Around there.

They started last season similar to how you have this season with a fairly kind fixture list to start the season and picking up early points.

Fair, still gotta beat what’s infront of you mind. Goes to show you can survive here on low crowds though, burton another great example.

Kinda. Hasn't done Morecambe, Accrington, FGR or Cheltenham any good.

Stevenage's Chairman bought over £1m of shares recently.

I'm still not sure exactly how Burton afford the squads they do because numerically they always seem to have 35-40 on the books and I'm pretty sure their crowds don't fund it.

McKiernan (NI U21's), Roughan (ROI U21's), Duffy (ROI U21's), Hackett (St Lucia, although currently injured and due back in the next 2/3 weeks) and Cadamarteri (England U20's).

Suspect it's the first three who will be getting the call-ups.

without checking your squad stats, would those players missing actually affect your capability to field a team?

Roughan has been a near ever-present for two or three seasons now at CB. McKiernan rotates but appears in most games and Cadarmarteri would play as well. Hackett would be a starter if he was fit, Duffy is more a back-up although he started the season (very poorly).

This is what confuses me with Burton? I don’t get how it’s all financed.

What’s Lincoln situation, don’t you lot have a lot of external help? Americans or summat.

Stockport County.
Burton were taking over by a Scandinavian consortium this summer.

I don't know they financed it all before then, they had Ben something as their owner as they went up the leagues. He must have put a fair chunk in.

Perhaps not a lot by L1 standards. From the outside it looks like we keep new and/or existing investment coming in to the Holding Company (£1m-£2m a season since we've been in L1) and then dip into it as and when it's needed depending on player sales and cup runs so it varies year to year.

We've got some fairly wealthy people involved in the Club - Chairman Clive Nates set-up the first hedge fund in South Africa and the Vice Chairman is Virgin Wines (and Lincoln fan). American Harvey Jabara's family committed £3m IIRC a couple of years ago to be spread over 'x' amount of years and his mate Ron Fowler invested £2m earlier this year (he seems to donate $10m's at time to causes over in America, his Company have/had the distribution for Coors and Heineken). Jabara runs a hedge fund and both he and Fowler are in sports business in America with the O'Malley family (ex-LA Dodgers).

It looks like another new investor has come on Board recently, another Lincoln fan who is Co-Chair of the Gorilla Glue Company but I can't work out whether it's new money or he's bought someone else's shares.

We spend a decent amount on club infrastructure though, that's run into millions over the last 6 or 7 years. We've built/rebuilt/refurbished/expanded (delete as appropriate) the training ground, 5G pitches, complete rebuild of the pitch/drainage/irrigation systems, restaurants, exec boxes, concourses, electronic advertising hoardings, gantries, dugout areas, tunnel, changing rooms, bar areas, car parks. The CEO was saying at a fans forum a couple of weeks ago that we're drawing up some early plans to rebuild the stand behind the dugouts to gauge the feasibility of it (I can do that for them, it'll be fucking expensive!).

Our wages (all wages, not only players) have never been over 100% of turnover or anything daft like that. We've been caught out pretty much every season in L1 really with injuries and this is the first season where we've pushed the boat out a bit further and are running with a squad of 23/24 rather than 20/21 and investing more in permanent players, only having a couple of loan signings as well rather than five.

It'll be interesting to see what it settles at, that figure is if there isn't any cup revenue, player sales or further add-ons from previous deals that come in - we have 16/18 players with various bonuses/clauses still 'live'.

I think we're hanging our hat on Erhahon filling a decent chunk of that, he'll end up being our record sale by far when he leaves in either January (preferably not) or the summer.

Maths are frightening really aren't they. All the TV money, gate money, sponsorship etc. All dwarfed when paying about 30 people's wages.
This can't go on.
Charlton lose close to £1m a month, we don't own the stadium at yet somehow the club was bought for £12m last season - makes 0 sense.

I have no idea on what we would lose, we actually made a profit last season and will make a bigger one this year after making around a million in transfer fees.

Now we are obviously fortunate to be within the One Call Group, and that brings the sponsorship benefits from that group of companies that make the small profit last season possible. Unfortunately one thing our owners do lack on is financial transparency in the accounts, but I am fairly confident it’s not to the tune of what Lincoln are losing - it used to be massive 5+ years ago.

To be fair we are spending an unknown sum on the Bishop Street stand redevelopment, but I highly doubt that is being paid through the club, another benefit of being owned by wealthy owners, plus directors who’s finance and expertise also contribute.

Everyone seems to make notable losses and yet I've never known a more active time for clubs getting investment, especially from foreign businesspeople who presumably know how to make money. I'm certain there's some loopholes somewhere around writing off losses in one part of your group or something.

we only made a profit last financial year because the John Radford Stadium Company only charged the club £2k rent per game instead of the previous £10k per game.

there is many other reasons why we made a profit than a arbitrary rental fee charged to the club, to a company owned by the same person as the club.

The benefits of the fee changing. tax maybe?

Far more than 30 people at clubs. On top of players and football staff (manager, coaches, analysts, sports science, medical, recruitment), there are the commercial, legal, governance and financial staff, media, club shop, ticket office, ground staff, academy sides, women side.

Last year you got £2m+ from One Call for sponsorship.

I think we can all agree though that football finances are pretty mental. Our CEO reckons that come the end of the year they'll be new spending controls agreed for L1 and L2 ready for the 2025/26 season.

Yeah but it’s not all inflated money, sponsoring the stadium, shirt, everything else is actually worth something for One Call.

I’m interested to see if anything comes in is actually iron clad, I’m skeptical it will be.

We have 18 non playing staff on the payroll, most of those get 'normal' wages rather than the gazillions the players are on.
Sounds like you are OK with your model?

Transfer fees as we know it may be over come close of play tonight.........If that happens every Academy will close over night and i wager a guess players wages will plummet.
This league finances are toxic but go into the Championship and some teams are at the last chance Saloon

Whereas i agree with that, surely it has to be the championship also.

Not sure wages will plummet. Agents will find a way to make sure players squeeze every penny out of the clubs

If you cannot coach a player and sell him on, what is the point
No transfer fee they just move on when they like.....It will kill football
