I know it’s not League 2 but as lower league away days go Halifax has to be right up there.
Easy parking, loads of pubs near the ground all letting away fans in and the ground itself is brilliant, I expected it to be a proper dump but it’s actually superb.
We got a pasting on the pitch but I still had a great away day.

Port Vale is my least favourite I've been too. Only a few pubs let away fans in for some reason, it's always dismal weather when I go and the ground lacks any atmosphere.
I found it the opposite, great atmosphere even with only 500 of us there and I thought the ground itself was excellent.
Missus and Daughter weren’t too impressed though as I dropped them in Stoke centre first to go shopping while me and my lad went to Vale Park and they said it was absolutely shite with fuck all to do.

Agreed. 'Fax is a damn fine drinking destination (far better than Rochdale), irrespective of whether you like football.

Some great boozers in Burslem too. Guess the Scunny lad didn’t look hard enough. The Crown is a Vale pub as is the Red Lion and you’d not want to walk into either with away colours on but aside from that plenty of decent pubs.

Better than a ground sat on a retail park with only a Tesco or Asda like most new ones!

All Christie park had was an offy with a licence to serve beer in milk containers and a police cordon.

At the time we were in non league too so it was nice to go away to a decent ground instead of the usual holes that we’d started getting accustomed to.

Personal favourites in terms of overall day out would be Carlisle (really like the town and also the ground), Orient and Cheltenham (beautiful town with great pubs). All decent places for a few a beers. Not keen on Colchester, Northampton or Stevenage. I have only been to Colchester once (by train), and went into the town centre beforehand and it took an absolute age to walk to the ground (maybe I went the wrong way). Atmosphere was poor as well. Plymouth probably should be up there for me, been loads of times, but always too tense to really enjoy it, and usually get herded from the station to a pub, and then the same to the ground, and the same to the station after. I suspect it is a decent day out for fans of other teams though ?

bet the facilities at York’s ground are still one of the worst in the conference north!

Still. York as a whole is sorely missed as an away day.

York was always one of my favourite away days. Short journey, fantastic city for pre match drinks and food, short walk from centre to Bootham Crescent, and we usually did well there. Miss them being in the football league

I hope our friendly neighbourly Shaymen get promoted back to the football league this season. Cracking local away day. That said, I hope we are still not in league 2 ourselves next season!

What about the fantastic chippy by the away end? Christie Park was far superior to the Globe. The Globe is shit.

I enjoyed Christie Park in a few pubs locally. The Globe I’m sure we drank in a bar in a Caravan Park!

Just to go Lancaster, it’s like 4 miles away and like 4,000% better than morecambe, it costs about a fiver in a taxi.

We’re doing the weekend away in Lancaster for one of the lads 50th, would never have done that in morecambe!

Christie Park was my first visit and I drove the Globe visit! Had a few decent beers at Christie though, so much so Kyle Perry even scored a goal and thought I’d over done it!

Perry's just signed for his 27th (I think) Club!
