Would Exeter City appoint someone like David Artell or Paul Wotton even though he played for us.

We haven’t been given the official reason by Bonner turned it down - have you heard anything? I assume it’s due to loyalty and/or not fancying the step up yet and/or not thinking he can take Rotherham any further than they are presently (with all due respect, your position in the championship is exceptional and improving much upon that will be tough) and/or deciding he didn’t fancy upping sticks to the norf.

I thought Rotherham would be a safe bet for him at this stage of his career.
I was told Bonner accepted but it was subject to paying us £500k compensation. Rotherham refused to do that so Bonner declined their offer.

This Matt Taylor situation is becoming farcical. Really badly managed and annoying people even more who are pretty upset already. Amateurish.

We have no idea. We are really in the position of appointing a manager so not sure what the tactic would be. Last time there was an obvious internal replacement, which there isn't now. Personally I couldn't care less if they are ex-Argyle, as long as they do the job.

Dale is at the Tory Party conference today (maybe for longer), we don't have a DoF, we are in no place to recruit a new manager however desperately it appears we need one.....

I thought Dale was a Labour backer?

Wasn't he really close to the old Labour Stroud MP (the name escapes me, David Drew was it?)

Oh yes, very much so, he's not turned Tory! - he's there "in a media capacity" (as a correspondent of the Daily Express oddly enough), plus, I presume less officially to promote his ideas around energy. He's said he aspires to become a Labour MP, and this is the stated justification for his intended sale of Ecotricity (while retaining FGR).

Yes, he's close to Drew, who was at various times Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the club

Lot of time for Dave Drew, used to catch him on the terraces at away games and one of the few MPs not to be on the take when they published the expenses scandal documents. Worked a proper job for years first and was selected by local party not some wonk parachuted in from London.

I think it's the coaching staff that's holding things up. Clubs obviously agreed compensation for Taylor before he was spoken to, but now he's agreed and wants to take people with him they're quibbling about that. Particularly Scott Brown, whose status as our backup keeper complicates things.

It's a farce. But at the same time, its hilarious.

P.S. I blame Derby.

Snap, have spoken with him a few times, likeable bloke.

Heard that when he was MP for Stroud he would often sit on a park bench on a Saturday morning, for people to meet him, rather than sitting behind a desk in an office or giving his constituency the swerve when he didn't need anything from it.

Tisdale has been 4/1 favourite today. There’s no way he’d come back here as I think too many bridges were burnt the last time. It’d be a disaster.

Artell seems well fancied too. Did well at Crewe, although it fell apart last season.

I’d love either Luke Garrad or Andy Woodman but not convinced we’d be in for either.

Zero chance Tisdale returns. The bookies are having a bubble with that idea.

Artell is a bit more plausible. Jon Hill is already in Exeter, but I dont think he quite has the right profile for an immediate appointment just now, maybe in a couple of years he will step up.

Personally would like to see us approach Matt Gill from Cardiff, he loves City and has been steadily progressing as a manager.

Luke Garrard, Neil Ardley and Andy Woodman are also names floating around on Exeweb. Think any of those 3 would be acceptable to me.

Garrard is a weird one down at Boreham Wood, every season he has a constant array of attacking talent in his sides but he has such a boring mentality, they are often the lowest scoring in the league even when finishing in the playoffs, lots of single goal wins and a lot of draws, amazingly he's under zero pressure there with his bonkers chairman and their 300 fans.

Woodman is a long ball, kick fuck out of the opposition merchant.

We wont accept hoofball merchants. Whoever comes in will be given a mandate to play football. We have to do it like that because we rely so heavily on youngsters coming through and being sold on to higher divisions.

Big, hard thugs just dont pay the bills. Double 'ard bastards kickin' t' shite out of one another might cut it at this level but if we want to sell players to premiership and championship sides they have to have the skills.

Surprised you've named checked those three.

Garrard probably the closest you'd expect from an Exeter appointment but Woodman is so, so far away. Hoof and long throws from Bromley, they're more of a rugby side at times.
