Hardly the most inspiring list Karl Robinson apart.

He's apparently already ruled himself out too.

I'd like us to take our time with this. Give it a couple of months if we have to. We're in a good position without any serious thought of the play-offs, there's no need to rush an appointment.

He didn't help himself though. He was always getting in there with snide little remarks towards the fans, it was pretty much the first thing he did during his interview on the pitch at Wembley after we beat FGR. I don't ever recall him holding his hands up and admitting he got something wrong, either. Despite this though, I liked him. He was very articulate, great eye for players (particularly strikers and defenders), instilled a great belief in the dressing room and didn't let any prima donnas disrupt that.

Still plenty to learn, but with a tactically adept assistant alongside him (don't know if Doig will follow him?) he could be a very good appointment for Shrewsbury.

Eternally grateful to him for stopping the rot. Good luck to him.
They were probably because of the stick he got. There always seemed to be a feeling that Grimsby fans thought he was under achieving and expected more than he could give.

Please take Ainsworth off our hands.
Can't see a Lincoln City legend taking the reigns at BP!

Like others have said, there's more to this than is being said. I can't believe Hurst would let two players like Amond and Nsiala go just like that; me thinks him and Fenty have had a fallout over budgets (same about the conditioning coach).

I doubt Nsiala and Amond had anything to do with budgets, and people read too much into these things. Nsiala went because of the fan abuse and who can blame him. Amond was offered one year, he wanted two but never came back to negotiate, simply as.

I am disappointed with this, he did a good job for us and I'll be eternally grateful that he got us out of nonleague. And having the third longest-serving manager in the country was a point of pride as I can't stand the managerial merry-go-round. I wish him well but part of me hopes Shrewsbury get relegated so we can face his team next year (and beat them).

Though unlikely, Robinson or Adkins would be my preferred choices.

It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world imo. There are better managers but there's definitely worse, which is a worry.

Hopefully the next manager addresses our home form and gets us playing with freedom like we did at the start of the season.

Not sure what your first sentence is referring to? You're right though, there were plenty of fans who felt that "only" finishing in the playoff spots was an underachievement despite not ever having the top budget in the division. There were also a lot of fans who knew that top 5 was our realistic target and that that meant the playoff lottery. Unless you listened to his interviews week in week out it might be difficult to grasp why he rubbed many Grimsby fans up the wrong way. Like I mentioned, he interviewed very well when talking about the football. However, he was too often too dismissive of our supporters. He wasn't bothered about adhering himself to the fans, which didn't really affect his performance but it definitely limited how likeable he was.

Also, I'm with Frealaf. There might well have been something to the tune of what Les and GG mention, but can't agree that the Toton and Podge sales can be linked to this. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the recent Rotherham vacancy got him thinking about where he wants to go with his career.

Anyway, I would absolutely love Holloway (saw him at 26/1) but it'll never happen. Guaranteed entertainment. Adkins or Robinson, also unrealistic, would be great. Not bowled over by any of the other names.

They've been up and down all morning. Nigel Adkins down to 6/1, he's my first choice but I doubt we can tempt him.

Don't read anything into odds, you could put a quid on yourself and make the list.

I normally wouldn't but it's just been said that we've already got a shortlist and we're looking to appoint as soon as possible. I think at the minute it's all a bit random but it's still interesting to see the names being knocked about.

Here's the current whack. I can't see us getting the Cowley's but I would be happy with them.

Cowley was just asked about it in our press conference and gave a bit of a non-answer ("my focus is on Lincoln City and tomorrow night's game").

I get the feeling the Cowley's see Lincoln as a project and will move on after two years, so I'd be surprised if they considered this to be honest when they've only just got started. The only way I can see them going is if someone like Southend or Colchester came calling, or some massive club they couldn't say no to (no, not Grimsby!). But I think most Lincoln fans are resigned to losing them sooner rather than later as they're far too good for non-league.

The list of managers hardly catches the eye. Adkins and Holloway are unrealistic, Evans is great manager but a foul human being as well as being unrealistic and the rest are just random names. Knew the Cowley's wouldn't come too. I'd like someone like Phil Brown but that's pretty unlikely seeing as Southend aren't doing that bad.

I wonder if John Hughes fancies another crack at English football, treated like shite by the board when he was with us and never got a chance to show what he was about.

According to Matt Dean of Radio Humberside, GTFC already have a shortlist of 6 with one preferred candidate.

Looks like we may have been expecting something like this for a while now.

Wouldn't surprise me if we went for Burnett or McDermott to be honest. Not sure either would be great appointments though.

Which Rob Edwards is high up on the odds btw, the first team coach at Wolves or the ex Tranny manager?

The only one that really jumps out on that list, that would be a good appointment and maybe interested is Adkins but probably still very unrealistic

Neil Aspin wouldn't be terrible, in my opinion. I definitely don't fancy any of our guard, not Mcdermott or Burnett and certainly not Woods or Curtis Woodhouse.

I quite like that nice old Grandad dude in charge at Dover, too. Get him in and ask him to bring Ricky Miller as well.

The only non league managers I'd even consider would be Askey or Cowley and I'd still be wary of both. Burnett or McDermott would be atrocious appointments.

Surprised by this but as others have said Grimsby fans have never really loved him, all in all though his cv with Grimsby is pretty impressive especially looking at their league position currently. It's a new challenge for him but bloody hell its a big one, Shrewsbury are sleep walking to relegation this season, and are already 6 points adrift. If he's had assurances he will keep his job if relegated then I suppose Shrewsbury are better equipped than Grimsby at the minute to get back up.

Oh and as for a replacement I'd have thought maybe Alan Stubbs could be in the frame.

Nigel Adkins now evens with Sky Bet, would be absolutely delighted if that one comes to fruition. Fingers crossed!
