No doubt if this sale goes through, they will learn from the mistakes of the past and spend wisely going forward with only the sustainability of the club at the forefront of the mind.

They will definitely not spend shitloads of money they don't have next season trying to get out of this division!

These are not actually in Administration, just a feeling when Due diligence is undertaken they will find plenty of skeletons in the closet. There seems to be plenty of people interested in buying the club.
Some will be the same tire kickers we see every time a club becomes available.I dont see this as a quick fix at all for Reading and i certainly think they will go down to at least lge 2 before they get sorted.
Who knows who the next owners will be. And yes they could spend big for lge 1/2 standards to get themselves into the Championship or Equally the club may yet go into Administration which would mean they would start next season on minus points and may well go out of the league.

Saw an article from David Sullivan, West Ham owner, basically saying the stalling on the EFL deal is due to PL clubs not wanting to subsidise badly run Championship sides.
Seems we are caught in the free fall.

Bolton lost 5.6 million last season though revenue was up to 19.4 million which was still more than Wigan in the Championship that season who had all the added TV money, As a comparison Derby County's revenue last season was 20.4 million., so not too far behind the club with the biggest gates in League One.

I would expect our revenue was largely hit due to having no sponsorship all season as well as coming out of admin and therefore having to sort out corporate deal etc all after the season had pretty much started. I’d expect us to have more revenue when this seasons figures are revealed next year

Yes, there are badly run clubs at every level. However, the premier league's own huge parachute payments are a massive reason why competing clubs get into debt.

Evatt's transfer dealings have mostly been horrendous since Jan 2023. To sell Dapo Afalayan who is ripping it up at top of the table St Pauli (apparently didn't fit the system) and then bring in Victor Adeboyejo was criminal. He falls out with too many people., Carlos Mendez Gomez looked ok ( apparently he must have fitted the system) but is always injured, Ndululu looked terrible and is also injured. We had to play Cameron Jerome yesterday and in his 38th appearance has still not scored a league goal. Good news in apparently our first choice GK may be back next week. Evatt doesn't have a good track record with signing goalkeepers but Nathan Baxter was a quality signing. Dion Charles may also be back. But we need to also stop pissing around at the back playing tippy tap, it's not effective and dull and I have lost count at the number of chances/goals we have conceded because we do it badly. Stevenage could have had 2 yesterday, they missed an absolute sitter. So it looks like the play offs and possibly in form Lincoln City.

Yes mate he has control, we haven't got a director of football. Couldn't understand why we signed Nlundulu. Had had him on loan for half a season so couldn't see whatever Evatt saw him in.

Record loss of £3m for Shrewsbury for last year. Wages increased by £800k to just over £5m with a smaller squad, admin expenses increased by £500k and chairman putting in money for the first time in years to cover lack of Premier league money.

Lots of rumours as to what may have happened as we're usually a tightly run ship but the cash reserves have dwindled. CEO was sacked on the spot last year and Cotterill went not long after, with a new management structure put in place and a complete change on player recruitment strategy. They said these changes would become clearer on the release of the accounts. The figures raise a lot of questions, but club won't comment until after the AGM.

Scary thing is just how unstable football finances are at the moment, as our record loss is only mid table in the league 1 losses for last year

Its been 10 years since this sorry, scandelous saga started (hard for me to say with a lisp), but finally there is light at the end of the tunnel with the owners now being given the land around the stand and beyond.

Essentially there is a sizeable area of land around Sixfields that they will develop, profit off privately that will pay for the stand to be finished and monies owed to these owners to be paid back.

Is it a great deal overall for the actual football club? Not massively. Am I delighted that we will no longer have to look at that eyesore each week? Absolutely. But it should not have been messed up so badly by the council and our previous owners and cohorts.

We still need to expand the ground without question, especially with some of the away followings in this league, but this is still hugely positive news overall.

Unbelievably the main issue, what happened to all the money and the legal ramifications from it all being misappropriated is still 'ongoing' as far as I am aware.

Sadly it does not seem that the issue is ever going to be sorted regarding the missing millions. The only people who seem to have paid any price for it so far is our former owner and his wife who were forced to sell a property for 2 million to pay back some of the money. The cost of trying to recoup the money is in the millions also.

Essentially it seems to be so complex and so many strands to it I fear justice will never be served. Made even worse now by the council being merged with others to make the matter now more complex. The fact of the matter is that the club, the fans, the tax payers etc were all screwed over by greedy people and by lack of any sort of diligence from the local council.

What should have moved us forward us a club set us back for decades from the missing opportunity. Wish we were never given the cash.

Unbelievably the same could have happened with the rugby club here as apparently no checks were taking place from money they were loaned either. It just so happens that they used theirs as it should have been.

As a fan I find it unbelievable it’s still not resolved, and as a taxpayer it’s absolutely infuriating.

After 10 years of owning the club Cardoza decided just to up and take £10m worth of council money. What on earth possessed him to do it will never be known. Similar to you Jord I wish we’d never had the cash, blown any chance of the local authority backing us ever again.
