Perfect week for Hamburg!!!! :brill:
3 wins in 7 days (2 League, 1 Cup) 6:0 Goals, First Bundesliga Club to win at Leipzig (and a revenge for the 0-4 in Hamburg). First time since Matchday 2 that Hamburg is out of the Bottom 3.
Another interesting fact: In the last 8 matches only Bayern got more points than HSV!
Leipzig even had his best players available again (Forsberg after the red card and Sabitzer and Werner after illness) but couldn't create a big chance. The HSV defence with valuable Winter-signings (Papadopoulos (again a goal) and Mavraj (and the Brazilian Walace)). The first 2 matches after the winter break weren't good and stopped a bit the momentum but this last week was the best I've seen from HSV for years!

And what makes this matchday even better: Arch rival Werder Bremen lost at home against Gladbach and swept places with HSV.

#18 Darmstadt wins 2-1 against #4 Dortmund.
#17 Ingolstadt held a 0-0 against #1 Bayern until the 90th minute (but then got 2 in 2 minutes).
Out of form Leverkusen dominated #3 Eintracht Frankfurt and wins 3-0.

Bremen was cold and shit. Gladbach the better team and we left early coz it was too cold. Had to pinch myself when I heard about the HSV scoreline though!

St Pauli was cold but pretty cool. We didn't have a ticket but were able to get one at 40€ a pop. Was disappointed by the lack of noise of the Dresden fans. Thought they'd be real loud but I just didn't hear them (despite being 5000 of them). Also, a very important win for St Pauli, only their 2nd at Millerntor.

Disappointing for BM but Schalke seem to have their best form for Europe!

Borussia Dortmund vs VfL Wolfsburg:
This is the match where we will see the closure of the South-tribune (yellow wall) due to the incidents at the RB Leipzig match.
So the crowd for this match will go down 25.000 from 81.000 to 56.000. Although there will be approx. 30% less spectators the Police has increased the contingent at the stadium. This match is considered to be a "risk match" internally (the RB Leipzig match wasn't), although Wolfsburg Fans are normally harmless (or absent ;) ) but they don't want to take any risks.

HSV at home against Freiburg. Hopefully they'll continue the good trend of the last 3 matches.

Expect a nail-biter tomorrow at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The mighty HSV is coming.

Bayern vs HSV

The last 6 results in Munich: 0-5, 0-8, 1-3, 2-9, 0-5, 0-6 that's a narrow 3-36 Goals (0.5 : 6 Goals per game)

The overall record in the Bundesliga is : 103 matches: 19W-22D-62L (101-232 Goals)

The first leg in Hamburg was lost 0-1 (in the last minutes). I am so confident about it..:sur:

ffs, bloody Wolfsburg lost 1-2 at home against Werder Bremen. Not that I like Wolfsburg but now Werder is again better than HSV.
Wolfsburg could've won 2 matches with the amount of chances they had. 27 Goalchances, Season record (even Bayern didn't reach that so far.....maybe after todays match ;) ). Hilarious.

Expect a nail-biter tomorrow at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The mighty HSV is coming.

0-5, 0-8, 1-3, 2-9, 0-5, 0-6 ....and 0-8 again today. Told you it was a nail-biter (which was: Avoiding double digits :D)

Wolfsburg sacked its coach again this season. After Dieter Hecking (now Coach at Gladbach) in October 2016 they sacked Valerien Ismael on Sunday. Wolfsburg couldn't escape the relegation zone under Ismael .
His stats: 15 Matches - 5 Wins - 1 Draw - 9 Losses..... reminds me a bit of my HSV in the last years.

On Monday they want to show the new coach. Ranieri is available :D

Shit happens....again. HSV lost 1-2 against Gladbach due to 2 stupid penalties. Idiots!!!!

Bayern actually unstoppable. Thank God for Schalke they stopped their pace after leading 3-0 at half-time otherwise it could've been a "HSV-worthy" (see above) result at the Allianz Arena again.

Semi-final Draw :

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern München vs Winner of SF Lotte/Borussia Dortmund

Yeah "but" :D Either Bayern or Dortmund then in the Final. But under new coach Dieter Hecking they are actually "unstoppable" away from home....and Berlin is away ;)

tbh: Now that the HSV is out of the Cup I'll keep my fingers crossed for Gladbach.

Bayern's second against Schalke is one of the reason why I reckon they'll win the CL. Superb weigh of the pass by Ribéry for Lewandowski who rounds the keeper and then crosses for Alcantara. The Brazilian doesn't really have to jump and his header is perfectly placed. An exquisite goal, one that no other team can score in Europe imo.

Yep, you can quote me on that bitches.

32 Goals so far in the 7 matches of the 23rd matchday. New season-record....and the HSV hasn't even played yet :D

Dortmund vs Leverkusen 6-2 (unfortunately Reus again injured and out for the CL match against Benfica)
Hoffenheim vs Ingolstadt 5-2. Curious match, Ingolstadt even 2-1 in front after 60minutes. But I am happy about the scoreline, means Ingolstadt still covers the direct relegation place

Gladbach vs Schalke 4-2 : Just before their Europa League clash in a few days Gladbach have shown that they are back on track with new coach Dieter Hecking.

Todays matches: HSV vs Hertha, Eintracht Frankfurt vs SC Freiburg

Are these games on the German version of Sky/BT as they don't seem the most attractive of games for a neutral?

(sorry of course HSV are very attractive!)

In Germany there seems to be a wider spread of teams shown...

Is that because everyone gets a bit bored of Bayern?

You can watch all Bundesliga matches live on Sky (Germany). They have various channels (Bundesliga1, 2,...) where they show the matches. Or you can watch the Simulcast Channel where they show all the matches at once and always switch to the other matches when something important happens (sometimes the "Goal" cry from the commentators from the several stadiums comes at the same time :D )

No that's not the reason. Just to give the paying customer what they want.

Not sure they have another guy lined up. I liked Roger. Reckon he'll get another good job fast. He's a decent manager.

Sincerely disappointed in Voller if he thinks that swapping managers will suddenly change everything. I get that Schmidt has had his time at Leverkusen but replacing him with a guy who failed everywhere he coached (granted, tough places to coach - Hannover and Kaiserslautern - but aren't they all?) will most certainly backfire. Leverkusen may be 10th but they are just 5 points from Europe (Frankfurt in 6th) and Schmidt could have turned things around. What I fear is that Korkut may get Leverkusen back up the table (new guy effect, players more motivated etc) but will find that this guy simply doesn't have the bottle for such a demanding club (I'm not saying big club because they're nothing without Bayer). Leverkusen may be the RBL of yesterday but Bayer still expect CL every season.
Good luck to Korkut but I wish the board would have had a think before acting.

Rudi Völler was a great striker for Germany and even in his short stint as Bundestrainer he wasn't that bad. But in his role at Leverkusen he isn't nearly as good. Always the same stories from him after Leverkusen failed again. And sacking Schmidt was the wrong decision. Yes he backed him for a long time even when Schmidt acted like an idiot with his rants at other managers but he's still one of the better coaches available (nationally). And tbh the 2-6 loss at Dortmund which led at the end to his sacking was way too high. They could've draw this at some point in the 2nd half but suddenly lost it all. This was stupid behaviour (like against Atletico) but it can happen against a team like Dortmund.

The new coach Korkut has a contract until the end of the season. For him it's a possibility to show that he can manage a Bundesliga team. But when you sack a coach you don't normally give the new one a contract only for a few months unless it's the coach from the youth team who makes it for a time. For me it looks like that they wanted another one but this one denied and so they went for Korkut. Not for a second I believe that he was their favourite one because then they would've given him a longer contract immediately.

Considering our start I was hoping nicking a win yesterday might put us in with a good chance of qualifying for Europe again, will probably have to win the EL now...
