Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
The whole financial system top to bottom is a mess anyway as it does little for anyone across the board financially.

Prem clubs can or afford to lose a little bit more because with the billions they receive they amazingly to to bottom still all make massive losses season on season as none run themselves well.

And all an increase in tv income will do down here is make sides have even more ridiculously large wage bills they cannot pay off as they will rack up exactly the same level of debts if not more than previously.

It’s such a waste of time solution, each time the tv income increases there is some wild hope that clubs suddenly will become solvent because the extra few millions will cover the mass debts and turn the overall picture into a profit and every single time what happens 2-3 years later is the same clubs run at even bigger losses because they run even more poorly than they did previously.

Football is 100% run like my wife who if told we somehow got an extra £150 in our wages this month due to not paying council tax or trace costs will instantly go out and somehow spend £200 because we got that £150 extra leaving us worse than before

Including some clubs that were very EFL clubs not so long ago .

And could well be again soon

I suppose the Government might well change soon so will this even go ahead. ?

and one who was in real financial trouble in the 90s (Bournemouth). Shameful. Shame we cant all get together and refuse to take any of their players on loan

In another era Bournemouth would have gone up to the Premier League maybe stayed up a few seasons, gone down and stayed down. Nowadays they go up, get a ridiculous amount of money and then if they are relegated get a ridiculous amount in parachute payments from the Prem to outperform other championship clubs the following season. Sadly not a surprise they've voted against it.

The gap now between the Prem and EFL is ridiculous. Great if you're in it, not so much if stuck outside.

The Parachute payment's irritate me big time, huge money for failure and aids the teams to bounce back really, plus you occasionally get teams come down to League One still receiving them which is often more than probably 8-10 clubs at this level combined budget.

Surely a relegation release or wage clause should be inserted rather than gift teams £30 million a year for 3 seasons is it? to come off Premier League money.

Apparently part of the proposal was to get rid of them.

Probably why teams voted against it

The whole system is broken, clubs just need endless amounts of money because players and their agents demand ever increasing wages.

Fast forward 20 years and it will the same 3 or 4 clubs winning everything, the same clubs yoyoing between divisions, the only thing that might change it is the Saudi league, and then the whole thing will come crashing down

I've said it a number of times. Give every team across the professional leagues the same budget. It's the only way to turn it back into a sport again.

Getting rid of the top 6-10 greediest teams would be a start. Yes, you wouldn't have the glamour of a game against Arsenal, Man United etc. But at least the playing field might get a little bit more level.

This game of who's got the biggest bank balance is getting tiresome.

Just imagine Sky creaming themselves over a title winning clash between Accrington and Crawley....

I'd honestly prefer it. The thing with big teams is that they've had 80-100 years of relative success, so they have been able to build up a huge fanbase. How do we know, given the opportunity, that a team like Crawley couldn't build up a big fan base over the next 100 years due to success? They have quite a big potential area to draw support from.

Basically, it's like these are the big clubs and that's it and now the shop is closed. We'll never see others join that top 6 to 8 clubs now.

Not sure on what the sale price is, but Reading are selling their state of the art training facilities to Wycombe. Must be a huge boost for Wycombe as apparently its some of the best facilities outside of the premier league.

All sorts of speculation on what’s actually happening and few facts at the moment, but it’s not a good look for us, regardless of whether it was openly offered to us or not - it’d be much better to include the training ground as part of an overall sale of the club.

Just read over on the other site that the Wycombe owner is buying it to allow the value of Reading to drop and put through a sale. He will then look to sell it back to Reading at the same price - or with a small mark up.

Our official statement is disappointingly vague:

How much money do you think your club roughly made through your top transfer sales over the last 10 years?

I'm curious as you did sell a few top young players in that time and received a couple of sell on clauses too with Ollie Watkins being a notable one.

Probably over 10 million
Watkins and Ampadu were the two big ones.
Then there's the likes of Archie Collins, Matt Grimes, Josh Key, Joel Randall, Jordan Storey. No doubt a few others I've forgotten.

The academy train has been drying up lately but hopefully Sonny Cox will come good.

What did all that money go towards?

Training ground, ground improvements (I think we have one of the best pitches in the division) and some players wages.
But it costs a lot to run a football club and we have to 100% fund it with income, rather than having a benefactor.

And that's over a decade, so per year it's not going to cover a lot. It wouldn't even pay for a seasons wages at some league one clubs.

Probably Sunday lunchtime? Usually seems to be, although not sure if Championship runs a week longer this season?

It was Saturday lunchtime two seasons ago, then Sunday lunchtime last season.
Exactly, not fussed when it is but would be nice to know to plan. Especially as we've already started selling tickets.
I'm sure in previous seasons it was announced earlier

Not sure how true this is, but apparently at the next EFL AGM whenever that is, they will be discussing and possibly voting on cancelling all League One and Two fixtures during the international breaks - the last few seasons particularly in League One have seen a large number of postponements due to call ups.

It would probably make sense tbh, everyone then knows where they stand. Only 3 fixtures in League One next week FFS.

Can’t see why there would be any reason to cancel league 2 games as very few are off and it’s actually a great chance for league 1/2 sides to be put on sky, Mansfield vs colchester and Stockport vs MK dons are both on tv saturday for instance, this would be further damaging potential revenue streams?

Not a clue how it works in league 1 mind.

It still wont solve the problem of fixture pile-ups though, unless they extended the season or started it earlier. You have to factor in that the weather will also add to games being cancelled

4 Saturdays a season isn't it to move to a midweek, I suppose you could do it but allow the option for clubs to move Tuesday games to the International weekends if they are free to play or wish to play.

That sounds very sensible, so probably won't happen.
It has definitely changed in league one since the early 2010s, so many more club with international players, including us.
Obviously would have to fit other fixtures in, but we have done that anyway.

Who has a fixture pile up? Nobody in our league. Just invest in a decent pitch
