Think you're being a bit harsh there, I've checked the stats again.

View attachment 20004

They must have decided to count Dom Thompson's free kick from about 50 yards out that trickled off for a goal kick as a shot. Couldn't tell what it was supposed to be at the time, other then it was shit.

Still 0.0 xG at home to a team in the same division is not good enough by any stretch. I didn't expect a result but at least have a couple of decent shots ffs. Can't wait to clear these wasters out.

Thought Mansfield were good with the ball, but with our resolute defence, didn't really know what to do in that final third, a little similar to the game at FM. We got a well worked goal from a defence splitting pass, a bursting run from midfield and a complete hash of trying to defend giving Mullin a simple tap in from 6 yards. A goal would have been the only difference in the game if the ref hadn't given us a pen that simply wasn't. I just can't see how he gave that decision, but there we go.

2nd goal killed the game, and was happy to keep a clean sheet against the top scorers of the league. A good days work, keeping franchise at arms length. We need to keep this going till the end of the season, but having ToC back along with Evans, they are like new signings for us in the run in.

6 to go...

Wrexham were not great by any means but did defend really well and played apart in our lack of offensive threat, first away game we have not scored. Monday is massive now.
Rattled.

Very easy 3-1 win against Grimsby who only scored near the end. Win on Monday and a few teams above will be starting to get nervous if they don't win.
Yep must be one of your easiest wins of the season. My expectations were low yesterday, however I expected us to at least lay a glove on you. Barring hitting the post we barely threatened you until the goal which was once again too little too late. Second week running we've gone 3-0 down due to piss poor defending. Very cool touch and finish from Stockton for the opener though, give him that much room and he'll punish League 2 defences. Good luck for the rest of the season, worthy promotion challengers based off the two matches I've seen. It was somewhat of a piss take we took the 3 points at BP earlier in the season so no complaints about yesterday from me.

That's obviously a huge win for Wrexham, if the scores had been reversed the tone naturally would be very different, I suspect nervy.

The current Top 3 will end the Top 3. Stags will be absolutely fine, next 3 opponents look very favourable before a tough last few games. A Barrow or MK slip up will be the final nail for their hopes.

Mullin was very good, we weren’t. Not that we’d have ever scored anyway but how has the refereeing become this bad in L2. That penalty decision is an absolute joke, the fucking slap head running the line was 10 yards away from it too.

Straw clutching that is :bg:

Do you reckon you were great then? Think you defended well and kept a good shape but other than that nothing stood out to me. Got the job done tho innit.

Dreamland for you this, beating a side that’s ’much better’ than the one you support, according to your own estimations, a magnificent achievement

I don't think Mansfield were as poor as some are making out in the first half, we just defended brilliantly when we needed to and we crafted the one good chance from open play in the match. It was comfortable for us in the 2nd as Mansfield faded after some baffling substitutions.

Cleworth (the young CB) was outstanding and his ball forward leading to the first goal was something you hardly see pulled off at this level. He's got a great career ahead of him, I'd be tieing him down to a long contract.

Mullin harassed your defenders all match and looks to be back to his best, just at the right time. He's been like a new signing lately.

If the final table was in the positions above I wouldn't be too dissapointed. The teams in the playoff positions are all beatable (including us of course). As long as the wombles weren't in there, that would not be good.
We are too inconsistent and will miss out. Though some feel it's written in the starts fir us to meet you in playoffs. Personally I doubt it. We will miss out

Even in real time it looked out. Wasn't complaining though! Thought we got a bit lucky with the disallowed goal too, mighty cock-up by Okonkwo.

Utterly toothless in that second half, obviously penalty decision was a joke but hard to argue with the result as Wrexham did make one proper chance in the first half and took it.

Like I mentioned before the first goal it was all very comfortable but without creating much, just not our day today, few below par performances.

3 games, two wins and a draw. ‘Not great by any means’ oookay then!

I’m on about the game yesterday? If you think you were great, fantastic, unplayable yesterday then let’s hear it less than a mile. I absolutely love it when I do an entire post saying the result is hard to argue with, they defended really well yet you get offended at that? Got to lower your sensitivity.

Completely agree with that except the baffling subs, by half time we had no defenders left hence two strikers in defence. Brunt was injured from a challenge and had to go off just like Hewitt. Swan upfront also got injured. 7 defenders out or something daft at the minute.

Yeah I thought we were great, much (considerably) the better side over the 90.

Coming back to #Comfortablybettergate. Conker seems to be using that term because he felt they were comfortable, and the better team. Which up until the goal I'd agree with. For me 'comfortably better' means better by a comfortable margin which wasn't the case. There was very little in it. I guess we just use English differently.

Mansfield were comfortable because they were keeping things simple and not trying to stretch us, but they did very little with the ball. I don't think we were amazing, but we were very professional and everyone played well. People never rate the football we play as we aren't dominating teams but that's not how we play against the better sides. We are happy to let the oither side have the ball in safe areas, press them when they get to more dangerous areas and then hit them on the break. Where we were most successful yesterday was denying Reed and DKD the ball.

We've got some tricky away games. coming up but if we can get something out of the then win our home games against FGR and Crawley then I can see us securing top three - ideally before we got to Crewe and definitely before the Stockport game.

I also thought Mansfield were OK yesterday, but nowhere near as good as we know they can be. I notice a lot of Stags fans seem to slag off Bowery, but I've always thought he looks OK at the back? He does struggle against pace and Bolton caused him some issues. Can't be easy for him as Clough seems to just stick him in whatever position needs filling.

Bearer of bad news but Cargill is out for the season.

I would hate that. Real stress on top of the playoff stress would not be good for the nerves. And a final at Wembly between us? Sky would hype it up and up and I could see something nasty happening.

It was a shame to see elliott hewitt taken out by the late challenge from mcclean, hopefully he’s ok.

A shame to have such a ridiculous penalty given against us so far out of the box when such an obvious one wasn’t given to us against colchester.

Need to make sure we don’t get any other of these decisions.

Didn’t really see top 3 in either side in that performance we were poor, wrexham were pretty meh, but had enough. Of course only on 1 game though.

Yeah I’ve watched that back and can’t really tell. Looks as though he drops it but can’t tell if DKD got a toe on it whilst he had 2 hands on it, only thing that pissed me off there was the ref seem to wait till the ball was in the net to blow

Saw the replay of it and Okonkwo had both hands on it so it was the right decision but the ref definitely guessed it, he was letting it play on for a bit but then saw DKD was going to score so he blew.

No way he could have seen for certain as there was 2 or 3 players blocking the view.
