That article was from 5 years ago.
Apologies.

My point stands though, Reading don’t deserve him. He’s currently joint 3rd favourite for the job @ 6/1 odds. Chris Wilder is favourite which has shocked me as surely he’s better than League 1, no?

Reading don’t deserve Steve.

Any chance Wade Elliott might head Shropshire way with Micky Moore, Si Robin?
I'd be surprised if he does - Wade was Duff's appointment as a coach and not Moore's. He got the manager's job in the summer because he was the logical passing of the torch. Duff initially wanted to take him to Barnsley, but Wade didn't want to move from his base in Bristol.

I wouldn't ever rule it out, but I suspect he'd be hoping to get a DOF that is more aligned with him. Hence my hope for Cotts who is one of Wade's mentors.

Record numbers of clubs achieved family excellence status.

Only 6 clubs, Oxford, Fleetwood, Accrington, Salford, Gillingham & Hartlepool failed to achieve it, which seems pretty poor from those clubs given how 66 others managed it.

No surprise we have received gold status. We offer a great experience especially through the 'fan village' at home games. Well deserved for all involved.

Yeah, I'm not surprised either after all we do around the fan village and what's available not just for families but everyone else as well.

What does surprise me is that more Championship clubs (7) have Gold status than L1 (4) and L2 (1) because you associate lower league clubs with that side of things more.

I dunno, it strikes me that what Lincoln and Exeter offer is pretty exceptional at this level (haven't been to Argyle so can't comment on that) - really a cut or two above in terms of "fan experience" than what is found at other clubs at this level. I think their gold awards are really well deserved, and it's great to see what they do acknowledged properly.

The fact Salford don't have any sort of award surprises me, surely with their backing and the profile of the people involved getting local kids in Salford interested would be high on their list of priorities?

Our Chief operations officer James Mooney has left the club to take up a position at Luton. Good bloke so wish him all the best. Follows swiftly on from the arrival of our new CEO Marcus Reynolds coming over from New Zealand, new DoF from Brentford Allan Steele and a boardroom reshuffle with Green Britain Group Ltd (the umbrella company) CEO Asif Rehmanwala becoming executive vice chairman.

Been a constant revolving door at the club over the last 12 months, so many off and on field personnel have left, CEO, COO, vice chairman, two DoF’s, two managers plus their coaching staff, our media team, head chef, matchday experience officer etc. Hopefully we’ll have a bit more stability next season.

Serial over spenders Wigan have had 4 points deducted for next season already for failing to pay wages on time for the five time in the last 10 months. They have now to adapt to living within their means.

Becomes 8 points if they miss another deadline and dont deposit 125% of their wage budget for the month by this Wednesday...

I could see Wigan levelling out as a bottom half L1/ top half L2 club in the next few years.

Cheated their way to the Championship. I feel sorry for the fans but they're a pretty small club, historically probably smaller than Vale and have cheated by spending more than they can afford. They're not the first and they won't be the last. There are many other clubs doing it too throughout the leagues, servicing unsustainable debts. Eventually it will catch up with them and leave a level playing field for the rest of us.

Got to be concerning for Fleetwood fans. Fingers crossed your club isn’t affected by it.

If you watch their most recent episodes of their documentry series, they actually show the assessments being carried out in one of the episodes and they fall very, very short. They basically offer very little in terms of family entertainment - they was informed this and it led to Neville and the Chairman Karen Baird basically hiring someone to overlook and change the whole thing.

The lady that came in to overlook it was shocked that they don't even have any half time entertainment!

I know a few people who have worked for Pilley. Flash, dodgy tosser.

I'm surprised it's taken this long.

It does make you wonder about those six figure fees paid out in January for Stockley and Marriott when this was hanging over him. As I say I don’t want to see any club in financial trouble even Stoke (well saying that maybe a bit) but you have to think the future is uncertain at least.

I'm not sure how much of Fleetwood Pilley owns but they'll go after his money for proceeds of crime. Depends how reliant they are on his money/loans.
They will go after the money and rightly so. Could be a massive fine in millions which he would have to pay. The only reason Fleetwood are where they are is because of Pilley's money. That's the bottom line and no escaping from it. We have a CEO Steve Curwood who has worked with Pilley for many years and I would expect him to take over the running of the club. A knight in shining armour to the rescue ? Not more than a mile away...Fishermen's Friend. Used to be in the same class at school as the Chairman ( long deceased )....

I really think he thought he was going to be found not guilty. Big money on Stockley and Marriott and a huge 7 figure sum on an indoor dome which has just gone up. Lot of worried people tonight who don't deserve this

Decent club up at Fleetwood. Above their natural order due to investment but there's a lot of clubs like that in the league. Would be a shame if the club was punished for a dodgy owner.

Has the Fishermen's Friend lot got money? I know that it was a global brand but I don't think it's as popular these days.

I’m no fan of point deductions, honestly, especially in this case - the players are the ones not getting paid and the EFL by point deductions are making their job harder.

It’s difficult to really land on a proper punishment for this kind of thing. Personally, I would like to see a situation where non-payment of wages opens the doors for players to find new employers. Obviously in the current system that’s not possible, but I’d like to see fans/players not get impacted for an owners negligence - whilst understanding it’s a delicate balance.

Point deductions are the norm in the EFL and it shouldn’t be the case. Leagues should be decided by players on the pitch.
