I only post in troll threads like this to balance out the shite you lot come up with about Liverpool sonny Jim! :D

Come on now - Spear does that.

I don't.

Except that one time...in the CL thread...yesterday.

Have Liverpool and Man United both been so equally crap at the same time before?

At this rate, City could declare by February

606, TalkSport, the Sun, the Daily Mail - you have no shame in your entire being!
I don't read The Sun or The Mail thank you very much ;)

I do like radio phone in shows though, they are always a laugh :D

You are happy to quote them as gospel when they say anything negative about United though, even when it is clearly total bollocks!

By the way Spear used to ring up those phone-ins masquerading as a Liverpool fan. A lot of that goes on.

Its all good fun the way those shitty tabloids and that horrible rag The Daily Mail make up those stories, and they are quality in their ingenuity at times - that Neymar one had me crying with laughter it was a belter - it all adds to the soap opera that is the PL.

I could well imagine a lot of dissimulation does occur on these shows, particularly for the first callers as they invariably go way ott on one. May do it myself one of those days :D

We've just swanned United (see Chelsea) so if Liverpool can't get the victory we know they're in serious trouble.

After 5 games they'd be in trouble with a defeat? Na, they wouldn't be ideally placed, but they'd hardly be miles off the pace either.

Geez, if they can't beat a team that has been swanned in their previous game then yes, they're in serious trouble.

Liverpool look absolutely woeful this season. The squad seriously lacks quality, and the system they are trying to play right now just doesn't work for them at all.

Everyone likes to joke Liverpool are a midtable team, but I wouldn't be suprised if this is the year they really achieve that properly. Everton look much better than them, Spurs will probably finish ahead of them like usual, so a good season from a couple of other teams (Palace? Swansea?) and Liverpool are gonna end up 8th/9th.

(EDIT, just to add, I'm not just posting this now because they look crap so far. I'm pretty sure I posted this same thought earlier after seeing Liverpool's summer transfer business - which I still think was mostly crap)

The squad is good enough to be competitive, Rodgers isn't getting the best out of them and how he doesn't pick Sakho over Lovren I'll never know.

I think another good example was the amount of time it took him to take Firmino off today. His decision making is odd.

Enough to be competitive at what level? Man for man it's nowhere near top 4 anymore. United look mostly terrible this season so far, but are still a good distance in front of Liverpool. Very few Liverpool players would make it into the current United 11. And not many United players would make it into our 11.

Liverpool competitive for Europa? Probably, though unless Rodgers changes something I think they'll miss out. There is no creativity there whatsoever and they have always been bad defensively under Rodgers. I don't think Sturridge returning will even save them because he'd be getting no support. Everyone raves about Coutinho - and he is Liverpool's best player right now, but he's still way overrated and nowhere near good enough to drag Liverpool far up the table.

The squad is better than it was last season and they weren't that far away from CL football then. It does need tinkering with though and that is the issue currently that Rodgers isn't getting the best out of the forward positions to create the chances, although he seemingly recognised that yesterday in the postmatch interview. They aren't miles off being competitive imo. We'll see how they get on in the next couple of games, it is early yet, though they definitely need to get a couple of wins under their belt to get back in the mix.

I think Sterling is a much bigger loss than Liverpool fans like to make out. Though I appreciate he wasn't in good form towards the end of last season, he was still Liverpools best player IMO. He was and still is much better than Coutinho.

Thinking about it more last night, Liverpool probably won't finish 8th/9th and probably will make top 7. But I think they are going to finish at the very least 10 points away from a top 4 position, and mostly likely more than that.

I'd disagree with that, but it doesn't matter really what quality the squad's perceived to be if the wrong players are picked and none of them are utilised properly!

Sterling wasn't better than Coutinho last season and he doesn't have the Brazilians guile. He played well for about 6 games last year whilst Coutinho was the one that got Liverpool through a lot of their games.

Anyway he'll be back soon enough and I hope Sturridge can have a good season as they need them both badly. I didn't see the match yesterday but by all accounts Firmino didn't pull up any trees, that's looking already like being a waste of another 30 mill. Hope I'm wrong and he's just starting slowly but I'm not holding out much hope at the moment.
