City to be promoted against Swindon?

Without wishing to take anything for granted, what once looked a far fetched wind up now looks like a possibility. Need to have made 5 points on MK by the end of that game.

If that was the case, would City players celebrate more or less exuberantly than the winners of the previous game?
That would be bittersweet revenge

It wont happen. Swindon will still have six games to play after that one, so we'd need to be 16 points clear of them going into that game in order to be in a position where beating them meant they couldn't mathematically catch us. Possible of course, given that we are currently 12 clear but we'd also need to be able to move 16 points clear of either Preston or MK Dons too. It's too big an ask and reeks a bit of arrogance to be honest.. i'd settle for just being promoted full stop!! (although I do hope we can wrap it up asap to avoid any drama)

Yes and we have more game than Swindon beforehand in order to gain 4 points on them so not arrogant at all for simply suggesting it's a possibility.

Gillingham just beat us on our own patch for the first time in 35 years. All runs end.

Never seen City beat us since I've been going regularly in 2004, 10 games.

Good point, not sure I've ever seen City beat Swindon either.

We had a similar v sign over Swindon in the early part of the last decade.. Think it was 8 games without losing to them or something then they turned it on its head in about 2005.

Yeah we failed to beat you in 7 matches between 2001 and 2004. August 2004 was Darius Henderson's debut when we won 1-2 at The Gate. Awesome day. Nobody knew anything about Henderson at that point.

If we don't beat Swindon by at least 3 goals then it would put a damper on the season

Yep I remember the early 00's under Wilson and they couldnt do much against us, the last 10 years have been hell as a City fan in Wiltshire at times. Favourite game was 01/02 Swindon 1-2 City, Peacock free kick boomer?

Think it all went downhill for us when Fallon scored that overhead from outside the box and Lee Miller missed an open goal from a yard!

The worst was doing the conga on a cold, wet, Friday night when Sankofa got sent off. Bad times.

Very bad Indeed, but we sent them down at the end of the season iirc

The best was the 1-1 at your place. We were already assured of the POs but the draw kept you out.

And you had so many chances as well. Loverly jubbly!

I'll never forget 'that' Fallon goal (one of many he seemed to score against) once he hit it I stood up and sarcastically cheered thinking it was going miles over......and then it dropped in! Safe to say I had a few funny looks!

We got relegated at Ashton Gate in 2006 (?). That's a particular bad memory of mine.

Was going to put this in the Away Support thread, but it's now locked, so - I've got a bit of a dilemma, with having to fork out for Wembley and such, I reckon I can just about scrape 2 away games more this season finance wise, but what ones?!

Deepdale sounds appealing, proper football ground and will be a huge game..

Boundary Park is a good away end, and all the PNE fans in there a few weeks ago looked fantastic..

Or Chesterfield, the last away game of the season, hoping it will be a bit of a party in there..

Or - next Tuesday, Yeovil, which is admittedly not far away at all, and would definitely be the cheaper option.

Decisions decisions...

Bare in mind away games are going to get more popular, so will you get priority on tickets? All well and good waiting for the later games but if you don't get priority then you may not get a ticket.

If I was you, bearing in mind the priority situation that hodge mentions, I would do Deepdale (4,500 tickets, no worries about getting one) and Oldham (3,500 ish)

Preston and Chesterfield. Either of those could be promotion or Championship clinchers, the others wont be.

Also why has the away support thread been locked? All looked harmless to me.

Most of the posts that caused it got deleted!

As for your dilemma, I'd go to preston as a certainty, and either Oldham or Chesterfield.. Probably the latter.
