With B B B Corr off, how could it not be the perfect time for Dion? I've never seen him play at the Abbey but I'm sure all I've heard is not just hype. He's like a local pre-homage to Bingham isn't he?

Well I'll put it this way, he was a much better player than he is a tv presenter...

Center is just American English so not a typo SOC. Got you :woo:

Re. Oakey's question, I'll probably go for some of our 70's players like Tom Finney, Alan Biley or Steve Spriggs, just to see what the fuss was all about.

That's amazing Fish! Honestly, how come I've never seen this vid before?

It's the star clip in one of Nick Hancock's football videos - I think it was Football Hell. I'm pretty sure Hancock incorrectly insists on calling him Noel and I don't know if that adds insult to injury or if it slightly spares poor Noah's blushes.

Is Hancock a bad man? Lee Hurst and Rory McGrath are terrible people so I've been wondering.

 It originally said "player from the pass" or something.

Following on from Fish's post, it's high time the L2 forum was introduced to a NL forum. Lincoln fans should all be choosing this guy. Ladies and gentlemen...

This one is actually worse than poor old Noah Hickey's, Hickey tried being clever flicking it in so at least he had a slight excuse but this one, well just watch it........

You guys are idiots, it doesn't specify from your own club. I would go back and get one of the peak Brazilian Ronaldos, either 97 or 02 or Paolo Maldini. Haha, Ainsworth and Barker? You fools.

Apart from this bit, dipshit:

If you could go back in time and convince a previous player from your own club to come back with you to the present day....

I do remember Dion watching Dion play for us at the Abbey though I was only eight when he departed for Salford. I can remember being absolutely gutted when he went.

We had a whole team of cult heroes in those days though - Claridge, Taylor, O'Shea, Kimble, Vaughan, Dennis, Bailie, Wilkins, Philpott, even on loan Heaney were all loved and would all have been welcomed back with open arms. Dion was an equal with that lot, he didn't really tower above them.

who would you think would be the missing piece of the jigsaw that would guarantee promotion??
a midfield dynamo or a hotshot centre forward??
Right now...I would love another Ricky Hill in an attacking midfield role to make the difference
Out of all the players I've seen in a Luton shirt, my XI would be:

Dean Kiely, Kevin Foley, Matthew Taylor, Markus Heikkinen, Curtis Davies, Carlos Edwards, Jean-Louis Valois, Kevin Nicholls, David Edwards, Steve Howard, Andre Gray
Subs: Mark Tyler, Chris Coyne, Leon Barnett, Steve Robinson, Cameron McGeehan, Danny Hylton, Rowan Vine

That would be some side at Championship level.

He wouldn't even be my next CM choice, I'd have Stacy Coldicott next in line. Loved Dizza, but all those ahead of him did it at 2nd/3rd tier.

You've got to consider the context. He got you up after all those years in purgatory.

Haha, but Paul Groves captained us straight back to the 2nd tier at the first time of asking in 97/98. I think he even started every game in his first three seasons with us too! 10/11 year old me used some of my pocket money to keep Ivano Bonetti at the club once. Disley can't compete with that.

Striker...... Jan Fjortoff
Midfield ....Ray Mchale
Defence,...... Colin Calderwood and Shaun Taylor

After last season i had to add a spine to the team, with these 4 players you can add any player to them and it still would be a great team

Let's not argue about Sir Clive, lads. His brilliance should unite us not divide us. His hattrick in that playoff final will arguably be the best ever to be scored at Wembley in a competitive final. One of my favourite memories of more recentish times (well about 12 years ago now) was when Charlton, a PL side at the time, came to BP for a League Cup game and Mendonca came on the pitch before the match to a standing ovation from all 4 sides of the ground.

Number one memory of him for me though, was when he came back on my 12th birthday from an almost season long injury and scored a hattrick against Ipswich. Probably got a bit of cash in some cards and a decent present off my parents that year, but Mendonca's gift was the best. Awful quality on the video, but here it is...

Maybe we should create a Clive Mendonca appreciation thread somewhere.

The man was an absolute hatrick fiend.

This thread gives me the opportunity to get this video out again...

Those goals versus Torquay and Orient were in successive games in his first week.

Technically, the best footballer I've seen in a Luton Town shirt in 20 years of going to games. A video, that any genuine football fan would enjoy.

Not quite sure how we managed to sign him, or whether we'd even be able to sign someone of his calibre almost being unnoticed in 2017.

Yeah id love to know the actual story behind him coming here, was just so odd. Like how BFJ even find him?!

Seem to recall literally turning up for that Torquay game and this long haired languid looking bloke being out there pre match there looking like we dragged him out of some Parisian cafe and asking everyone around me who the hell he was to general bemusement and shrugged shoulders.

Pre social media I guess, wouldn't happen now, we'd probably all be taking about it for weeks beforehand on here these days!

Not arguing about Sir Clive SOC my post was tongue in cheek, in fact that was the only photo I could find of him in a Charlton shirt were he had a slight grimace to substantiate my jokey argument lol.
