He was last at Rotherham so not so sure that's the case.
It seems he was offered a big budget which then never materialised hence his very short stay.

Bobbin, what is your opinion of Chris Powell as a a manager. You should have a better idea than most on here.

Put it this way, in his first full season in charge we won the title with 101 points and then finished 9th in the Championship the following year with practically the same side.

He didn't play the most attractive football and some of his tactics and substitutions left question marks, but he was relatively new to the job.

Very good man manager though, a Powell team will never lack effort or commitment. Testament to him that a lot of our players from the league winning team are still close mates now despite the majority moving on. He's also very good at attracting players by selling the club to them, we signed players that were being targeted by Championship clubs because of him.

He's worked under Sven and McLaren now, I think he could do a good job at any side in this division especially at a club like Gillingham where he has the players already.

Cheers for that.
I would be happy with Powell, if he wanted to come.

At least it wont be a rush decision, with us having this weekend off.

Yeah, you could do worse than Chris Powell. I just think you may have a job on your hands prising him away from Derby at the moment.

Seems to be doing a good job as coach and is popular there.

Not surprising given the form we've been in for the last 12 months. It's not a cheaply assembled squad either, just lacking in certain areas (mostly defensively). I'd like Jackett as well, just please God, not Hess or Wise for that matter.

No real surprise this has happened considering the last year Gillingham have had, shame for him because he did quite well for a bit. Kenny Jackett would be an excellent appointment for Gillingham, he should definitely be the man they go after, definitely got some talent in the squad and I reckon he could get you fighting for a top 6 finish next season if not this.

Literally ANYBODY would be better than Saunders, with the dishonourable exception of Fatty

Saunders won't work as a manager again. Which is a shame as I'd like to see laugh from a distance as he embarrasses himself. Again.

According to Kent online pennock set to be appointed with Hendon as number 2 and hessenthaler as director of football.

Please don't let this be true

He is short priced favourite, possibly with Hendon as his assistant/coach.

I think that Ian Hendon would make a decent assistant manager, much in the same way that Hesssenthaler does but a Pennock/Hendon managerial team will be a disaster for you. Just ask FGR fans about Pennock.

Bizarre appointment and seeing as it's only 24 hours after Edinburgh was sacked it seems this is the one Scally wanted which is even more strange.

I remember him turning things around for Welling about ten years ago but this is a whole different challenge, will be very interesting to see how this works out.

That same Kent Online article says Jamie Day was also in the frame, seems like they wanted to go the cheap route.

If this motley selection of chronic underachievers becomes our management team then you may as well relegate us now. Just dismal, I'd rather have stuck with JED and he was hopeless.

uh oh.

As if you was actually considering Jamie Day that would have to be the most uninspiring appointment ever.

If Jackett is unavailable til the summer, then another 'gang of four' until then may not be the worst idea in the world.

We aren't bad enough to go down.
