I understand our two ex players Leahy and Hanlan had quite bad injuries

This, basically.

Both were stretchered off, and then, to make the stoppage time even longer, we couldn’t restart the game until a free ambulance could get to the ground (the one that was there having had to take a player to hospital) - apparently you have to have an ambulance on standby which I guess makes sense if there is a medical emergency.

What has changed, you were flying at the start. If its just injuries not much he can do?
We had Nombe at the start, we haven't replaced him. A few defeats and we lost confidence. Yes we have injuries but no more than most on here, its just that we have a thin squad so they are exposed more.
It may be that Caldwell wanted more players but was turned down by the board so not 100% his fault, but the players he has got in aren't really League One standard and he seems to have made players who were well thought of worse, like Hartridge and Kite.
To top it off, a player who was told he was surplus to requirements is now ripping it up at the league leaders.

Sounds very nasty .

Hopefully both are ok.

See Evans is trying to make a story out of it .

We had this situation last season with a cardiac arrest in the crowd. The second ambulance arrived promptly but this season we now have two ambulances on standby so I’m surprised you don’t as I understand we employ the same crowd safety team.

Avalanche of calls for Caldwell out.

Won't happen though, board is soft as shite

I know this would be the lazy link but looks like Matt Taylor has just been let go by Rotherham.

Des Buckingham and Luke WIlliams in the running according to Radio Oxford. Candidates to be interviewed today.

After Ruben Rodrigues' comments on Saturday, Luke Williams' name being released definitely won't please Notts Co fans.

The odd forum/social media post suggesting that Michael Skubala, current Leeds U21 Head Coach, will be appointed this afternoon - although he’s still not even on the next manager odds list!

Odds often mean little, when in January we were all worried DC would go Pompey and followed the odds closely they were different odds on favs all the time.

That’s just Ruben ain’t it, lad’s a complete fruitcake with no filter. Love him though.

I’ve not heard anything from our end to suggest it’s anything more than chatter at this stage. He’s going to move on sooner or later, will go to the top.

Lots of our fans want him back but really can’t see it. As Denzel said, the board won’t sack Caldwell because “we do things differently at Exeter City”. Our form has been atrocious and while we have had injuries, something is very wrong. The players’ body language is poor and rumours of training ground fights are being leaked. Of course, this stuff happens all the time, but all is not well.

As for Taylor, he’ll get another job soon enough. Not sure how I’d feel if he came back here as I like to move forward, but he’d certainly be well received.

I suspect it isn't him anyway but he was mentioned as well as Des Buckingham on the Radio Oxford radio sports news slot this afternoon. Presenter Jerome Sale has good contacts throughout the game.

He was also discussed on the 'The Dub', an OUFC podcast produced by Radio Oxford today. Basically the same people with George Elek and the likes of ex player Ben Purkiss added).

George Elek didn't think it was the right time to appoint LW anyway as he is more outright attacking (you'll know, I haven't a clue tbh) than we are set up for. In the summer, yes as he can work with the team pre-season to get his approach across but mid-season no because we are set up differently.

Bookies have closed betting for us but that could just be them getting jumpy. I'd have thought your ITKs would be saying something more than chatter if it was happening with LW by now like ours did with Manning.

We’re wildly attacking and LW has the defenders and goalkeepers taking all sorts of risks playing it out from the back. The result is an incredibly entertaining team that plays some of the best football in the country when it works, but is more prone to shipping five in a match than you would ideally like this season.

I think there’s an element of logic to him being a risky mid-season appointment. Our shape and style is pretty unique, and he’s regularly talked about new signings needing a few months to get their heads round his ideas before we see the best of them. Some of the weird quirks here like never, ever crossing a corner into the box and elaborate goal kick routines might not go down quite as well elsewhere without the proof of success that we’ve had with him here.

He is great, though. Will manage at the highest level and would be fascinated to see what he can do with some more technically adept players at the back.

If this journalist is to be believed (don't know anything about his reliability) then Des Buckingham underwent a 2nd interview today:

That said it could be reliable as our Head of Recruitment and the club are now following him on Instagram apparently and some of those who have got things right in the past on our forum ahead of others are saying it is a done deal.

Buckingham makes a lot of sense for us. From Oxford, former youth player and coach here under Wilder. Gained a lot of experience around the world and would be instantly popular if he came back. I think the fact he is part of the city group of coaches, that Manning was also part of, is the icing on the cake really. It should be a very smooth transition on the playing side of things.

Skubala it is. Make sense, from Nott'm, looks a very varied coaching career. Tom Shaw stays on. Lets see- just want exciting football!

This feels like more of a gamble than Kennedy even though Skubala's background is far more varied than just Academy coaching (worked for the FA, UEFA and England). Tom Shaw stepping up from first team coach (and interim manager) to assistant with a new coach coming in at some point.

Gotta hand is to the Board though, they don't half try to think outside the box, don't like playing it safe and manage to keep everything schtum as well until the final hours.

With having to agree compensation with Leeds for him, to get the paperwork/legalities out the way and then being appointed today, seems the Buckingham betting was way off (is his buyout at CFG true?!) because that Friday shift would presumably have afternoon shift would probably have happened after we'd agree a deal for Skubala.

3½ deal, down from the 5 year ones we've handed out recently!

We are negotiating compensation for the chosen candidate according to the local rag. One of Des Buckingham, Andrew Crofts or Paddy McCarthy likely then, unless another managed to sneak under the radar of media and ITKs.

I thought you were appointing Karl Robinson?

Just don't let him meet the women's team!
He seems the bookies favourite, but rumours on our forum we are also talking to Matt Taylor who i dont think is really proven in this league.

At least Robinson will be able to understand most of our scouse squad!

Bristol Live reporting he’s being interviewed.

So Taylor, Robinson, Monk & Mangan then apparently.

I reckon they’ll go for Robinson or Taylor tbh.

Not a great choice tbf but this is Rovers. Are any really worth getting rid of Barton for?

Not proven? We were mid table when he left.
He'd definitely do a job for you.

Tbh in lower leagues you never really know how it going to work out. As time has home though, I do think it was right to get rid. I only wish he had the chance for the easier fixture list we’ve recently had

Looks like the large compensation payment hasn’t put us off recruiting Des Buckingham.

Assuming what is rumoured is accurate plus we have the Manning/Hogg/Krause compensation to offset as well.

Robinson had us playing some good football for a fair while tbf and we did make the play offs twice. It only fell apart because of the off field stuff with him which from the outside made him become unprofessional, badly affecting the staff and players. We were bad from the January the season before until he was sacked, in the meantime wasting a summer and costing a chunk with the likes of Sam Baldock's contract etc.

If Robinson has his head on right then he'll do a decent job for you I reckon. Just ignore his post match interviews and expect plenty of signings from one agency.

I will add, for somebody who had no affiliation with the club before, he was excellent when Joey Beauchamp died and for the match vs Cambridge where Joey was honoured by the club.

I'd like Gary Monk. If not him I'd go for Taylor.
