Robinson had us playing some good football for a fair while tbf and we did make the play offs twice. It only fell apart because of the off field stuff with him which from the outside made him become unprofessional, badly affecting the staff and players. We were bad from the January the season before until he was sacked, in the meantime wasting a summer and costing a chunk with the likes of Sam Baldock's contract etc.

If Robinson has his head on right then he'll do a decent job for you I reckon. Just ignore his post match interviews and expect plenty of signings from one agency.

I will add, for somebody who had no affiliation with the club before, he was excellent when Joey Beauchamp died and for the match vs Cambridge where Joey was honoured by the club.
Don’t worry, we’re pretty used to having to ignore post match interviews, probably more than most

Hmm, I don't think I'd want Karl Robinson anywhere near my club at any level. There are *some* positives. But...

Everything else aside, fundamentally I'm just not convinced he is capable to getting a side promoted. In terms of the finer details he's not capable of managing his own emotions and his management style is utter chaos. He's alienated far too many in football to recruit effectively any longer, his tactical awareness is nowhere near that of say, a Liam Manning and his behind closed doors condescending and largely appalling attitude towards certain people make him a very dislikable chap.

Looks like it’s probably not happening now, I’m surprised tbh, I thought it would be him.

Looks like Taylor, Monk & Mangan now.

I'm glad its not Robinson. Out of the others mentioned my favourite would be Monk but I would'nt be dissapointed with Taylor.

Not sure I get Monk tbh. Apart from Swansea, he’s never held a job over 18 months, even Swansea was less than 2 years.

If he did that at L1 level we’d be livid at the appointment, he’s just done it at a higher level, but I’m not sure that necessarily means he’s a good manager?

Has Monk managed anyone in the last 3 years?

How come his name has suddenly sprung up again?

Nope, to the first point. Which also worries me. I’d be keep to learn what he’s been up to

I was kind of expecting Matt Taylor to take a little bit of time before committing to a new club, but I guess Rovers would be highly attractive for him. I believe he still has his house down here so he could conceivably commute to Bristol each day.

Wherever he ends up, it’s a big job for him personally, as another sacking would see his stock fall dramatically. But I think he’d be a solid appointment and of course he knows how to get the best out of Jevani Brown too, so wouldn’t be a bad option for Rovers imo.

So Caldwell has now been banned from driving. The first sentence of the second paragraph is brutal from the court, but it did make me laugh!

And to say this will hinder our January business is a bit desperate.

He won't need his car for either Torquay,Taunton or Tiverton. Just get the local bus.

It comes across as a wind up, with the comment about the same number of points as his team!!

Yeah it does but I can’t imagine our journo having the balls to make it up when they interview Caldwell weekly.

Either way, Caldwell’s week could get a lot worse if we lose tomorrow. Wonder who will transport his belongings back home.

Can’t actually believe he’s still in the job tbh

Bonner gone, a real shame but entirely necessary after recent and not so recent form. Thanks Mark you achieved great things in your time here.

Probably the right decision. Our form has dropped off a cliff, the last three games we've barely put up a fight. Biggest ever defeat in the derby. Even before the last couple games, awful performances such as against Orient and Cheltenham were fairly common. As a whole the last season and a half has been fairly poor.

He's done a lot of good for this club and given us so many memories but ultimately the last year and a half hasn't really met expectations. Comments in the last couple weeks have been very defeatist and negative, he's not been showing the mentality of a club that has been at this level for the last 3 years.

He needs a break. Perhaps in the future he can return in some role, but for now best of luck to him.

A real bittersweet moment but certainly the right choice.

We will be an attractive club to many managers with our squad and the ambition of our owners. I can imagine managers like Neill Harris, Matty Taylor etc will be applying for it.

I'm not sure we could afford him but Gareth Ainsworth would be the perfect manager to get a tune out of this current squad who are a lot better than what they're currently showing.

This is when you know it's time.

With Wade Elliott at the start of the season, the players were battling, even though we never looked like scoring. We were losing by the odd goal every week, but the players were putting a shift in.

Then we got battered 4-1 in the Pizza cup by Rovers, lost 1-0 to a poor Exeter (and it should have been more) before being well and truly battered by Posh and it was clear the players had given up fighting for Wade. At that moment, he had to go.

Its time for the Crosby discussed I think, nothing is changing and he's been let down again with recruitment from the striker side but trying the same thing week in week out is madness.

At the moment cup success is keeping him in a job I would say (and he's now got the luxury of 2 away cup games which seem to be producing our best performance levels) but the Exeter game is massive.

The lads are certainly fighting and its not a lack of fight, in most area's there is the quality, the midfield is outstanding but we've literally no goal threat (aside from a midfielder who has 7 or 8 goals keeping us afloat in Garrity), largely the performance levels are not too bad and all but one game has been the odd goal defeat but it cant go on as it is.

I felt AC deserved a chance but its not working out at the moment and he is a great guy and hope he can turn it around as it stands we can't afford to wait much longer.

Cambridge have pulled the plug (difficult one that similar to DC with us last season with the goodwill and legend status he has there) and Exeter look likely to and any rebound would see us down the bottom 4 if we don't react.

I’m truly gutted. As others have said, it’s definitely the right time as we have been beyond awful for a while now. Last night’s performance was appalling, the fight had gone.

But he’s a total legend and built us back into a very respectable club after the shit show we had going on before. He over achieved to get us promoted and deserves to be remembered as probably our best manager since the late 90s, maybe even early 90s. And he’s a top guy to boot, rare you get nice guys in football.

A real bittersweet moment but certainly the right choice.

I respect Ainsworth as a manager and what he has achieved but his football is unbearable to watch, we were all calling it out when he was at Wycombe as being something we would struggle to get behind. I’m keen for a bit more grit but think that would test many of us.

I don’t know what/who the answer is yet as I’m still reeling a little but I’d be cautious about Ainsworth.

Gutted, bonner has been a breath of fresh air for 3 years with some awesome memories made, I really can’t speak highly enough of him, wish him all the success possible.

Doesn't seem like anything happened today. Probably another meeting where they sat around congratulating each other on being a fan owned club and not making any actual decisions. Limp on until Saturday week then.

Ainsworth is the very definition of a manager striking it lucky at one specific club. Avoid like the plague.

Sounds like we’ve moved quickly and it’s Danny Cowley. No idea if that’s true or not but that’s what I’m told.

I did think Cowley as soon as I heard the news on Bonner. He seems much more fixed on location now with his kids being older, settled in schools and his daughter with Chelsea and England.

I read an article in the Mirror from him recently and his kids are settled in schools down south but that didn't stop him having an interview with Bradford so clearly won't be an issue geographically.

I think we'd be the perfect fit for each other currently and can certainly see it happening.
