Sad news at Cheltenham this morning as Matty Blair's retirement due to a knee injury was confirmed.

Absolutely gutted for the bloke who has been fantastic in his couple of seasons with us.
good luck to what ever he does in the future........Decent player

Bit embarrassing that. Blokes signed 15 players in the meantime and then buggered off when he’s seen the results.

Seems to have had good stock up until this summer. I don't know the finer details, but would it be harsh to blame him on the results given your manager left as well as a number of key players weeks before the start of the season?

I'm not sure he will be so hands on in recruitment as at FGR and the Cowley's are insistent that it is their call. But they've been pro-active in a DoF being appointed to relieve them of some of the burdens. His role will be to rebuild the non-first team affairs virtually from ground zero after a massive overhaul last summer including the bombing of our under 15's who were so poor that it was pointless in continuing with them. He has a big job on his hands.

Finally got the result of our FA charge for the Swindon pitch invasion now and have to pay a fine of £15k. Have to be honest that’s about as good a result as it could have been as I was expecting them to throw the book at us for it.

Clubs accounts for 21/22 released. Things are certainly looking the best I can remember behind the scenes. We recorded our highest ever turnover last season and including some large outlays to infrastructure, only recorded a 200k loss for the season. Seems we have around 10m in the bank as well following the 4m investment from the US consortium. Crazy figures in this modern day.

I thought we'd get worse punishment, a possible suspended restriction or something but on the flip side it depends what the video footage shows which we haven't been party too. Most of the police investigation seemed centred on fans gesturing on the mug shots from CCTV.

Have to see if Swindon receive any punishment for their fans involvement in it all. Their fans are on social media moaning again over it, Garner wanted all our fans banned from Wembley for the invasion which seemed odd when their fans did the same at Walsall a week before!

Thankfully its rare to see trouble since Carol and Kevin have come in and its become very family orientated, time to move on from it, pay the fine and learn the lessons, a slight blot on what was most Vale fans greatest night.

It was his job to have a succession plan for those who were bound to leave. To be fair, O'Keefe at RWB is a good replacement for Wilson (EFL2 players of the season in 2021-22). The others not so much, but we will never know whether that is because the DoF did a bad job or his top targets would not join for whatever reason.

Out of interest what punishment do you think we should get? From my vantage point in the away end there were a few bottles thrown (back and forth) but what did our fans do to warrant a punishment for the club? I assume the Vale punishment was for some of your fans behaviour on the pitch 'attacking' our players. (I use the exclamation marks as it was more jostling than any GBH mainly)

To me Swindon the club shouldn’t at all as it was in our stadium it’s up to us to manage the crowd. Those who threw bottles it’s a police matter if they choose to investigate. Unfortunately at the end of one of the most intense games of the season too many (more on our side to note) let emotions get the better of them and think it’s better now to draw a line under it all.

There were seats thrown from our (so to be) away end at our fans, our stewards cant do a great deal there, not to mention some of the social media from a couple of players (notably one prior to the first game).

Hopefully now the lines drawn regardless, we've accepted the punishment and will move in, it was a shame that such a battle on the pitch was marred in the way it was in the end.

Despite some of the bile from Swindon fans on social media (none of her I may add) and the bitterness that seems to have emulated from it all I wish them well, they were the best side we played in the regular season at home and both are at least on the right track after decline.

Couldn't agree more mate.

Same from me, no malice at all from me. I know some fans tend to let these things fester but I can't be arsed!

We had 22 scorers last season in all competitions, its barely October and 15 different players have scored for us

Got to be some concerns in Morecambe given Worcester Warriors going pop this morning. I know their owners are trying to sell but it doesn't seem like they've tried to hard to keep Worcester going.

Lincoln lose to Clee Town in the Lincs Senior Cup, leaving the door open for the Mariners to potentially inch ahead in the all time stats.

Same owners ?

Seem to have blamed everyone else for the troubles at Worcester .

Players not winning enough
Not enough fans turning up

Shame! Didn't know we were playing. Assuming must have been a young team. What was the score?

Forest Green have approached us for permission to speak to our DOF, Mickey Moore, and we've given them permission.

Apparently he's happy at Cheltenham, but expressed a wish to see what they've got to say. Perhaps slightly contradictory that statement, but I suspect it's a case of money talking rather than anything else.

Suppose he's not going to badmouth you until he's out the door. You seem to do well in transfer market and he'll have the right experience of attracting players to a small club out West, assuming that's been him.

Seems to sum up all the behind the scenes stuff that went on in the summer to be honest.

His loanees are outstanding, he's very hit and miss with the permanents.

'Hit and miss' would be something like a 50% improvement on our recent perm recruitment.

I read report in Gloucestershire Live where Cheltenham confirmed that FGR had made an official approach to interview Micky Moore.
Today I read in Stroud Times that Forest Green chief operating officer James Mooney responded by saying:
“We don’t comment on rumour or speculation.”

I then read the Cheltenham forum where posts are mixed. Most thought that Moore would eventually move on but are peeved that he could move to their local rivals.

Bloody 'ell Argyle.
My grandson has just started studying at Plymouth University and his nan wants to visit him before Xmas. I was happy to drive her to city and later watch a game at Home Ground.
BUT Argyle have no 3pm kick-offs until 17 December, at which time grandson will be packing his bags to spend Xmas at home.
Lets hope Argyle get some FA Cup home draws in November. Ever optimistic.

You don’t fancy the Monday nighter against Exeter :)I think seven or eight on the bounce of our FA cup games have been away. maybe your family needs will be a good omen for us and finally we’ll get a home draw.

I know our fixture there got moved to the Friday due to a potential clash with an England World Cup game or something like that. Without knowing what their fixture list looks like it might be the same on other ones.

Its the travel home that's the problem. Wife probably not be interested in watching match and would go loopy getting back home after midnight. So its a no-go.
But I've love to watch Argyle v Exeter and experience the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.

What’s his relationship with Wade Elliott like? Heard some rumours they don’t see eye to eye, would obviously make any move more likely if that were the case.
