Absolutely ridiculous decision. Sorry to any Cov fans missing out.
This is the only explanation I can think of; I'm not saying a logical one, because this defies logic - we are not going to sell any more tickets in case some turn up on the day without tickets, (thereby making it more likely that some will turn up without tickets). The press release implies GTFC were consulted or even in on it, which is also bizarre - why turn down the hard cash from selling another 600 tickets?Perhaps they were anticipating more than the 500 pay on the gate fans, so to negate this they say no pay on the gate, but I suspect if some turn up without a ticket they will let them in rather than them causing trouble outside ground and going in home end.
I've no complaints despite the farcical first goal. Cov dominant in the second half and a few of our players looked off the pace and probably just not good enough, particularly the former York City midfield. Thankfully, we have better quality to return - McAllister, Clements, Osborne (although probably out to Christmas). I thought Sam Jones did ok but would rather see him central. Dembele just didn't get the good service to feet in space that JJones did for Cov. Any watching League 2 scouts will see how they they can neutralise him if we try just lump the ball into the channels for him to try run onto like yesterdayEnjoyed that. Dominated after the 40th minute really. Two games in and still 0 shots on target against us.
What a joke this statement is and still no actual reason why. A 20% reduction in home capacity too???
Addendum to the Safety Certificate issued by North East Lincolnshire Council to Grimsby Town Football Club.
The following temporary condition is being applied by the Council in respect of the football match scheduled to take place at Blundell Park on Saturday 12th August 2017 between Grimsby Town FC and Coventry City FC.
“The Council supports the fixture taking place under the stewardship of the Club subject to the following condition:
As a condition of the safety certificate the capacity for this fixture be reduced through no further sales of tickets to away fans (Coventry) with immediate effect and a 20% reduction in capacity for home fans.”

As annoying as that would be, it would be a little bit funny if for the first time in the last 10 seasons that Lincoln can sell out, they end up getting capped at 1300!What the feck is going on? The council have done nothing to support the development of a new stadium, are years behind other clubs, and suffering for it with match day revenue, and then start doing stuff like this. Are they going to do this for the Lincoln game in six weeks. Someone should ask the question now.
