Absolutely gutted for Grimsby, but more chuffed for Darrell Clarke than anyone. Bloke deserves it.

We went up at the first attempt via the playoffs after losing out on the title to Barnet.

Bad luck Grimsby, horrible way to miss out on promotion.

Glad Rovers are back. Good club who without using that terrible cliche 'are too big for the conference'. Always bring a good following to the Bescot and I love the Mem for some reason. Good club, with a good fan base that should be a top end league 2/mid table league 1 club. Excellent.

Weakest Conference in years this season with Luton and Cambridge being promoted last.

Well done Brizzle. First time of asking, If Quakerz is still on here he will be going into meltdown, No clubs ever do that!
Teams to return at the first attempt I think are
Lincoln
Darlington
Shrewsbury
Carlisle
Bristol Rovers

It was weak in our season down there. I think we played well about twice that whole season, but still went up.

Would have preferred Grimsby but at least it's not FGR or Eastleigh

I think the season we went up it was at its hardest. The conference in the last 2 years has been low quality

Season before that was the strongest in our time IMHO, when Crawley won it. Loads of good teams that year.

EDIT - Crawley won it two seasons before you, oops! It was really strong in all three of those years actually, tough call. I do think the Crawley season was the overall strongest though.

You have to say though, most other Refs would have sent off the keeper

The year Fleetwood won it was the strongest. They went onto about 100+ points, Wrexham 2nd on 98 I think and us 3rd on 89.

Yeah it was very strong that year. Grimsby finished 11th with 70 points, the whole top half of the league was pretty strong then.

To be fair it probably was. We finished 3rd on 89 points - 20 points off the top spot

In the 5 years we have been down the Fleetwood year was definitely the strongest and most competitive, like you say the top 11 all finishing on 70 points or more. Not sure Crawleys season was that competitive, everyone knew Crawley would win it before the season started and sure enough they went on to dominate the whole season with no one else even close. Mansfields was probably the second strongest though there was only really the top 5 in it, everybody else were very poor, but at least 5 teams were involved.

As for the other two years Luton and Barnet seasons both pretty weak in my opinion, though would have to go for Luton's being the weakest division, to have two part time teams finishing 5th and 6th and despite Cambridge's decent start, Luton had no competition from Christmas onwards. This year there were three teams till the end and the title was won on the final day, and then even the final spots in the play-offs were competitive.
2012
2013
2011
2015
2014
would be my choice for most competitive leagues in our 5 years.

Congratulations and welcome to Bristol Rovers.

Have huge sympathy for Grimsby fans though, remember when it happened to us, felt infinitely worse than the York defeat, wouldn't wish that feelin on another fan at all!

Even though we finished 3rd bottom, I think there is a case for extending the promotion places

Too right! I made, sorry , took my little one when he was 5 or 6 back in the 90s and he's grew up a Poolie despite the pressure at all the schools to follow Sunderland ( I was living in a Durham village at the time) our victories just mean more somehow, and days like today for you last long in the memory and are treasured forever

Well as I said earlier, you won't find too many City lovers in Hartlepool, rivalry is one thing, but you have to acknowledge achievements no matter who has done them, to bounce back IS an achievement , as is City's promotion , take it as a compliment, they wouldn't be worried about you if they weren't scared of you!
