I can't see Mourinho turning this around. There's too much water under the bridge....IF he manages to get us too 4 from where we are now he deserves an awful lot of credit.

Would he? Chelsea have the 2nd or 3rd best squad in the league and you're currently sitting 9 points behind 4th with 28 games to go. It wouldn't be that big an achievement for me.

He's lost the players, it's inevitable this will now be his final season.

Can Chelsea hijack Pep's handshake with Citeh for next summer?

Nah, he had the tenacity to finish second in the league after winning the title and FA Cup the season before. That simply isn't acceptable.

He must be feeling pretty low, being replaced by Rafa Benitez after winning the Champions League, doesn't get much luck after being a winner.

Points wise we're not far behind....but he's lost the dressing room...he's losing the fans and he's quite possibly losing the confidence from the board. He's done very well if he's still Chelsea manager by the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho allegedly told referee Jon Moss: "Wenger was right - you are f*cking soft".

The man is obsessed, jealous and bitter.

Mourinho is a lot of things, but jealous of Wenger is unlikely to be one of them. Jealous of what? I can only think of two possibilities; Wenger's stability at Arsenal (which I can imagine would appeal in some ways to a managerial hobo like Mourinho), and ability to work on a small budget. I can't think of anything else. It certainly isn't silverware, Mourinho has won more (and bigger) trophies in a shorter space of time.

Many MANY things dear Pag.

How much he is adored by the majority of the fan base, how much class he has. The ability to develop young players. The stability he can bring to a club, and managing one without buying a new squad every season. Wenger doesn't have bitch tits so I imagine he's jealous of a man at 66 having a better bod than him. He's jealous of how much respect he has from pretty much everyone connected to the game, as with most people they can see what legacy Arsene is creating.

Mourinho won't be remembered forever, won't have statues and won't live in the memories for longer than a decade when he's gone. Arsene Wenger will be remembered forever for taking Arsenal football club to the next level whilst spending little, and still reaping the financial rewards of European football.

He's without doubt, the best manager in the Premier League. I would say up there with the best ever in the Premier League era, but Sir Alex gets that accolade.

So yes, I would say Mourinho is jealous.

Would you get rid of him BB?
I change my mind on this every day. If what we want is stability then he needs to be given the chance to turn it around. That said I'm not sure if he's capable of turning it around...his ego and stubbornness will get in the way.

His broken promises, specifically on promoting youth players, is starting to really piss me off. His actions and behaviour, which once made me smile, are doing him no favours....it's no wonder we get get poor decisions against us when every week he's slating the officials in front of the media. The obsession with Wenger is painful to watch. His tactics are negative and they're not helping players like Hazard Oscar and Willian really develop like the should be with the talent they have.

So in short I think he deserves time but I honestly can't see him doing anything to change the form we're in.

To be the best you need to win the best...A champions league trophy is missing from turning him from a good manager into a great one. He's no where near Fergie....not not...not ever.

Agree with that. Fergie is the greatest ever Premier League manager.

Whitechapel makes a lot of good points though, but I'm also not sure that Wenger is more loved by Arsenal fans than Mourinho is at Chelsea.

There has been quite vocal 'Wenger Out' movements more than once in the last few seasons.

Then when Wenger turns it around all those same people who hated him about 5 mins ago love him, and then the cycle continues.

No, it's a certain section of fans that want him out. Through good times and bad, I guess the only exception is when we win a big game. A good example is Piers Morgan, constantly hurling abuse at Wenger and the lack of signings, then we beat Munich and he loves him.

Yeah, what is that all about? He said Loftus-Cheek would get a run in the team, played him for 45 minutes before subbing him off (when you were winning the game 1-0) and he was dropped for the next game. Is Loftus-Cheek not good enough or is there some sort of power play going on? On the Guardian podcast someone pointed out that he'd brought on Baba Rahman for the last few minutes against (edit: West Ham obv) (a left-back for a left-back when chasing the game), and they suggested it was a sort of "look at what you've given me to work with" gesture. If he's doing that sort of thing then he's pretty much asking for the sack.

Loftus Cheek may not be good enough to start for us when all our midfielders are on top form but the form Matic and particularly Fabregas are showing it's painfully clear that Loftus Cheek deserves a shot. He was promised, as you say, a run in the team and he's got 45 mins against Villa and was then hauled off because he's not mature enough defensively....to be clear Loftus Cheek is an attacking midfielder, has been all the way through the youth system.

Last year before a meaningless (we had won the group already) game against Sporting Lisbon Jose Mourinho claimed it was, in his words, 'Youth day'. We had a youth goalkeeper on the bench who did not play....and Dom Solanke (could have been Loftus Cheek) who got 10 mins at the end of the game. It was embarrassing.

He has and never will have any intention of bringing through youth players.

I agree. But I guarantee you abramovich said something to the tune of, "be more like Wenger and build a new club, new stadium, new youth setup". On top of that, Wenger is loved. Truly loved. He is admired, not grudgingly, by everyone who is influential in the game. That is something Mourinho craves more than anything. He won't be.

Eh, it's pretty obvious Mourinho is obsessed about Wenger, the man has mentioned him in 7 of his last 8 post game press conferences. Wenger knows stability under much tougher circumstances than Mourinho has ever had to manage, even when the coffers were dry and our players made of glass we never had a nuclear level meltdown like Mourinho has. When things aren't going right for him, Mourinho can't help but be destructive which is the polar opposite to Wenger, and it's a big part of why he never had and likely never will be able to build a long term legacy at a club like Wenger or SAF. I think this kills him as it's why he came back to Chelsea in the first place. He's a great manager to have for a few seasons but after that everybody just gets a little tired of his shit.

Mourinho has a lot of issues but no one can deny he is better and more successful than Wenger.
