Can't see how we can't support them;

Right wing media attacking them for being greedy. My sister who works at the NHS as a nurse for 2 years said she gets paid more than some of the junior doctors.

Expect to see more stories over the next couple of strikes saying how many people died because of the greedy doctors. Although I realise my comment earlier was related to pay!!! She also says she can't believe the amount of hours they work, she even complains of working 13 hours a day but the junior doctors hours are crazy and this new contract will make it worse. I don't think even Margaret Thatcher had the balls to go after the NHS and its workers!! This government on such a low majority has some balls.

The cynic in me says that too many politicans stand to profit from the privatization of the NHS for it to remain in control of the government hands.

I can see their reasons to grumble at the fact it'll reduce what they earn but on other side of it there is many other jobs where you have to work weekends, sundays or crap tiems of day.....a lot of them won't have too good pay either, they at least would get some coverage for the change which others don't.

but I did find it disgusting the spin thrown over the period by the government, I don't understand this conservative concept of absolutely thriving when it comes to strikes.......as if its some big achievement to have masses striking on their policies and periods to sit there in some glory of a 'them vs us' state.

I'm 100% behind them. Anyone know any junior doctors striking when the next action is? Me and a friend are going to send pizza delivery to the strikers as a little gesture of support in this shite weather. It is clear that Jeremy Hunt is just trying to drag this out so that more and more people are affected by the strikes, in an attempt to sway public opinion. What a twat. If I was a conservative MP I would hang my head in shame at how the government is so blatantly acting in an unfair manner.

I'm fully behind the stand junior doctors have made but it's not the first assault on the nhs that it's been made out to be. Nurses have seen their pay and working conditions steadily eroded as have auxiliary staff. Cleaners, porters etc have had their jobs outsourced and de-unionised resulting in lower pay, poor conditions and zero hour contracts. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the fight back and maybe the public service unions can stop bickering and present a united front.

My mum retired early last year as a nurse as a result on the attack on the NHS and the stress it put her under (age 52), my sister is leaving as soon as possible to another country.

As I hinted to, this is them striking for the future of the NHS, anyone who can't see this is an idiot. I 100% back them and hope they win, hopefully they will bring a light to how much this government has fucked over the NHS.

The fact that David Cameron stood on stage and used his dead son to tell voters how he'll protect the NHS as much as possible and then fuck them over..... After using his own Dead son show how much of an evil fucking c*** he is.

Low life c***, Tories are the devil. If I'm being honest, I dont support any party these days, I think government needs a huge major reform but why would any party make a reform that isn't in there interest?

The NHS really should be ring fenced in terms of policies by a group of specialist people that are qualified in the field of medicine so it isn't used a political football. The same goes for Education.

I wish I had a political head on me because I'm rubbish at remembering points against what Jeremy Hunt is spinning. But I know my friend, a junior doctor, has been protesting strongly against this and without remembering all the fine details, it's essentially another small step towards achieving the Tories' eventual goal of abolishing the NHS. 'Imposed contract' is a oxymoron, just stinks of totalitarianism from the Tories who are acting like the spoilt child in the playground.

How this contract can offer a pay rise for junior doctors and be 'revenue neutral' whilst turning the NHS from a 5 day NHS to a 7 day NHS is utterly absurd. Who wouldn't strike if their pay and conditions were adversely effected as a result of a new contract? Not to forget the inherent risks to patients if junior doctors have to work extra hours.

imagine the storyline when 'doctor leaves patient half way through treatment as hours finish'

This is why the Tories have them over a barrel. The moment that happens the majority of public support for the Doctors will wane, playing right into the Tories hands.

i'd say that is moreso when the tory support collapses.

People will put up with 24 hour strikes, a longer term issue and suddenly it will become quite a different issue, it then also allows other parties to really attack the government.

its what i'd do if i was them, but as silky says its not why many go into it.....but that would end the issue.

This is my problem with Corbyn. I share most of his politics, but he continues to make mistakes like this. Labour should be hammering the Tories on this, and highlighting the number of teachers leaving the profession. Instead he wants to give speeches on the benefits of European immigration, when Labour lost the last election, in part, due to being seen too soft on it.

Apparently on an average day, 1,500 people die in hospital.

So that will be 1,500 sets of grieving relatives that people can go after to harangue them into blaming the strike.

The first half of this sums it up. The second half is speculative and partisan, but not entirely unbelievable.

I dislocated my jaw last night and received excellent care from several junior doctors. I also got to experience how desperate things are within my local hospital. Resources are stretched enough as it is without this new contract. I dread to think what standard of care will be provided if this goes through.
