Isthmian League 2015/2016

Thanks for all your (mostly) kind words on here. So off to the National League South it is for our little old club. Wouldn't have seen that coming a few years ago !! .

Don't really feel we need to make any apologies for being promoted, we had a brilliant run towards the end of the season, conceeding very few goals, we have scored more than anyone else over the season, have the best goal difference and have two of the top five scorers in the Ryman Premier.

First and foremost, and without wishing to sound patronising, I'd like to pay special credit to the supporters of Dulwich Hamlet for making our play off final day so special. They came to Stanford and Corringham in great numbers, drank our bar and the local pubs dry, were noisy but never nasty. They waited for the post match presentations to finish, then ambled onto the pitch to join in the celebrations.

We would like to think that, despite not having the grandest of stadiums, we have done our best to make all visiting fans feel welcome at Rookery Hill, and we certainly depart the scene with nothing but good memories of our visits to everyone else in the league. Don't think we have ever felt threatened on our travels, even in some pretty tense matches.

How we fare in the National League is anyones guess. Knowing John Coventry as I do, I'm certain he will give it his best shot, but will say in public that avoiding relegation will be our goal.

A lot will probably depend on whether he can prize a bit more dosh out of our sponsors to keep his key players, and attract the "right" sort of newcomers.

Great to see Wraight doing well for you and scoring loads of goals. He was always going to be to good for us and our level but will interesting to see how he can do in the CS.
And Rickie Hayles got 2 goals! He was a really fantastic player as well.

Looking back at our season and what could have been. At the end of January we were just outside the play-offs and in the Essex senior cup semi, before a complete implosion led to us only winning 4 games after that, losing 13 and drawing 1. Oh well.

Well, if Concord Rangers can prosper in the National South I'm sure ETU can, especially as it seems that their success is down to good management.

I forgot there was an ETU poster on here. That's why you got promoted from the Ryman. Not because of your football, because of your representation on 1FF. It's why Wealdstone went up, it's why Maidstone went up, it's why Sutton went up & God damn it this time next year it'll be why Dulwich & Kingstonian go up (with us as champions, of course).

The season is barely over & we've already received some worrying news. Rob Torrey, our longest current serving player by a country mile & one of the best keepers in the league, could be moving on. Probably to follow Dowson to Conference South football with Hampton so the rumour mill goes.

Almost at the light at the end of the tunnel now (hopefully!). We've been 'recommended' to move into our new ground. That will surely see us in the Isthmian next season.
No news on our new manager yet, hope it's someone good though.

Our relegation a couple of weeks ago has pretty much fully sunk in and I'm already looking forward to 2016/17 season
