Superb! Maybe bit flattering scoreline due to a couple of comedy backpasses but dominated possession and did something with it.

Anybody who wants a laugh watch the highlight show tonight and look at FGR 2nd and 4th goals, despite completely gifting FGR 2 of their goals the score line is a pretty fair reflection for how bad we were and how good FGR were. We were chasing shadows most of the game, abysmal from us, gonna be a long season with that shocking defence.

Fucking hell. Collins OG getting blamed on the keeper kit hahahah. Absolute mess of a second half there. Fair play FGR, you can only beat what's in front of you!

Well that was a good laugh.

Forest Green were the better side, fair play. 4-1 was flattering as said but who wouldn't take a couple of gifts like that. I can't even begin to fathom it but I'm grateful it's only the first game of the season. There is no way we have a half as comical as that again.

I think it was a freak result that won't have too much indication on the season as a whole. We weren't good but then again we rarely are. We're going to need a big reaction against Macclesfield though to quickly put this to bed.

My one take away is that John Welsh is going to quickly become a hero here.

At least Jolley is being honest post match and not saying positive things for the sake of it.

Said he wasn't happy with any aspect of the game and we were lucky to even be leading at HT

You've got to be a bit weird to blame that on the 'keeper!

You get taught at a young age not to back pass between the goal and the 'keeper's are taught to receive the ball wide of the goal!

I thought Doidge was gonna get down and head the ball in for the 4th goal as well, once he rounded McKeown he seemed to stop on the goal line and I honestly think he thought about doing it for a second before just rolling it in instead.

Nah he's saying it's being blamed on the keepers kit not the keeper himself.
All shite too of course, the blame lies on Collins not actually looking up before kicking it.

Our second kit is largely dark grey/black, after today I might start a campaign to keep it blue and white, at least the players can see each other.

About time that ridiculous claim actually came true, Chris!

Combination of not looking (on Collins' part), not being in the right place (McKeown) and terrible colour choice (Errea/GTFC). That's the official line.

That was horrific. Probably the worst performance since promotion. Fair play to FGR, they were so much better than in May and were one of the best passing teams I’d seen in a while. Was most impressed by Brown and Shephard.

You can’t legislate for the two mistakes so you could say the score line was flattering to FGR but we definitely deserved to lose. Harry Clifton isn’t a RB, Paul Dixon isn’t good enough and RHJ isn’t a LB - just play players in their correct positions! Hessenthaler was our MOTM after his 30 minutes on the pitch so him, Vernam, Fox and Famewo need to be in. The pass and move of pre-season disappeared and was replaced by Sladeball.

McKeown also needs to wear his fluorescent kit; the grey one was easy to see when the stand was empty but a packed Pontoon meant even I struggled to see him. We do love a comedy goal.

On saying that about Sladeball, if we did sign Angol, we could at least play it up to someone taller than 6ft.

1 game done, 45 left to turn it around.

Blimey, I was really I'm pressed with us today. More quality than last season, that's already evident. But we may be crying into our beer ourselves come next saturday, too early to say. Grimsby despite loosing, will be better for this defeat, a few things to iron out, but no accounting for giving away goals like that.

That grey keepers kit, is an unessesary risk, never use it again, just plain daft.

My first trip to your neck of the woods, and left with a good impression. Chin-up.

Wow, incredible errors, better to get them out of the way now.
Seems also Grimsby have had a penalty in about their last 28 home games !
Rose pops up every fortnight .

I think it will be Lincoln who are crowned champions of the most penalties earned this season...now that they have John "rubber legs" Akinde in their team.

How did Winchester do on his debut? He'll get a good reception next week, came through our academy and was popular.
