A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
I heard on the guardian podcast this week about how they signed a deal selling their 50% share of the Allianz Arena to Bayern for some paltry sum a few years back, as a short term financial solution to a crisis back then. Obviously next time an issue came up that's one ace they no longer held.

Peter Bosz new manager at Dortmund.

Risk or a good choice?

Good choice. Should continue the youth focus there. Started off with the signing of Maxi Philipp from Freiburg on a five year deal.

Yes, I think it's a good choice, too. For the same reason yellow just mentioned. Dortmund like Ajax has many young talents (and they even get some new ones too with the mentioned Philipp from Freiburg and some french player (name just slipped my mind and I am too lazy to google now).

Peter Bosz knows the German Football well enough, speaks perfect German , he even played in the Bundesliga at Hansa Rostock (although only 1 season and 14 matches). And he's a very likeable man (at least that's the impression I get. Right before both matches in the Europa League between Schalke and Ajax he went to the German tv commentators to answer their questions. He did it even in German (normally dutch coaches are a bit "niggly" when they talk to German journalists and mostly then speak Dutch or English (although nearly all of them speak German and understand it very well ). So for me it's a good choice.

Schalke 04 sacked Coach Markus Weinzierl after a mediocre season which saw them finishing out of the places for european competition (although they made it this year to the quarter finals where they lost in extra time against later finalist Ajax). They replaced him with a 31 year old named Domenico Tedesco (which means German (Deutsch) in Italian :D ) from 2nd Bundesliga side Erzgebirge Aue. Another "young and wild one"?

Furthermore: Bayer Leverkusen hired Heiko Herrlich as their new coach. Herrlich just made it to the 2nd Bundesliga with Jahn Regensburg. A pity that they lose him now but on the other side it's understandable that he grabs the chance to coach a Bundesliga team.

Serge Gnabry has signed for Bayern Munich.
Arsenes Pogba? Not quite but £5mill to Werder looks poor business.

Arsenes Pogba? Not quite but £5mill to Werder looks poor business.

The transfer fee became contractual last year. Werder had to accept this otherwise Bayern would've offer Arsenal a sum that Werder couldn't do. So Bayern stayed away last year to get Gnabry directly from Arsenal but they had the right to sign Gnabry after 1 year (in which he gets playing time at Werder which he would never get at this amount at Bayern).
Last year Werder denied that such a deal was involved with Bayern and now exactly this happened.
Gnabry is on a good way and I hope he won't be another Bayern Benchwarmer like so many young talents. He needs playing time otherwise the World Cup will be without him. Maybe he'll be on loan to another club for sometime next season if he can't make it into Bayern first team.....(HSV would be pleased to get you, Serge :D )

Of course they will ;). The Champion will open the season at home. (Fingers crossed that it's not the HSV they are playing against in the first match of the new season :conf: )

I thought that was the case. Generally tend to open up by hitting 4+ past some poor buggars don't they. I think it'll be Frankfurt this time.

Congratulations to Bundestrainer Joachim Löw for winning for the 100th time in his 150th match today (3-1 against Cameroon in the Confed Cup)
Nice one, Jogi. So Germany wins 2/3 of the matches under him.

His stats:

150 Matches : 100 Wins - 27 Draws - 23 Losses
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Competition Matches (WC, Euro, Confed Cup, Qualifier): 92 Matches: 72 Wins - 11 Draws - 9 Losses
Friendly Matches: 58 Matches: 28 Wins - 16 Draws - 14 Losses

Germany loses only approx. 10% of the Competition matches but nearly 25% of the meaningless friendlies ;)

Still lost to us though.

Yes, for the first time since the World Cup 1958 in a knockout match. And what was the result of this win? France already thought they had won the Euro 2016 and lost against Portugal in the final (same like us when we beat the Italians in the Quarterfinals for the first time ever in a tournament match:ffs::fl:)

Anyone on here had experience of getting tickets through a ballot? I've never done it before - is it standard procedure that you give card details and choose your seats (and then it brings up the total amount to pay) before you've even got the tickets?

No experience with that kind of ticket buying, yellow. I am always buying my season ticket right from the HSV.

The DFL just terminated the 2017/18 Bundesliga Schedule. The 55th Bundesliga Season will start with the match between Bayern vs Bayer on Friday 18th August:
    • FC Bayern München - Bayer 04 Leverkusen
    • TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Werder Bremen
    • Hertha BSC Berlin - VfB Stuttgart
    • SC Freiburg - Eintracht Frankfurt
    • Borussia Mönchengladbach - 1.FC Köln
    • Schalke 04 - RB Leipzig
    • Hamburger SV - FC Augsburg
    • 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Hannover 96
    • VfL Wolfsburg - Borussia Dortmund
HSV with a home match. Thank God (although last season we began also with a home match (1-1 against later relegated Ingolstadt) and that was a season I don't want to have again (2 points from the first 10 matches)

Ok, terminated seems to be the wrong term so let's say....."The DFL just scheduled...." My bad (sometimes I think the German word has the exact same meaning in English like in this case "terminieren - terminated" ;) )

Yes, I know it now and I know that you don't make faults in English. Never ever.....
As I wrote before I made the mistake to "translate" the German word 'terminieren" (which is the correct word in German for setting dates/meeting (and here in this case for setting schedules)" right into the english word "terminate" which is wrong here.
I corrected it after seeing the "Terminator" pic from Jimjams (which is a sympathetic way to show me my mistake better than to lecture me or show me my limitations in English. I know that I am far from perfect in English but I am trying to learn).

Anyway, let's stop this here and zurück zum deutschen Fußball ;) :

RB Leipzig seems to get french U-20 international Jean-Kevin Augustin from PSG for approx. 13m Euro. He's making his medical check and when everything is okay he'll get a 5 year contract.
The Saxons already have 3 players in their team with "french league experience" in Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano and Konaté

It's important for me that I show the world my German expertise.

I really do miss living in this country sometimes. Heard the news about 1860 starting in the Regionnaliga Bayern? Would have been elated to do away days in that division!

Oh shit, Bayern got James Rodriguez from Real Madrid. 2 year loan with a option to buy him. That's a good deal for Bayern (and no good news for the others ;) )

The "Anthony Modeste" Saga at Cologne is going on and on. First it was said he'll be on his way to China (Modeste even flew to China but later said he doesn't want to play in China and never said he wanted to leave Cologne. Then suddenly it was said that Modeste cancelled the deal because of a "penalty tax" he could have to pay to Cologne :D and Cologne made their training camp in Austria without Modeste. Now Modeste applies for a restraining order to go into the training camp....... Kölle Alaaf....(Carneval)

Great deal for Bayern, they always seem to handle their business so efficiently.

The German stereotype in action, right Dirk?

Right, steven. And (the 2nd stereotype: ) Bayern's Bundesliga Opponents reacted totally humourless about this deal ;)

edit: HSV has updated it's season aims: Seems we won't win the title now with James in the Bayern Squad. The new aim is avoiding double digits in Munich

Does anyone get this Rodriguez deal? I mean Real are strengthening a direct rival for CL in this deal. Or do they have some kind of clause that says he can't play against them? Is that even possible in a UEFA comp?
I mean what the actual fuck?

It isn't possible no.
As for the deal its probably the only way they see themselves getting rid. People arent exactly rushing to sign him.
