Out of the players I've had the pleasure of watching, I'd always have Nichols back. JLV was just mind blowing. Also had a soft spot for David Bell, wished he'd stayed a bit longer.

Would have to plump for Ahmet Brkovic though for that goal against Hull. Can't remember celebrating a goal like that with the possible exception of Mark Cullen at Cambridge. But he's a shit house and doesn't make the list.

Yeah this goal wasn't bad either:

All relative to our current level, because I'm a younger fan than most on here...

Nathan Pond, Conor Townsend, Dean Henderson, Liam Hearn, Jamie Devitt (1st spell). These are all/were solid League 1 players when with us but I haven't seen us above League 2 yet!

What about Disley?

Ha, all those except Hearn were loans, so they were all far too good for the league they were in. Disley isn't in that class unfortunately.
When did you start watching us, again? Sure you have told me before, but I can't remember. I don't know if I would necessarily put Hearn ahead of Bogle, Connell and Amond. We've had some quality strikers over the last 5 or 6 seasons. To prevent Aber from having a meltdown here is my Conference best XI. Switching to 4-3-3 since the last time we discussed this in the box...

Mckeown
Magnay--Pond--Miller--Townsend
Osborne--CRAIG DISLEY (C)--Nolan
Hearn--Connell--Bogle

Those 3 central midfielders and strikers plus Amond are also better than anyone in those positions we had during our stint in L2 before we went down, even probably including 05/06 when we got to the L2 playoff final. You could maybe argue cases for Bolland, Gary Jones and Reddy...JPKK at a push too. Devitt would be in with a shout too, but he played out wide for us so might not fit in here. Defence wise though, you'd have to have Ryan Bennett in there. Probably alongside Rob Jones or Whittle. McDermott at RB obviously. Townsend is better than any LB we had in L2, unless someone has escaped my memory?

2006. And I don't really remember games before 2009 because I wasn't really interested before that point.:emb:

As a footballer, Hearn was better than Connell, who was a bit of a luxury. Hearn could've made the Championship without injuries. Bogle is probably better than both so I probably should've included him.

Your conference XI is almost right, except for the fact that Osborne only joined us last season:mell:.

Andy Parkinson was shit hot that season too.
I was never convinced about him. He put in a lot of effort and when he played well, you're right, he was very good. However he always seemed a bit too much like a headless chicken and wasn't great technically. He was just fast and ran a lot. Maybe I'm being overly harsh.

One thing that still bugs me is that with the team we had that season, how the hell did we manage to not go up?*

*Apart from the fact that we obviously got less points than 3 other teams, but I'm sure you know what I mean lol. :gr:

That's better. Finally SENSE prevails.

You were basically a one man team. I remember the hilarious 'Lesterfield' quips on TFF.
