and St.Pauli and 1860 both lost their home matches. Seems that there are serious problems now at both clubs.

Hannover lost at Union Berlin and that is now the chance for Eintracht Braunschweig to widen the gap between Hannover (and Stuttgart, who are on candidate for the automatic promotion places regardless their 5-0 loss at Dresden). Eintracht plays tomorrow against #16 Kaiserslautern.

--------

In the 1.Bundesliga Bayern again only with a draw although they played most of the time with man more. Frankfurt even scored against Bayern when they were reduced, a very rare thing.
RB Leipzig now on #3 only 2 points less than Bayern.

Missing two pens when you win is not too bad but ...disappointing but we were not the only ones to do that this weekend...

You know, I am really happy that Gladbach were so kind to miss 2 penalties. It was the only way for the HSV to get a decent result. They are uncapable to score goals (or even create good chances) at the moment. 2 Goals in 7 matches this looks like our worst seasons 2-3 years ago.

To Gladbach: I am hoping they "saved" all the goals for the CL match against Celtic. It's vital that they don't lose any of those 2 matches (maybe even win one or two) for securing #3 spot in this group. I'll keep my fingers crossed because Gladbach is one of the other Bundesliga Clubs that I really like.

I agree, they could do a job in the Europa League if given an opportunity, not like last season!
We also gifted S04 last time out as well so we are looking after the bottom teams...

Said this time and time before that relegation would not be a particularly bad thing for the club. Fans are bored of the Buli Zwei and promotion won't come any time soon with the shits in charge. Go down to the 3rd tier and finally win something like the title. Would at least make for a change.
St Pauli can go down as well. A lot of 3rd division fans would relish a trip to Milerntor next season.

HSV vs Eintracht Frankfurt 0-3

Utterly disappointed about the performance. So far the new coach has done nothing 3 Games, 1 point, 0-5 Goals
They can't create chances, 2 Goals in 8 matches, maybe they should bring in Uwe Seeler out of retirement. He's now 80 but I am sure he's still better than the crap we have actually as so-called "striker"

Dortmund got it back to 3 all but more points dropped if they want to climb back up the table.

Today were the first games of the 2nd round of the German Cup (DFB Pokal). Biggest surprise was again 3rd League Lotte. In the first round they won against Werder Bremen and now they defeated even Bayer Leverkusen with 4-3 after Penalty Shootout :2thumb:

The Cup is momentarily the only way for the HSV to win (and score). We won at 3rd League Hallescher FC with 4-0. After the 1-0 win at Zwickau now the 2nd East German Club out of the Cup thanks to the "mighty" HSV. ;)

All results (so far):

DFB-Pokal 2016/17, der 2. Spieltag

The 9th matchday begins today with Gladbach vs Frankfurt. Frankfurt improved from last years very poor season which saw them in the relegation playoff match against Nürnberg. Gladbach actually only in 10th position in the Bundesliga and (maybe) already with a focus on next weeks decisive Champions League match against Celtic. Should be interesting to see how they'll play this one. I expect a draw.

The biggest match this weekend is, of course, the traditional "Revier-Derby" between Dortmund and Schalke. Schalke with a catastrophic start in the season but in the last matches they found their form (in the Europa League they found it right from the beginning with 3 wins). This is difficult to predict because Dortmund has lost a bit of their season beginning momentum. On Tuesday in the Cup match against 2nd Bundesliga team Union Berlin they could only win after penalty shootout. But I think they'll win this one 2-1.

ah, yes and my HSV has to play in Cologne. What shall I write now? I'll pray, maybe? :ffs:

edit: Just as predicted above: A (boring) 0-0 draw between Gladbach and Frankfurt.

Can some statto tell me when was the last time 1860 scored 6 goals? I went back to 2011/12 but could only find a 5-0 win.

That 6-2 win over Aue was very important. Not only does it enable us to take our distance with the relegation zone, it means we go above Aue and enjoy the best goal difference of the bottom (bar Sandhausen) as it stands. A very good surprise.

Elsewhere Braunschweig lost at Dresden so Union can close the gap at the top to 2 points if they beat Düsseldorf today. I would absolutely love Union in the Buli. Would be a wonderful, wonderful day.

Oh and a word from St Pauli who are rooted to the foot of the table with only 5 points from 10 games: in 2002/03, they finished second bottom and got relegated and after 10 games had more points (8) than this season. Things are looking bleak, very bleak for Millerntor. Not sure why.

Top of the Bundesliga (excluding Bayern) is crazy so far this year. Granted its early days but still. And Dirk; do you reckon Hamburg could go down this year?

For those who don't know this or can't be arsed to google it, his sig says that Hamburg are unrelegatable.

Union lost at home to Düsseldorf. Balls!

Yes, that's what "his" sig says.

And in a bit more than 2 hours we'll see that it's the truth because the HSV will get a result in Cologne :£

Finished 3-0, Modeste with a hat-trick.

Amazing Hamburg have only scored two goals this season.

Amazing Hamburg have only scored two goals this season.

.....and has now more red cards than goals after 9 matches :bang: (don't know if this is a new Bundesliga record ;) )

Bobby Wood with a red card after 58 minutes, one minute later Köln scored the 1-0. So, thank you for this Wood.
Tbh Köln was better and deserved the win, although 3-0 was a bit too much but 30 minutes with 10 men knowing you can hardly score ....
But the first half was a decent one of the HSV and Köln had some problems with it. But it doesn't help, another match without a goal, now the 7th in a row

Must be!

Still feel Labbadia deserved a bit more time - a relatively stress-free season last year while this year..well, that record may be going after all!

Loving it at the top - disappointing that Dortmund have been so hurt by injuries and Tuchel's rotation policy is probably not helping much either. Don't think anyone would have predicted a top 5 without any of BVB, Gladbach, Leverkusen, Schalke and Wolfsburg at this point in the season.

Wolfsburg were pretty bad last season. It all went to pieces with De Bruyne's departure really.

Indeed - but I included them for the people who don't really follow the Buli and so probably still think they're half decent ;)

Agree about KDB - huge whole that they've not filled. Draxler hasn't had anywhere near the impacted they were hoping for, in my opinion. Interested to see who they get in - think AVB would be an interesting one.

Tomorrow: Hamburger SV vs Borussia Dortmund

Normally, you expect another loss of the HSV (and maybe again without goals, for the 8th time in a row) but:

1.HSV won 3 of the last 4 matches in Hamburg against Borussia (plus 1 Draw). So we are a kind of "Angstgegner" (don't laugh) for the Borussia ;).

2. It's Uwe Seeler's 80th birthday. Our HSV Legend and one of only 4 honorary Captains of the National-team. So my wish for the birthday of "Uns Uwe" (Our Uwe):
Fight for your lives (yeah a bit pathetic, I know) and give him (and us HSV fans) something to enjoy at this special day. Don't dare to lose this one!!!!

Happy Birthday, Uwe!

Gladbach not getting the results and not playing particularly well either, recipe for a long season currently methinks . . .

Hertha BSC was simply better, Gladbach had a short good phase in the first half but then Patrick Hermann got an injury and had to leave (hopefully it isn't serious because he was injured for months not long ago) and then Christoph Kramer got a second yellow and with 10 men you can't do anything against Hertha.
It's so sad that Hertha had a bad match in the Europa League Qualifyer against Brondby and couldn't qualify. In this actual form they would be a real treat for the others.
