A nice summing up of the main managers so far this season, and some damning comment about Mourinho in the process.

Liverpool spent £70m in the transfer window just gone whereas City spent a record £190m on an already excellent squad and both teams have the same amount of points coming into this weekends fixtures - I'd say Klopp should have a higher rating than Guardiola.

The money argument counts for Jose too and 6/10 is possibly too high for him.

I agree, particularly with Guardiola drawing another game at home today he should be winning. He has done better than I thought he would so far however.

Perhaps Guardiola's stock is viewed as being higher than it should be by McNulty purely because his most obvious and direct comparison in Mourinho is by contrast doing so shit.

Well not really, let's not forget Klopp had half a season to weed out the shite and this summer was about improving what he had, whereas Pep will have been doing both tasks this summer. In that £180mill there's 2 players who have yet to join the squad who could make a massive difference. Guardiola has made a lot of changes yet still won't have the side he wants yet. Klopp should be there or thereabouts given the time he had with them last season. Guardiola has been implementing ideas and a style of play that's new to a lot of the players in 3 months of competetive football, Klopp has had longer to get his ideas across to his players.

"Chris Smalling doesn't feel he can play 100 per cent with his pain and Luke Shaw told me this morning he was not in condition to play"
"There is a difference between the brave, who want to be there at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make the difference."
"We have players with problems, players on the pitch with problems. Every sport - and I know that because I have friends from other sports who play at the highest level - you play when you're not 100 per cent. To compete you have to go to the limit."

There might be an element of truth there but I'm not sure it will go down too well amongst the players. The guy is his own worst enemy. Some things need to be said behind closed doors if you want to have something approaching harmony at the club, he doesn't appear to understand that.

Surely the Utd fans are getting tired of this already?

Obviously never learnt to stop constantly shifting blame elsewhere. When you spend the money he has this summer you should have quality cover in the side. Jose isn't even happy with his starters but then he should have made more improvements. It's not like he's at a club that can't afford it, or that he didn't have time to prepare for the summer transfer window.
Saying this LVG played dire football but the defence was never much of an issue.

It's more tiring hearing Liverpool fans say things like "I don't know why the United fans aren't pissed off" or "surely the United fans are getting tired of this", Salty.

This is Jose. This is what he does and has always done. We knew it when he took the job, it's part of the deal.

I dunno about that Steve. This is the Jose of last years Chelsea but prior to that he wasn't like this. He blamed everyone outside the club for poor results and created a them vs us which worked in the main, but since last season he's took it upon himself to blame people inside it and that's not worked out very well.

Indeed. But it used to work. Chelsea last season and, to a lesser extent so far Manchester United this season, shows that is no longer the case. Players won't put up with a manager, no matter what he's won, continually accepting zero responsibility for things not going right whilst publicly palming it off on individual players he feels aren't towing the line. Surely that is a concern.

Yeah, that's the problem - you can put up with it if the points and wins are ticking along too but without them to back him up he just comes across as desperate and bitter and the fans, as well as the players, will begin to resent him for it. He needs to get a winning streak going to avoid this.

Gotta be honest, don't really remember him in the past hauling his own players over the coals like that, not really until later in his Real Madrid tenure.

I guess it depends on whether Shaw & Smalling are the kinds of characters who'll react well to that, I'm not sure if there are that many in the Man Utd squad who would be. Utd fans aren't used to managers doing that either, it must grate a little, even at this stage?

Unfortunately you have Arsenal next. You might avoid defeat by setting up like you did against us at Anfield, but I don't believe you can win by going toe to toe with them. Decent chance of two consecutive wins against West Ham and Everton, but then you have Spurs who I also can't see you beating unless things improve. After Spurs you have four very winnable games in December with Palace, West Brom, Sunderland and Boro, they could very much be key.

I had already written the Arsenal game off to be honest but I mistakenly thought it was an away game, checking now though I can see it is a home game so if Jose sets up as he did at Anfield I'll be disappointed. It might be pragmatic in terms of our current situations but I don't think it's an acceptable approach at home to anyone. Spurs are a strong team but I don't fear them so much at the moment. If Kane kicks on and quickly re-finds his form after coming back from injury that might be another story, though.

The four games you highlight at the end are massive - we really should be winning all four and twelve points on the bounce heading into the new year could put a whole new complexion on our season and also our place in the table.

You have a great record against Arsenal, but they do look to have a bit more grit about them this season which will make it tougher for you to win.

Can you imagine how much it would wound Mourinho to see Wenger record his first ever league win against him?

It would be the final nail in Jose's mental coffin, if you ask me. The narrative before that match should be some WWE level drama.

Hopefully he alienates Shaw. I'd gladly welcome a Bellerin - Shaw fullback duo for years to come.

Lol no chance will we get anything from OT. We couldn't even score against Moyes's United. In two games.

Jose dead right again, Smalling is now out for a month with a broken toe.

I bet Jose's got an injection for that.

And if you don't take it, Chris, you are a pussy.

Yes you are.
The club is 76% down this quarter compared to last season and Woodward himself said:
"...our financial results for this quarter reflect the impact of our non-participation in the Champions League, we are pleased that we remain on track to deliver record revenues for the coming year...."
Now correct me if I'm wrong (just a heads up, I'm not) but Mourinho wasn't in charge last season and so had no effect on their lack of Champions league football. So it's got fuck all to do with Jose. You Gump!
