The amount of bed wetting on your forum regarding this takeover is unreal Moonie.
`it's certainly ignited a few passions. As you'll have seen, I had to step in and do a rare spot of moderating last night.

Can only see it as a good thing myself, the club has stagnated for decades with the odd ray of hope not tending to last. New owners with ambition taking over on the back of last year's promotion would have some serious momentum. The Piataks are clearly genuine, and would appear to have been bitten by the bug (who wouldn't be after last season?)

Mark Bonner has signed a new long term contract with the club. It's not stated how long it is, but very good news indeed and our best signing of the summer.

Let's see if the funds are split more evenly than they currently are, otherwise in reality all it does it widen the gap between the leagues.

Good to hear. Highly likely that there are conditions in there like a buyout clause etc. Still surprising to me that Bonner hasn't been targeted by a club higher up the pyramid given the job he's done with Cambridge's resources.

Rotherham tried to get him this time last year. He held talks but decided to stay with us. We had a really strong start to the season but after those talks our form nose dived.

But yes I would assume it will include a release clause as long as we get a hefty compensation package.

I’m not sure if he could replicate what he has at Cambridge elsewhere and I think that’s what he’d be nervous about. Bonner’s origins come from coaching (he’s an incredibly experienced and highly qualified coach, probably as high as any manager in the league despite his age) and he has grasped the tactical side of management as he has gone on. I can see him taking a coaching role in one of the youth teams of the England setup one day. But I’m not so sure about manager elsewhere, or if he does then I’m not sure how successful he’ll actually be.

I don't mind it as a general icon when you see the reasoning behind each element in the article, but it isn't a football badge.

Is that an evolution of the standard "Nah, he's rubbish" type post? :bg:

The club want to change our badge, this is the proposed new one.

Going to be a survey to find out what the fans think, but whilst a large number of supporters are open to a potential change no one at all seems to like the one they've put forward.
Bristol Rovers tried to do the same. We put up a fuss and stopped it dead. Take a look at the clip art shit they suggested...

Yeah that doesn't compare to your current one either, not as bad as what the designer has come up for us though. Think your current badge is perfectly fine easily identifiable, can't confuse with anyone and it relates to the area.

I don't really understand this attitude that everything must be modernised, and look sleek. If something isn't broken then you don't need to fix it, especially if that fix is making it look like some clipart badge from Pro Evolution soccer. Our badge might not be the prettiest or most iconic but it's recognisable to most actual football fans because we've had it so long.

There are so many good things going on at our club at the moment that it’s difficult to be critical, but that new badge design is just terrible. Given the fan reaction I doubt it will go much further than the waste bin.

It does look a very PES, MLS type badge.

This is it, they feel they have to meddle with things that don't need changing just because it is old.
I'm surprised the PC brigade haven't been on at us to remove the pirate completely due them being violent criminals (insert Joey Barton joke here....)
We had the clipart thing previously in the Gerry Francis days, its better now although the old one wasnt bad..

Rovers fans - I presume the fact that we haven't had the tickets for our game in a few weeks means that its likely to be postponed because of internationals? Or are you still unsure of the capacity?

When I went into the club shop earlier to collect my Luton ticket, I asked about it, and he said Rovers were printing the tickets today and sending them down. Probably be on sell on Wednesday to Gold members, with restricted to 1 per person. He is 95% sure we'll only get 500 terrace tickets, but we are currently trying everything we can to get a few more, somehow.

They quickly assembled a smaller temporary stand/tent before the last home game for away fans to sit as well,

...unsure if they are doing that again as building work has progressed a bit since..

Oxfordshire County Council have approved the leasehold sale of the Triangle site (by the A34 and Oxford Parkway, next to Kidlington) to Oxford United for a new stadium subject to planning permission and covenants:

Planning will be through Cherwell District Council.

One of the objections was spectacular in its nuttiness:

Seems a fair objection to me!

Bit of a tight timescale, though.

Yes, so we have been given 500 terrace tickets only so I guess the stand isn't going to be ready in 3 weeks.
Bit of a scramble for tickets, but I still think there will be a chance it will be called off due to international call ups.

Yes it is tight. According to the club, they are intending to put in for planning permission by the end of the year. Far more detailed info is going to be released on 9th October (if I have the date right).

Had 2 consultations with Oxon CC and there is already considerable requirements for the environment etc in the agreement. The club have long known about those requirements so have been planning for them for a couple of years.
