Not really because although wages are calculated consistently i.e. anyone under contract is calculated at the average, wages will still be all over the place for another two or three years yet.Surely the money is to cover wages. In which case as every club in each division is (supposedly) paying the same, the payout will be the same.
Why should owners at some clubs get more than others when their wages are the same.
Have we not already refused help from the Premier League. Anyone who thinks the government is going to step in is deluded. Better run industries than football have been allowed to die. As have Bury and Macclesfield.
I said in a early post that salaries should be capped at 1k in lge 2.
The Premier League have said all along that any bail out will be to cover the lost revenues due to the pandemic. This means lost gate revenues.
They do not want the money to cover losses due to badly run clubs. I get that.
If a club has been running with wages at an unsustainable level and has been covered by the owner or not paying other bills that is their problem and one of their own making.
Any bail out will, and should be, to cover los
Why not? Salaries aren't the same across the division. Even in two or three years when old contracts end, not every L1 Club will be paying £2.5m a year because of either relegation from the Championship or because the Club can't afford that salary bill anyway.I still don’t see how you can have an equitable distribution based on attendances. Sunderland @ 30,000 would get how much compared to, say, Burton @ 4,000. 7 times as much? That’s ridiculous.
The only way based on attendances would be to divide the £50m by the average number of fans of the 48 clubs and multiply by their attendance average.
As a very rough guide approx 5 million fans attended leagues 1 and 2 last season, so divide that between the £50m and you get a tenner per fan. Sunderland had 572,000 fans so would get £5.7m and Accrington would get about £480,000.
However it ends up being distributed, what checks and balances would be put in place to prevent this money disappearing into the ass pockets of the less than honest owners.
Does not surprise me !A lot of regular ST holders didn’t get one this year, due to it being unlikely to ever attend a game.
