So the new ITV EFL programme will have Hugh Woozencroft and Jules Breach as presenters. I really hope they don't fuck around with the proramme as well as the presenters as I thought the Quest programme was excellent. I won't however hold my breath and I bet the time slot is curtailed somewhat.

I agree. The Quest program kept it simple and didn't overdo the frills. Plus, I always knew that if I fast forwarded to the halfway point I'd always go straight to League One.

Hope ITV don't fill it with lengthy "colour" pieces. E.g. "we spoke to Bradford's long serving kit man......" Yawn....

Should have gone with Colin Murray, he did great on Quest.

To be honest we all know with ITV there will be at best a couple of minutes at the end of the show for L1 and L2.

I thought Colin Murray was excellent. I don't know why he doesn't get bigger gigs.
Agree - did his research and seemed interested in all clubs trying to talk about them all as best as he could given the limitations.

Seemed less forced as a programme than other incarnations, though the fan stuff was nauseating, our lot anyway

I'm not sure he's bothered by them. He's happy doing what he does - he's got his 5 Live show, Fighting Talk, the snooker on Eurosport and his column in the Metro.

He's big on morals as well. This is a guy who left his mid-morning show on Talksport the moment The Sun took over the station.

I didn't like Murray much when he was at Radio 1, but I used to listen to Fighting Talk religiously until about 3/4 years ago and I really wamed to him after he took the hosting role on there. His other big BBC podcast, Blood on the Tracks, was also brilliant.

Colin Murray was excellent and the quest production was very good. His knowledge of all 72 clubs was and is exceptional. Some of the guests are very knowledgeable, such as Ali maxwell and that George chap. So to fuck it up now would be unforgivable.
I will make judgement when I’ve seen it - but it’s got a lot to live up to.
If I hear us called “Jimmy floyds Burton Albion” then that is not a good sign.
Let’s hope they do their homework, and talk sense and not in platitudes and sound bites.
Show some good action - not just the goals, and spread the coverage about.
Not everyone gives a fuck about the top 6 championship clubs.

Suppose on a related point we should all be grateful to Rooney today for sparing us from the sum total of their L1 coverage being about “Wayne Rooneys Derby County”.

Last time they had it the show was pretty much a Leeds wankfest for 75% of it and scraps for the rest. Hopefully with them in the Prem they might now allow a few more mins for the bottom two leagues.

I was with you until I realised we now have “Vincent kompanys Burnley” and an excuse to show that goal he scored against Leicester.

Last time ITV had it they still called it The Championship!!

The final days of League 1 and League 2 were done in 10 minute roundups. The 2008 one is on Youtube, and whilst I love it because we're one of the big games on it, being a midtable team on there would have been completely shite.

Isn't it still the Championship?

I mean the show was called The Championship. They didn't even try to hide the fact that they gave no fucks about Leagues 1 and 2. It was on a Sunday morning at around 8:30.

And it was shit. Presented by people who couldn’t care less about the clubs they are talking about.
If this reboot is shite people will turn off quickly. I will just watch YouTube instead, most goals are on there by 7pm sat night.

Suppose this time they will get Salford and the CO92 to be their L2 coverage as well. Am sure everyone will love that.

The only thing I have ever liked with ITV coverage was back in the day they did a late night highlights package and some of them especially L1 and L2 they had some of the most brilliantly biased club commentators calling the game like this one against Stockport (featuring a then 40 year old Kevin Ellison).

It’ll be on at 9pm on ITV4 - which means it won’t be available in HD, unlike EFL on Quest

I think that's a bit harsh, it was usually hosted by Matt Smith or Gabriel Clarke, who both did a decent job. It was just so Championship centric.

I'd listen to some of the talking in between but I usually skipped through most of that and watched the highlights.

ITV don't exactly have a good history of taking on football highlight shows do they! They made a right pigs ear of MOTD all those years ago.

I remember the U2 theme which felt wrong replacing the MOTD theme. Ads ruined it they didn't show a lot of some of the lesser games and they also tried sticking it on at prime time which was a failure.

Best thing ITV did was all the regional football programmes(Soccer Sunday, Goals on Sunday etc.)at about 12.30pm in the early '90s. Goals on Sunday was hilariously biased towards Barnsley for some reason, they were the main game every other week.

Nationwide League Extra was decent, still got some video tapes full of it somewhere.

I did that with Quest, no point waiting a hour and a half waiting for our game when i can get up in the morning and watch 2 mins of it on Youtube.

Think it was a 7pm/7.30pm start when they had it?
