League 1 Promotion Thread

Hi mate.

The general consensus among Town fans is that we have been sussed, or found out. We play a very specific brand of football, a style that is probably the most attractive in the division, but unfortunately it can be effectively limited (see Oldham, Chesterfield, Rochdale, Gillingham). We stick religiously to it and there is no plan b, so when a team plays for a draw or sneaks in front, we often struggle as, for all of our fancy footwork and frankly beautiful play, things ultimately break down in the final third. We are guilty of over-playing it at times and really should have put more teams to the sword, but it's the refusal to shake things up when struggling/behind that has really been our downfall recently.

I think our confidence has taken a bash which means that our more creative players are trying to keep things simple but our passing is sloppier, our defending shambolic - whenever the ball goes towards our goal we collectively shit our pants. Its not happening at the moment but we have 12 games left to turn it around. Time will tell whether it happens, or we become another Tranmere Rovers!

I have no doubt that you're probably 100% correct. There's no denying that Swindon do play some lovely football at times but, sadly, that doesn't tend to be enough to get out of a league like this.

City play great football at times too, and I love to see it. But at the same time we're also able to play ugly. I've lost count of the times where opposing fans have said "City weren't that good", but we've come away with the 3 points.

As you have said, you need a "Plan B".

Fully agree with all comments, we all want to see total football, but at the end of the day, scrapping and scraping points sometimes is the be all and end all..... To get out of this league and leave all the minions behind

Yep, we are without doubt the ugliest side to watch out of the top 4, but we are very effective. We also play some great stuff, but not very often. Personally. I'd prefer to see a shit 1-0 win than an entertaining 3-3 draw

Probably the wrong thread, but I've seen it mentioned - what's the problem with the 'Football Special' train?!

Okay, you can't have a drink, but is it that much of a desperation on a match day that you can't have a drink for just under two hours?!

People will drink before the train, and in pubs in MK, but will most importantly enjoy the game of football and the match day experience, is that not enough?

Personally, I think it's a fantastic offer by PNE, and I hope anyone who goes on it thoroughly enjoys the travel - not to mention that if Preston get a good result, there will be a train full of just Preston fans, which would be good fun.

Without wishing to take anything for granted, what once looked a far fetched wind up now looks like a possibility. Need to have made 5 points on MK by the end of that game.

If that was the case, would City players celebrate more or less exuberantly than the winners of the previous game?
