Ravenbish's Final League 1 Match Report - If you love me let me go.

If you're reading this, I'm afraid you're already too late.

Well, where to start other than frankly just laugh, it was hilarious. We set off incredibly early again, seriously, this is a developing theme whenever I go to an away game with the old man. The bloke has a fucking state of the art Sat Nav on board computer thingy in his brand new Audi and he's incapable of planning journeys so that we don't get to places hours early. So we're sat in the car park at like 10.15, I shit you not. I'm tired, I stayed up to watch 'the big fight' and I'm falling asleep with a half-eaten ham cob resting on my stomach, 2 hours before the biggest game of the season...and it kind of dawns on me, I don't actually care. I wasn't nervous, just kind of wanted it to be worthwhile - staying up and carrying Jimmy Spencer off the pitch or going down and getting to unload my rather impressive catalogue of grotesque insults at the players - both sounded equally appealing so the day could be considered a win-win.

Game started alright, we were very attacking which was nice. Created a couple of chances, one of which was missed horribly by *drum roll* - GARRY THOMPSON. I mean fucking seriously Garry. I get that a lower league striker's chance conversion rate is generally about 1 in 3 for the good 'uns but if he even scores half of the one-on-ones he's had in the last few months he's probably finishing the season as one of the top scorers in the division. The bloke can't finish for toffee. But blah blah blah first half was shite, we were shit - whatever. No-one wants to know about the football so...we scored (keeper fucked up i think), we concede (it wasn't a free-kick but honestly I couldn't care less) and then we just give up, half out of shock and half out of being gutless.

Onto more pressing matters;
1) Gillingham's cheerleaders. As an avid fan of the fantastic Bring It On series of films, I was appalled by these routines. The lack of movement meant they kind of waved around like one of those wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men. They were out of time, the musicality...good lord the musicality was, frankly, non-existant. These group of, I'm sure lovely, young ladies were an even bigger disgrace than the Notts team. Significant improvements need to be made to that squad in the summer.

2) That stand holds like 3,000 and you've got 4 turnstiles and then when you go through the turnstile they're trying to give you stuff and I tell you what, never knew people from Gillingham had an accent till 'yuwunaponchuu' - I had to do a double-take, i thought the scoundrel was trying to sell me drugs or something until I saw the pile of waterproof ponchos.

3) Fair play to the section of Gillingham fans who seemed to care more about our relegation than I did. They even knew the permutations and that when goals were filtering through. Which is more than can be said for me, apparently a Preston equaliser would've saved us and I had no idea.

4) short-term, I give up with this club. It's a joke, I feel no sort of pride in it, I come across as the most thick-skinned person ever when the #ForestLadz try and banter me right off because apparently, get this, we're shite...who fucking knew?! I've always been on board with the idea you support a club not the team and generally there's a lot of top people at Notts. Our commercial and media departments are up there anyone's at our level, top-class stuff but when it comes to football matters we've descended quickly from well-intentioned but a bit off to misguided and naive to whatever we have now which is frankly a parody. I won't be buying a season ticket for next season or attending many matches - it's not a boycott, I just genuinely can't summon up the energy to even try and justify to myself paying our ridiculous prices (which I'd imagine will be the most expensive in League 2) - unless I see us trying to do things the right way but I can't see it.

5) No complaints about our relegation. Shaun Derry assembled, in my eyes, the worst squad in League 1 this year and we deserved to go down - how that happened was irrelevant and Gillingham's late equaliser was more a strike of overall justice than the feeling we'd been robbed (because frankly Gillingham were really poor in the second half until we decided to give up).

6) Why the fuck are Gillingham celebrating mid-table by sticking a picture of Bradley Dack with his cock out on Twitter?

I feel a bit sorry for County really, but know how it feels. 10 years ago, we had to go to Forest on the last day of the season to survive and Eugine Bopp scored a late goal to send us down from the Championship in front of 3,000 travelling Gills. Crap journey home of course.

County are a good old English club with passionate fans, then you se that Franchise Dons have been promoted. They were 2nd in the league when they came to Priestfield and brought 320 fans with them, pathetic support with no tradition. They'll be straight back down, and hopefully County can come straight back up

I don't suppose we could really complain too much if we dropped down on the last day next season if the ball ricocheted off someones arse and into their own net in added time at some random venue 150 miles away...but hopefully that kind of scenario won't be a possibility for a good while now.

To be honest you were the worst side I saw all season, but you obviously got your act together somewhere along the line so fair play!

Was oddly nonplussed by relegation in the end, we deserved it. Team that Derry put together just wasn't good enough.

Worth the trip for the scenes after Burke's goal alone tbh.

Wow, what a ridiculous way to get relegated, 1-0 up in the 88th minute and you concede 3 goals, absolutely bottled it

I've got to say that, although I'm obviously happy we won, I couldn't help but feel very sorry for those away fans. Gills fans have had our fair share of last day heartbreak in the last ten years and it really hurts, best of luck next season and I hope you can manage to bounce back.
