Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Nipped home for lunch just after news broke of the first one hitting and was watching live as the second one went in.

My dad was on an AA flight to Washington at the time.

Nice touch Smat. Class.

Was talking to someone at work about this today. He said he remembers where he was when it happened, 13 years ago. He said he was at work. I was at work also.

Just goes to show. Doesn't it?

I was watching Neighbours and waiting for Diagnosis Murder to come on. The continuity announcer interrupted with some "breaking news". I assumed the Queen Mum had died or some such (this was before Twitter, remember), but no, it was far worse than that.

That night I went to Ikea in Walsall with my mother, to buy things I would need for my imminent move to university. We listened to Talksport in the car, who had decided to replace their football phone in with a topical affair. We turned it off on the way back, as the callers became increasingly vituperative and demented, the station's benighted listeners demonstrably unable to offer an opinion on anything weightier than whether England were wasting Paul Scholes or not.

RIP.

Was enroute to my next lesson when I noticed the receptionist and several dinner ladies crowded around the monitor with hands on mouths.

Was a WdF kind of day. to say the least.

Had flown from Amsterdam to Detroit the previous night. Was eating breakfast watching TV when the first plane hit and everyone thought it was a terrible disaster. The moment the second plane hit, I just remember the utter silence from the TV presenters. Longest silence I ever heard on TV. Because everyone knew what it meant. Kids were sent home from school and people evacuated from towers all over the US.

I was also on the first international flight back in to Newark, a Continental flight from Amsterdam a few weeks later. You could still see the dust in the air over the end of Manhattan as we approached. Pretty much everyone on the plane was in tears.

It was the day the world changed. We have made few good decisions since.

I was at college when I heard the news. I didn't really appreciate the magnitude of it until I had got home and switched on the telly.

I still shudder when I watch the clips of those planes hitting the towers. Absolutely horrific.

I was at home as I had taken the day off from school cos I was ill. The breaking news interrupted the episode of Teletubbies I was watching, which annoyed me.

True story.

I was in a pub in Sheffield after my lectures had finished. Fucking morons in the pub had it on TV but didn't turn the music off that they were also playing. RIP the victims of 9/11

I had no idea till after school, think I was Y5 at the time. My mum was talking about it to another parent (still remember which parent it was), really didn't appreciate the magnitude. Even when my mum was watching the small TV in her room hand over mouth. Strange that the severity never hit me at that age but can still remember the details of it.

People always forget that Mother Teresa died on the same day because she wasn't 'glamorous' but it's important to remember her too.

RIP.

She died 5th September 1997, a few days after Princess Di which overshadowed her death!?

I really don't get the outpouring of grief that happened for her.

Teacher burst in on my afternoon music class to announce that the twin towers in London had blown up.

Much relief when I got home and found out London was fine

11/9 the day London survived

I returned home from high school where we didn't hear a thing about it. While cooking some Chow Mein Super Noodles I recieved a call from someone I didn't like asking if I'd seen the suicide bombers in New York. That was the first time I'd heard the term 'suicide bomber' before. I watched it unfold from my starting point until now it feels.
