Quite simply have you got a player in your clubs history that would get in the best Bolton 11 of all time.
I was told the are 5/6 bigger clubs in lge 1 than Bolton....So reel those players off

Valencia at Wigan is one who would get on the bench

Easy.

Mark Wright, John Aldridge or Ray Houghton.

Good shout
I take it thats a centre half in Wright a centre midfield in Houghton and Forward in Aldridge
Fernando Hierro Bruno Ngotty centre Half Youri Djorkaeff JJ Okotcha centre Midfield, and Nickolas Anelka Nat Lofthouse up front
Maybe have a rethink though Wright may get on the bench
Guess Oxford are not one of the five.

Quite an interesting topic actually. I know we aren't in league 1 anymore but would be able to put forward Glenn Hoddle and Ossie Ardiles in for us. We also had 1990 World Cup finalist Nestor Lorenzo.

So is your thinking that if a club has a player that you deem worthy of getting into the Bolton 11 of all time then they are a bigger club that Bolton? George Best played for Stockport and Nuneaton Borough by the way, does that mean they are bigger clubs?

Two titles, two FA Cups, two League cups for Houghton vs winning the second tier playoffs with Hull for Okocha. Depends if you want someone who is gonna do a couple of sweet step-overs once every few games or someone consistent who is gonna win you some trophies, I guess?

Aldridge also banged in loads more than Anelka and Lofthouse. And Lofthouse was back after WW2 when the massive reset button had been pressed.

We only had him on loan but Jorge Costa gets into any side ahead of Ngotty also.

Of course everyone has their own factors to making up a dream team but I would probably have Aldridge over the Bolton pairing. That said I've not done a lot of research about Lofthouse, I know he's a legend in the game but would probably rather choose someone who played more recently. But that's just me.

Same as us . But we had Nigel Martyn ( Goalkeeper ) Alan Ball ( Midfield ) Larry LLoyd ( Centre Back ) Mick Channon ( Forward ) & Geoff Bradford ( Inside Forward ) who would probably get in.

To be boring, comparable stats for the English top flight: John Aldridge - 147 Appearances 88 goals (1.67 games per goal) whereas Nicolas Anelka - 364 appearances 126 goals (2.89 games per goal).

Also Anelka is a known sulky bad egg vs Aldridge who is a loveable Scouse rogue. Know who I'd rather have in the dressing room too.

This is a lovely debate and all that but neither are ahead of Simonsen so all a bit pointless really :cool1:

And to allow all of these creative types to flourish, I give you the colossus bestride the centre circle that is Didi Hamann. Accepted that by the time he pulled on the famous white shirt he rarely had the energy to get out of the centre circle, but it's also true that Youri Djorkaeff would be unlikely to describe his time at the Weebok as the pinnacle of his career.

Anelka didn't sulk at Bolton he brought the team together.Aldridge was far from being a loveable rogue, the Tranmere fans admit he was a unpleasant character.

Djorkaeff loved his time at Bolton any interview you see or article you read he speaks fondly off the Wanderers

John Barnes probably enjoyed his time at Charlton but doubt that was the pinnacle of his career.

Actually, there's another one. John Barnes.

Bloody hell, can any Bolton players get into an all time Charlton XI? That's the question.

We are not talking about the pinnacle off anybody's career, but about their time at any club.

Seems sound whenever I've seen him interviewed. Fact remains however that Anelka is confirmed as sulky and Aldridge has a far superior scoring record.
