

Austerity has been fine for the rich though hasn't it? Seeing as they made money. It's been alright for me to really. The people I've seen suffering have all been at the bottom mainly.

Also this was a good read but in the guardian so probably bias.

It's more what Labour will do. We can't afford to keep borrowing money, we should be building a surplus now whilst the worldwide economy is still fragile before there is another crash - and there will be. The Conservatives have had little chance of not running up more debt now due to the crash, but now the economy is turning around it doesn't make sense to go back in another direction. It's Keynesian economics, to save in the good years to spend in the bad. Labour have shown in the past to spend in the good years and in the bad. If they do it again it's playing with fire.

Austerity is always going to hurt people in the short term. It's easy to see why it is unpopular and I don't always agree with how it's been applied, but it's a short term hit to make a long term gain. The other option is that we keep on spending with no guarantee that it will increase growth, sitting in even deeper debt and making us more vulnerable to a crash and with no confidence in the economy at all. Welcome to Greece.

Or cut tax loopholes, clamp down on avoidance/evasion, make companies pay decent wages etc.

Austerity isn't needed. A backbone is.
