personally I thought McCoy was just average for this level, no need to slag him off. Don't get me wrong I'd take Jombati over him any day of the week, but he really wasn't shite.

(Since we're on WW players who went to York) I don't get the hate for Dave Winfield either - not you, but a lot of Wycombe fans.
Winfield came back to us after going out on loan to gain match fitness and finished the season very strongly. Very decent league two player in my view.

Always rated Winfield when he played for us. McCoy was never the same after breaking his leg and he lost his pace, before that he was decent though.

Yup, if you expect him to pass accurately you will be sorely disappointed, but if all you want is a no-nonsense "if in doubt, boot it out" CB he is actually fine at this level, especially if you want a bruiser to shut up a big lump opposition target man.

Shame we dont have predictions from a supporter for every team, anyone like to make a guess for those that are missing or feel predictions so far are way out?

Far, far, far too early. We've signed one half-broken player so far so I predict we'll finish bottom. When the five top class signings we're promised arrive in the next week or two I may revise that to automatic promotion contenders.

A lot now depends on our ownership changes but putting that to one side I would hope for top 10/playoffs.

Winfields header against Cheltenham means he can do whatever he likes from now on, absolute bullet.

As for us, solid lower midtable will do me, get moving into the new ground with League 2 football at least, then have a push on from there.

Still too early to to tell, but a Butcher seems to have brought in enough reasonably sound players to encourage me that we won't go down. Next season will definitely be a dour slog and I'll take bottom six before he works his Inverness Caledonian style miracle.

Needless to say I have chosen to ignore his previous managerial record.

Mid table obscurity, Money walks by Christmas, Man U money spunked in one season and administration by the end of the season.

Might as well bring some realism to this thing.

Looking at the signings made so far its hard to look past Portsmouth for the top spot, some really strong signings and in Paul cook they have one of the best lower league managers around. Luton are looking fairly strong too but for a strange capitulation it seemed like they were going to be top 3 last season so with some strengthening I think they'll be up there. The final automatic place is quite open in my book and id think the rest of the spots will be contested by the likes of Plymouth, Stevenage, Cambridge and Northampton. There's normally at least one outsider in the playoffs in league 2 so could be anyone else..

At the wrong end I can see it being tough for Accrington and Hartlepool, but in John Coleman and Ronnie Moore. They have two Managers with the knowledge to stay up in a division. Carlisle I think will struggle again but perhaps be saved by the fact there are two worse teams. So the two relegation spots would be Newport (got to worry when a backer walks away and a budget is slashed) and Dagenham a team last season who benefited from there being worse teams, but without strengthening I think they're in real danger

Now, I agree, we're in for a struggle this season but this line is a little strange. We finished 14th. There were 10 teams below us.

Literally speaking, you're quite correct but that applies to 22 teams in the division.

Apologies reading it back I missed a little part out, what I meant to add was that those below have been quicker to strengthen (the likes of Mansfield etc). Always been a believer that if you can have the basis of your starting 11 together for pre season starting the extra time playing together can get you away from trouble early'ish in the season and leave others playing catch up.

Hope Dags prove me wrong through, have a little soft spot for the underdogs. Was good watching Still take you to L1 a few years ago.

I'm not sure. There's a lot of optimism and a lot of expectations from others that we'll be challenging. Hoping for a playoff place, would be ecstatic to go straight up, but would also be happy with a decent season just flirting with the playoff spots. Hand on heart, I'll say 6th.

Our Managers mantra is for season on season progression, our signings to date have filled a few of last year's midfield frailties. So on that basis I predict a 9th place finish on 66 points.

So a new entry in the fans optimism\pessimism league with Morecambe fan(s) 7th most optimistic and Newport securing the most pessimistic position. Still Accy, Plymouth and Yeovil sitting on the fence

Think the Stags will surprise a lot of folk this season, at least a top half finish and possible a play off berth.

No surprise a Darlo lad saying we'll struggle.
I can see a top 10 finish. Most will think I'm being overly optomistic, but Moore got results with a dog shyte team.
With a team he has built,I can see a decent season

I think we're going to have another "chilled out" season of consolidation - which is fine by me. I don't think we'll be anywhere near struggling for survival, at the same time we won't really challenge for the playoffs. In essence, we're not going up and we're not going down. We won't win the league and we won't win the cup. We're not very good in fact we're *****. We are the Wombles, we're mad (insert random assortment of "mad noises")

Early, early days from us but a lot depends on how we recruit from the back. Haven't been on here in the past week so I'm not trawling through to see whether Lee or C&B have posted, but it looks as though we're going to need two new centre halves which I think more or less define our season. If we recruit well, we stand a good chance of a top half finish - if we do it badly then we'll be in serious trouble. Our teams always seem to be built around a solid centre-half partnership and if we can get that right in an area of the pitch that I'm not particularly confident Burnett is very good in recruiting in, then we'll be fine.

Looks as though Nyron Nosworthy will be signing tomorrow which will be good for us. Never reckoned him higher up the ladder, but at this level he could be an astute signing. Josh Passley also on trial with us by the looks and would be another quality addition.

Is this season your last at BC?

This is indeed supposed to be the last season at BC.

I think we'll struggle again, but probably will have just enough, with some loanees cobbled together from somewhere, to finish in about the same position as last season. The problem is that I can't see how the squad is significantly improved, and we'll be very vulnerable in case of injuries and suspensions.

Nyron was an absolute beast at Championship level - but that was a decade ago! Bristol City fans really rated him when he was there on loan a couple of years back, so he still has something there!

No one has said anything about Oxford. I think we have the makings of a good team. The main thing that gives me optimism, however, is that London Welsh have quit and gone back to London which means we won't spend half the season playing on a ploughed field! With a good playing surface I think we will be in the automatic promotion places. There is certainly no excuse for us to be outside the play-offs.

Word is you're gambling it all on getting promoted this season by paying huge wages.

Ultimately, your manager is utter shite so that could let you down big time.

Jury is still out on Appleton but this season has to be make or break. There can be no excuses. He has a team he has put together and now a decent playing surface.

Winfield works well in the middle of a back three, and that's what we'll most likely be playing. He was outstanding in the last few games of last season back with us, before getting sent off...

Despite some decent signings among some average signings recently, I still think we'll be around the bottom quarter of the league. I don't think we'll go down, but with our star player Dempsey still likely to leave, it will be a struggle.

I don't think Dempsey is likely to leave at all, all the talk is that he's set on staying with us for the season and getting more game time before he moves.
