On another note, should we expect this guy in a Utd shirt next season?

He likes Mourinho and Mourinho likes him. He's a winner, he's free (well technically free), he's an immediate solution to any strike issues which leaves Mourinho the ability to focus his attention elsewhere. And also the last ageing Swede Utd got up front was fucking awesome.

What's Mourinho going to do with the likes of Rashford?

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Guardiola, Klopp, Mourinho, Conte, Howe

All these big name box office managers, its going to be a fascinating season watching them clash.

Arsenal still with Wenger though, obviously.

Funny how United fans pissed their pants at Pellegrini's goodbye from City fans. The disgraceful handling of LVG's exit must be discomfiting. Maybe it wasn't the club so much as Jose's people, but that in itself has to be a worry. All about him, always. No respect for anyone else whatsoever.

it certainly sits uneasily with me how we've handled it. that said i don't think we've made any statements either way. It would have been better for the club to speka to LVG and give him the option of retiring a winner instead of being got rid of. Instead of yesterday evening being a celebrtation of winning something it turned all the focus onto the managerial situation. Still i guess i shouldn't expect any more from Woodward he's an utter disaster as a chief exec

But it's not really his fault is it? It's supposedly Mourinhos people who have let it out.
c*** move as although LVG deserved to go he could at least have been given 24 hours to enjoy winning something.

Not very excited by the prospect of Mourinho, I've never enjoyed watching his teams, but anything is better than Van Gaal. No more 70% possession without pace, penetration or bravery. Mourinho will park the bus in the big games, but at least his sides have always played the counter attack with pace, which will get far more out of players like Depay and Martial who will finally have space to run into instead of eight men behind the ball at all times. I hope he perseveres with Rashford in the side, but I can see him and Lingard being completely ousted by the likes of Zlatan. Also, please sign Willian.

I enjoyed Jose's swagger and press conferences when he joined Chelsea over a decade ago, but his victim mentality over the past few seasons was incredibly infuriating to listen to, I hope he has realised that it no longer deflects from or helps his players, he was an embarrassment this season.

Farewell LVG, please never return to English football.

I'm wondering if he'll push Depay out to the right. The lad is all right foot and although that means he can cut inside Martial is at his most productive playing from the left so they won't both go in there and the Frenchman has proven his worth far more than the ex PSV man. Mata must be thinking his days are numbered or at least close to it. Mourinho never fancied him because he doesn't do the defensive work that he wants from his players. Maybe though he'll ease off on that in favour of more attacking players this time round. Perhaps he'll give him a season or til January to see how he can use him.

They need 5 players to be realistically challenging I feel.

CB - ?
CM - ?
RW - ?
CAM - ?
FWD - Ibra?
Depay, Mata, Januzaj, Rojo and probably Carrick on the way out.
I hope Depay and Janujaz are given a chance.

Rooney, Morgan, Herrera, Schweinsteiger even Blind if we buy a new CB are decent options at CM but we need someone with a bit of magic to unlock the defences with them that sit 10 men behind the ball. That said just getting the team to move the ball quicker should help with that.

Either RW or CAM i want to see Lingard given time there.

Keeping De Gea is an absolute must. Rojo is ok but can understand him wanting to be a starter somewhere else and Shaw will be back next year. Darmian is an odd one started well but has been awful at time, spurs for example.

Carrick i'm not sure. Not too fussed about Mata he has skill and talent but he looks really lightweight

A New CB certainly, and a new CM
a Striker definitely Rashford and martial aren't enough depth.(maybe if we get Ibra we will play Rashford off to the right of Ibra, Lingard behind him and Martial off to the left.

Mata's actually done well defensively for us.

He's done a job on the wing, however he's so much better centrally as we all know. Sadly I think he'll get phased out. Memphis will need to show something or he'll be sold in January. Januzaj is in big trouble. I think Rashford will be fine.

I'm sure we'll end up buying Zlatan. He could have a similar impact that RvP had in his first season.

Mata would probably be a good option for the other Manc team. He could play Peps way.

He'll love De Gea - whether we keep him is another matter.

I think he'll like Valencia at right back, Smalling and Shaw are more than good enough to start. He'll look to replace Blind as a starting centre back as a priority - hopefully keeping him on as a utility player. I reckon we'll go for Stones as Mourinho went all out for him last season with Chelsea by all accounts.

Midfield is tough to call. He will respect Fellaini's physicality and Schweinsteiger's experience so they will have roles to play I would expect. He'll look to get a starting central midfielder in. I hope he has plans for Herrera.

Martial should stay on the left, a new signing on the right and I'm pretty sure Rooney will be our number ten.

God* up front.

The criticism of City was their fans walking out on Pellegrini. United fans had nothing to do with Mourinho signing being leaked.

All I've been seeing is Jose will be gone in a few seasons.

Funny this criticism seemingly isn't aimed at Pep. Who is the exact same.

Perhaps it's because Guardiola has never managed in this country so most people can't relate to him, his style and the issues he brings in the same way. So not that funny at all really.

On a side note, his first job has to be persuading De Gea to stay. I know he signed a new contract last summer but after this season you couldn't blame him for wanting out again. And his stock would have risen yet again as he's really been the only United player to shine this season. Surely Real will be knocking again.

The criticism won't be aimed at Pep for very different reasons. Pep signs 3 year contracts and then fucks off to another club in a different league at the end of his tenure. Jose doesn't choose to chop and change, he gets fired. It's only Porto and Inter where he could have stayed and chose not to.
Mind you it's only Chelsea and Real who fucked him off, but the former did it twice!

All fair points. When Pep was announced not many mentioned the possibility of him leaving after a few seasons. Now with Jose, it's a different story. It is funny when he's criticised for leaving clubs when that's what top managers do nowadays.

That said, as already stated - I feel Jose could be at United for the long haul. What's out there for him? Ligue One is a joke. He's managed in Italy and Spain. Maybe the Portugal job in the future.

I'll be very surprised if De Gea stays next season. We were incredibly lucky to have him this season. It's fair to say the trigger would have been pulled a lot quicker on Van Gaal without his performances.

I think it's generally accepted that Pep will move on after his contract with City expires. Depending on results they may want to hold onto him but he didn't want to stay with Bayern and I doubt he'll want to stay with City. In 3 years time though I suppose it'll depend on the state of the other leagues and if they're worth going to. He might return to Barca.

Like Nilsson I actually quite liked van Gaal as an individual, he's a ballsy dude but his conduct as a professional became infuriating. It became increasingly difficult to back the dude when he demonstrated over and over again his unwillingness to change/adapt, stubbornness in the implementation of his "philosophy", not to mention the blatant inconsistencies in his treatment of players.

Ha loving the reaction from rival fans though, you'd think they'd have nothing to worry about if they believed the stuff they're writing. Though, i'm sensing the total opposite

On to the team. Ibra doesn't rely on pace, and as long as he has plenty of it around him he's still got a couple seasons in him yet. Rashford will gain a lot playing alongside him too, it'd only benefit his development while ensuring he isn't burnt out. Need a Mata replacement, as others have mentioned he's an immensely talented footballer but far too lightweight and can go missing in games because of it. Lingard is a squad player at best so the RW needs looking at. We also need that dynamic box to box player that can help transition the team from defence to attack and start beside schneiderlin. Cb obvs, Blind is a good versatile utility player but I wouldn't have him in a starting XI challenging for the big trophies. RB is also a bit of a worry as I don't rate Darmian.

That's quite a job there tbf and one I'd wholly trust Jose to sort out. With a blank cheque of course, wouldn't have it any other way.

It's not fine if he wins, though. Psychopathic behaviour like the way he threw his medical staff under the bus would have been deeply objectionable even if Chelsea had been having a good season. Likewise eye gouging Tito Vilanova and all the other stuff. United might win a bit (highly doubt it'll be next season tbh), but at what cost? Your name will be dragged through the dirt. Interesting to note that a poll on Redcafe about whether you wanted Jose as next manager was overwhelmingly negative at the start of the season. After the season you've had, it's now overwhelmingly positive.

To me, that suggests that deep down your fans know you're dancing with the devil, here. Worse, you're inviting him to build a dynasty for you. I expect this to go horribly wrong for United as a club.

I'm not sure what Van Gaal has to do with anything, and that hasn't addressed the point I was making. You're delighted though, good for you!

It shows that we've got a guy in charge right now that's done worse than anything Mourinho has done. People think if van Gaal as a "character" though, mainly because he's a loser. Mourinho's cuntishness is amplified because he's one of the game's best.
