About the kick-off times in the Buli Zwei, I don't particularly mind attending games at this time of day. Remember taking a train dead early (probably 4am) from Munich to go to a Sechzig away game at Union Berlin. Was a great day out. Playing in the middle of the day enables you to get there early, go to the game, have a wander around (alright drinking) and have a snooze on the train back.

Can't believe you lost 0-5 at home though. You didn't get that pillaged even in the top division! There's always the next game though. Englische Woche this week so try not to get ramschalked (that's right I invent verbs!) at Fürth (who are actually having a decent start) tomorrow evening.

Let's talk about the Buli now. Currently watching a horrible Schalke side losing 0-1 at Freiburg. They weren't that bad against Bayern considering the opposition but lose this one and it's 5 losses in as many games. Many they'll do a Hamburg...

Gladbach had a similar worse start with 5 losses in 2015 and Lucien Favre pissed off, then they hired Andre Schubert and won the next 6 (and even reached the Champions League). And the next season they sacked Schubert too.
Don't know what it is actually at Schalke. They need a win urgently no matter how dirty or cheesy to build confidence.

same awful start to the league as we had 2016 ( 5 losses) and 2010.

we had always great cup campaigns when we started that worse in the league. 2011 Cup winner and cl-semi-final. and 2017 europa league QF where we went anlukcy out vs Ajax after extra time due to some abysmal decisions by the ref.

Ja, wunderbar, that Bayern lost 0-2 in Berlin.
Not the best week for the Bazis with only 1 out of 6 points and so they lost their lead at the Bundesliga (only temporarily of course. We all know that they're back there asap. it's inevitable).

Anyway for the moment Dortmund got the lead with a just reached 4-2 away win at Leverkusen. Together with the 7-0 against Nürnberg in Midweek they got impressive 11 Goals and 6 points from this week).

Werder has a really good team actually (hope none of my HSV mates are reading here )
although they lost 1-2 in Stuttgart (with a slapstick goal from Stuttgart Goalie Ron Robert Ziegler) but this was premium football. Very entertaining match (and I like the end-result ).

2nd Buli: Tomorrow is one of the rare days that we meet St.Pauli in a league match. In Hamburg it's of course the main topic for weeks now. Sell out crowd at the Volkspark, 57.000 expected.

I have to go to bed early today that I don't come at the last moment again to the Volkspark (like last week against Regensburg). 1:30pm (12:30pm UK) kickoff again. Fucking hate this.

If we lose this I won't be here for a few days!

I doubt a couple of mocking comments on a football message board will be as hard to take as the glee St Pauli fans will have about beating you on your own patch (if indeed St Pauli take the game today).
Is there any trouble in those games? St Pauli pride themselves on being the coolest club in the history of the world so doubt it but it's a derby and the sides barely ever play each other. Last time these two squared up in the league, St Pauli won at Hamburg 1-0, just sayin'...

yes, a little bit. I personally don't have anything against St.Pauli or their fans (mentioned it) but some of the HSV Ultras don't see it like me (and vice versa some of the St.Pauli Fraction neither). As long as it's only a bit of banter it's okay but I hope it doesn't escalate in violence

The "Capo" (don't know the englisch word for "Einpeitscher") even spoke to some team members A bit "martially" when he tells them that they're "wearing the HSV rhombus deep in their hearts and would be dying for the club" but hey they're "hot" about this game (at the end of the video they "chant" "Scheiß, St.Pauli""

Watched the Hamburg St Pauli match and it was a drab affair, but with so many derby games failing to live up to expectations, it was only to be expected I guess. Both teams were more concerned with not losing to their rivals so entertainment was in short supply

Having said that, and to be completely honest,I did expect something more from Hamburg. I mean they are the stronger side and were playing at home so I expected to see more attacking intent on their part.

yes, as mentioned. The atmosphere in the stands was great but the match was dull.

I bet we would've seen a better match when it was played the sunday before (instead of the unreal 0-5 loss against Regensburg). This loss totally rattled the team. You could see it in the midweek 0-0 at Fürth and now against Pauli. We were in a very good flow before this but this team is young (the youngest in the BuLi2) and this happens. Now we must see that we don't lose contact to Köln (although I don't mind if we end up 1st or 2nd (even 3rd when promotion is guaranteed after the playoff matches )

Dortmund is on fire and Paco Alcacer the loan striker from Barcelona actually the hottest one.

6 Goals in his first 3 Bundesliga-Matches that has happened only once before in the Bundesliga. In 1963 when HSV Striker Gert "Charly" Dörfel did the same.
But Alcacer hasn't yet played a full match, 3-times substituted between the 60th and 70th minute. So, not even 90minutes at all.

Dortmund scored 18 Goals in the last 4 matches (7-0, 4-2, 4-3 in the BuLi and 3-0 in the Champions League against Monaco)

And Bayern?
Lost their 2nd BuLi match in a row, now even at home with 3-0 against Gladbach. Combined with the 1-1 draws against Augsburg and Ajax in the CL , they are now winless in 4 matches.

Stuttgart sacked Coach Korkut. The usual thing. He saved them last season and they made it nearly to the Europa League places but this season they are mostly clueless (except last weekends win against Bremen)

Yep, Paco Alcacer is the leading goalscorer in the Buli despite having never started a game and not even completed 90 minutes coming off the bench which a goal every...13 and a half minutes! That's right!

And this guy, Michael Reschke, the sporting director, is a lying twat. Just after the match on Saturday evening he told the press that they have faith in the coach and only hours later he sacked him on Sunday morning. And then he has even the nerve to say that he only told a "fib".
I know that these "we have faith" remarks are nowadays worthless in professional football and although Korkut is one of those "one season wonders" this is a shite behaviour from the sporting director.

re "one season wonders": My "2nd love" Eintracht Braunschweig, actually bottom of 3.Liga (makes my heart bleeding) has sacked coach Petersen and replaced him with another one of those "one season wonder" coaches, Andre Schubert, former St.Pauli and especially Gladbach coach. This is a good move and I really like this guy. Good to see him back .

and, not to forget: Torsten Lieberknecht, former Eintracht Braunschweig coach for many years and sacked after the relegation to 3.Liga (and replaced by the now sacked coach Petersen) has another job too at 2.Bundesliga bottom placed MSV Duisburg (nicknamed: Zebras). They were winless and right in his first match they won away at Köln. That's football

HSV again on Sunday and again at this (for me) early kickoff time. Brings my whole sunday routine in turmoil these sunday Buli2 kick off times. Hopefully I have to endure it only one season. Playing against Bochum who once, like the HSV, had the "attribute" of "UNABSTEIGBAR" (maybe best translated as "unrelegatable" although I don#t know if this word even exists in english) until they were relegated for the first time and then became more of an "up and down" team and now are more established in the Buli 2 (a warning example for HSV)

in the Buli1 we have interested matches, too. Bayern away at Wolfsburg. I am sure they'll win this one after their (mini) crisis. Dortmund away at Stuttgart (with new coach Markus Weinzierl) and Schalke against Werder Bremen (actually on very good form, unfortunately)

The English youngsters are enjoying their stay in the Bundesliga!

Jadon Sancho again with a goal in Dortmund's 4-0 win at Stuttgart and Reiss Nelson even with 2 Goals in Hoffenheim's 3-1 away win in Nürnberg (now they lose even at home after getting hammered 1-7 and 0-6 away. )

Guys, if you don't get enough playing time in the Premier league come to the Bundesliga, it's good for your development!

Yesterday the other promoted team, Fortuna Düsseldorf was already hammered 1-7 in Frankfurt. Jovic with 5 Goals and Dieter Müller, the only Bundesliga striker who once shot 6 Goals in a match, 41 years ago, was in the stadium and was later interviewed and said that he was happy that Frankfurt's Coach Adi Hütter surely didn't know about this record otherwise he wouldn't have substituted Jovic 5 minutes before the end to give him a standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd. Anyway, Frankfurt is now really hot after the Problems at the begin of the season!

Today they sacked Coach Titz. I can't believe this. Yes, we went 3 home matches without scoring a goal (2 goalless draws against top teams Bochum and St. Pauli (actually at #3) and the embarrassing 0-5 loss against Regensburg but I thought they would give him and the (youngest) team some time. He deserves that. HSV is actually #5 in the table, only 2 pts behind #1 Köln.

I am really shocked that they've done it again!!!! Damn it.

New coach is Hannes Wolf, sacked last year at Stuttgart, after being their "hero" bringing them back to the Bundesliga. He's not a bad man and I like him but these arseholes in the management really make me angry. This goes on now for nearly a decade. I am tempted to throw my season ticket in the bin ( I was tempted to do this many times in the last 25 years but never done it though )
Thank God that we'll have no home match this weekend, so I can regain my composure. Deeply disappointed here (but nonetheless I hope that Hannes Wolf has a good start here in Hamburg and will bring us back to the Bundesliga)

Well, seems that sacking the coach in Stuttgart was a great idea. Under new coach Markus Weinzierl (ex-Augsburg and ex-Schalke coach) they have lost their first 3 matches with 0-4,0-4 and yesterday 0-3 against surging Eintracht Frankfurt.
Frankfurt with 7 wins in the last 8 matches in BuLi and EL. That's a statement and now they're in the top group of the league.

Bayern at home against Freiburg, should be another win and depending on the Dortmund result could bring them on top again, but I hope that Dortmund will win at Wolfsburg (sorry Bruno Labbadia).

Interesting will be Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim. 2 weeks ago most thought that coach Heiko Herrlich would be sacked but then they won 6-2 at #2 Werder Bremen last weekend and 5-0 at Gladbach midweeks in the Cup. 11 Goals away, let's see what they can do at home!

2nd BuLi: Top match is #2 HSV vs #1 Köln on monday (I don't like mondays) at the Volkspark.

Although I am still very angry about the sacking of our coach I'll be there, as always. You can't blame new coach Hannes Wolf for it and neither the team. Wolf's first two games in charge were away games, both won (1-0 at Magdeburg, 3-0 at 3rd tier Wiesbaden in the Cup). But away games weren't our problems so far (still unbeaten here , 4 W-1D-0L). It's the home matches we're not good atm ( 2W-2D-2L, and the 2 losses were heavy 0-3 and 0-5).

So, let's see how we play at home under Wolf

btw: After the embarrassing 0-5 against Regensburg, the HSV has only conceded 1 Goal in 6 matches.

To our delight, Freiburg scored a late equaliser at the Allianz yesterday and earned a point while Dortmund won at Wolfsburg 1-0. Need to watch Dortmund this season as they look to be playing some good stuff. At least, Favre is doing a good job so far.

Yes, after the match I drank a beer (or two...). The emotions after Lasogga scored the 1-0 in the 86th minute were big in the stadium.

Hannes Wolf is the first HSV coach ever in the long history of the club who started with 3 wins with no goals conceded. Not even the great Ernst Happel reached this feature.

And he comes across very likeable when in the post match press conference he praises the work of our last coach and that the found an intact and good team when he took over.

Today's top match is, of course, #1 Borussia Dortmund vs #3 Bayern Munich. Let's hope for the best, a Borussia win would widen their lead to Bayern to 7 pts.
On Tuesday Borussia got their first setback by losing 0-2 at Atletico in the Champions League.
That was a disappointing performance of the young wild ones. Nobody expected them to hammer Atletico again with 4-0 like in the first leg but this was dull.
Bayern didn't convince either in their 2-0 home win against Athens but they've got their job done. I am fearing that they'll do it again today, playing shite like the last weeks but get a result.

Overall record in the Bundesliga: 45W-29D-24L, 188-118 Goals, in favour of Bayern. Last season Borussia lost both matches( 1-3 at home, 0-6 at Munich)

Anyway, I am more interested that the HSV gets the job done today at (Erzgebirge) Aue. The 3rd club from the East we're playing. We won 1-0 at Dresden, 1-0 at Magdeburg. All good things come in threes? (or something like that). Would be nice

Ironically, the Brits don't seem to have this saying us French share with the Germans (jamais deux sans trois) meaning that if something occured twice then it has to happen a 3rd time. They use 3rd time lucky which implies that the 3rd occurance is a different one than the previous two. Anyway...

Unfortunately I was unable to watch the game yesterday and was quite annoyed as it looked like one of the most evenly matched Klassiker of the last 5 years. It doesn't mean that Dortmund are back at being good (I mean Bayern good) but that Bayern is really not as good as previous seasons due to relying on an ageing squad. I already posted many times what I thought of the appointment of Kovac and the acquisition of Goretzka. Nothing wrong with either of them but just not good enough for Bayern.
So Dortmund won the game despite trailing twice at 0-1 and 1-2. I caught some highlights and Dortmund missed 2 open goals (!) but showed character by winning thanks to a lovely Reus shot and the ridiculous supersub Alcacer getting the winner.

Some interesting scorelines yesterday in the Zwei: Köln demolished Dresden 8-1, the first time a side scored more than 6 goals since Hansa Rostock back in October 2008 (a 9-0 win against Koblenz), while Hamburg won in the East 3-1, Union beat Fürth 4-0 while St Pauli could only draw at home to Heidenheim 1-1. Hamburg keep their 4-pt lead at the top but their goal difference is pretty poor (+5) in comparison to Köln's (+14) or Union's (+11). It's still early days but I'm pretty sure the top 3 will be out of those 4 sides. I don't especially care if Hamburg or Köln fail to go up but I would love Union in the Bundesliga.

Also, the Bundesliga picked their tv games for February so I can say with some confidence that I'll be attending Köln/St Pauli (not a bad game on paper that one) on the 8th and Düsseldorf/Stuttgart (could be quite important for the relegation fight) on the 10th with hopefully the chance to go to Uerdingen with sechzig. I'm very excited about this as it's going to be good dos to proper german grounds (I went to Hoffenheim last month but that was just shite).

Berlin could do with another club in the Bundesliga but not at the expense of HSV.
The biggest city in Germany and mostly only 1 team in the highest tier, except short periods in the 70's where Tennis Borussia Berlin played in the Bundesliga or in the 80's with Blau Weiß 90.
