Thanks. I've met David Bottomley a couple of times, so wondered if he was CEO or Chairman. I thought he was also one of the principle shareholders though?
He has a small shareholding... about 2% of the issued shares I think. Similar to what other Directors hold. If you have met him, you may be forgiven for thinking he owns the bulk of the club, as this is exactly how he comes over. Only when you have to deal with him on a regular basis can you begin to see through his bullshit.
He is taking the whole club in the wrong direction in the opinion of many supporters.

That's exactly how I found him, and the image he portrayed.

I believe he was one of the architects of the wage cap, something which I feel was incredibly badly managed, not thought through, an inappropriate tool for the task at hand, and would have set Leagues One and Two back decades if it hadn't been overturned, making the step up to the Championship an impossibility for any club that achieved promotion, and led to a Premier League Two. Or did he overplay his part in that too?

I know that Rochdale were strongly in favour of the wage cap...and in fairness, it would benefit the smaller clubs whilst creating a bigger step up for promoted teams rising to the Championship.

It's thought that Bottomley was touting himself for a job at the EFL last summer, when he was on TV more than Bradley Walsh.

Lord knows what he has been up to whilst we have been as near as damn it without a Chairmen for these past two years. We've already found out that he has extended the contract of BBM by a year without the other Directors knowledge. He's buggered up our Lottery, and whilst we haven't had a left back all season, he has recruited several off field members of staff to take his heavy workload off him. It would not surprise me in the least bit if more revelations are forthcoming about him...a very dangerous person who thinks he's Alan Sugar when in reality he's David Brent. Oh... and he spent £37k on hand sanitisers in the ground.

£37,000 on hand sanitisers!!! I know that in Swindon they have extra digits on each hand, but what's his excuse???

Dunno, but it sounds a fortune ; especially as they haven't been used yet.

In another twist, the club has this afternoon asked for a section of supporters to help with ticketing prices and other issues.

My mate on the Trust Board,( who work damn hard for the club and the fans) is absolutely furious that Bottomley has sidelined them. Wonder if they have had a row over what went on at the Forum?

Well, at long last we’ve got the first inklings of a takeover. Clem Morfuni, who already owns 15% of the club, has made a bid to buy the other 85% off of Power - or whoever actually owns it. He’s offering upwards of £7.5m, which seems mighty high to me. He’s saying all the right things - as they all do, tbh - but anyone but Power has got to be a step forward. That and a promise to ‘reevaluate the management structure’.

Taxi for Sheridactyl! Probably too late to impact this season but should put us on a much sounder footing for L2 next season.

Viva le Clem!

Let's hope it happens soon Dan but I feel it's too late to save us from the drop. Any budding player managers out there ala Hoddle or is that too much to hope for.

My extra digits come in very handy, but how do you lot cope with a lack of testicles?

Something to be said for sticking with a manager to get some stability, time to put in a process but it does seem to have gone far beyond that!

Well, well beyond that. He'd lost the dressing room, the fans and his style of play was dire. He will not be missed by anyone here.

So the early Pompey manager market looks something like this:

3/1 Neil Harris
4/1 Danny Cowley, Sean O'Driscoll
8/1 Lee Bowyer
12/1 Chris Coleman
14/1 Michael Duff
16/1 Ryan Lowe
20/1 Eddie Howe and Garry Monk
28/1 Chris Wilder

Difficult to see how Eddie Howe, Chris Wilder and Garry Monk would want to be in League One, or are affordable, so they can probably be discounted. I'd say we're also unlikely to pay compensation to another club. That leaves Harris, Cowley, Coleman and O'Driscoll.

  • Michael Appleton - 12/1
  • Phil Parkinson - 14/1
  • Ryan Lowe - 16/1
  • Chris Wilder - 18/1

We're talking to Daniel Stendel, apparently. Now jumped to 1/2. Contract to the end of the season and then take it from there.

Would be a good appointment I feel. The fans are desperate for a change of style so would be interesting. Can he change a hoof-ball squad into a team that passes their way forward? Big ask, but it can't be any worse that what we've endured recently. Fingers crossed.

We spent around £45k on getting set up for Covid (as per guidance from FA/EFL/Government - whoever it was) only for no-one to be allowed in. Most at this level will have spent a similar amount I suspect.

I'm assuming Pompey let Jackett have the Pizza Cup final before getting rid? They seem to have been waiting for ages.

Wilder is off to Celtic so that’s one off the list, I hear Paul Dickov still wants a fair crack at being a manager

I think the performance there was the final straw. We were diabolical in the first half.

I still feel the board have acted too late. I would have got rid last season after the Coventry debacle - but we need this malaise to be turned around quickly now. I'd like Stendel here out of the realistic options available.

I think it was a combination of that and exiting the play-off places on the same day. I reckon they hoped he'd at least steady the ship and maintain our playoff position, but that had started to look wildly optimistic.

I see Tisdale was at your game on Saturday.
Twitter bollocks, I expect. After Saturday’s game Sheridan said he was considering resigning and he couldn’t do any more with the squad. Got all our hopes - only to be dashed as he turned up to take training again.

He’s honestly just taking the piss, winding up the fans. He’s a disgrace. He’ll never get another football job that’s for sure after all that’s gone on. Both him and Power are grinding the club into ground as much as they can. Both need topping.

Things must be bad if your next step is Birmingham!

Portsmouth seem to be moving for Cowley, in the short term at least?
