do we have one liverpool fan on this forum that is english? i just want to know, there is no problem with being a foreign glory hunter absolutely no doubt about that. the word glory leads me to think they dont understand though, if they chose liverpool absolutely no doubt about that. unless they started following football in the 80s.
I support Liverpool 100% for the glory. When we win something, like the league cup in 2012, it makes me feel like I'm a better person than if I didn't support a team winning things all the time.

Wouldn't surprise me if United finish below Liverpool again, if they actually sign a half-decent forward player and Sturridge doesn't get injured for the season for a second consecutive year.

United won't be the force they were under Ferguson for a long, long time. If ever.

I'd say it's just as inevitable United will be on top again as it was inevitable City and Chelsea were going to win trophies when they started spending daft money. It's when not if.

Quite possible but while some Utd fans seem obsessed with only finishing above us my expectation/hope is for Lpool to finish as high as possible .I not really bothered about how many points we finish above any particular club.

I agree, the petty point scoring must end, the thread was in reaction to a Liverpool fan who spent the first season in 20 when you finished above us rubbing it in lol , and we promised to repay him :D

Spear does it firmly with tongue-in-cheek and a twinkle in his eye. Johnny just spouts bile.

BR is at the last chance saloon, LVG isn't. If Rodgers does go it will be a BRexit

well me and spear were right last season when some mocked us after we said Utd would finish above Liverpool.

Liverpool look like a really poor side, maybe that will change with their summer transfers. But if the season started tomorrow I would predict Utd would finish 15-20 points ahead of liverpool.

15 isn't so far fetched. We finished 8 points ahead of Liverpool last season and we were an absolute shambles for three quarters of the season. We'll need to do some good business in the transfer window for me to be confident of us actually doing that though.

Both teams didn't play that well last season. If both do, I don't see the difference being much at all either way.

Like I said a lot depends on who both teams end up buying. Liverpool have done a lot of business early on and none of it is particularly worrying from a United fan's point of view. We'll have to wait and see how well United buy.

I'm sure United will strengthen significantly, but if they leave it too late, then it could be like last season where they took a long time to gel, and even then only played well for about 6 games in a row.

Lpool were mostly rubbish last season after failing to replace the 50+ goals of Suarez/Sturridge. Pretty much played the entire season without a decent striker yet still finished only 8 pts behind Utd. Plus De Gea played out of his skin many games for Utd too. The comings and goings in the transfer market will be important for both clubs .

I said as much in my post. Liverpool have moved early and purchased a number of players already though and none of the signings are particularly worrying.

And tbh, they haven't needed to do major surgery as the foundations were there last season, its just they were a striker short and didn't have Sturridge fit, otherwise it would have went down to the wire. They have done good business so far for the players they can attract and I could see them having a good season. Of course the other top four teams haven't done any real business as yet so we'll see how things stand when the window closes and we are a couple of matches in (even with that horrendous away line-up! :D ).

Whether you worry or not isn't particularly important right now ,Steve.

For Liverpool the goal must be to strengthen the weak areas which were apparent last season and theres defo progress on that front . Firmino, Milner and Clyne are three who are most likely to be starters, Ings, Bogdan probably backups with Gomez being one for the future. Still left to sign is the key piece of the puzzle ie a quality striker.
That's a fair number of players to bed in so the amount of worrying you'll do this season will depend on how quickly these lads settle. :ohy:

It's the quality of the players you've signed (so far) that isn't worrying. It doesn't matter how well they "bed in" unless they all start suddenly start performing above and beyond anything they've done before. A player like Firmino would be a great signing to complement Sterling, as a replacement he's not much different. The rest are all underwhelming besides Clyne who is more of a potential singing than one to hit the floor running and make an instant impact.

I agree that you badly need a quality striker. Sturridge is brilliant but he's made of sugar glass. Bacca, a player a few Liverpool fans have said is their number one choice, seems to be off to Milan. There aren't many top strikers around to be bought at the moment. That's a worry for us too because our strikeforce last season was dire and all we've done is let Falcao go and seen Chicharito return.

Still we'll probably throw stupid money at a few top players and be alright. Liverpool need to be smarter than that and I'm not sure Rodgers is capable of that.

I think you're a bit off on your assessments tbh. Firmino is 23 and far more experienced and prolific than 20 yr old Sterling so he's a definite improvement and if Sterling stays that's okay too. Clyne is 24 yrs old and is more of the 'now' rather than potential tho no doubt he'll continue to improve. He's an upgrade on Johnson too. Both of those immediately improves the starting 11 as does Milner who brings brings loads of experience which our young side lacked last season.. I'm very pleased with the business that's been done so far, still need the striker and a new lb wouldn't hurt but don't be surprised to see us in the mix again this season for top four.

Bacca has gone to Milan, looks like Benteke is the target .
