I just thank the Lord I made the right decision who to support when I was 13.

Lived in Chippenham, had no allegiance to any club and went to my first game - Swindon v Bristol Rovers.

Just think . . .

If people want to use attendance as some measure of 'my club is bigger than your club' than a % of home attendance against population should be used.

Still just as pointless but with at least a bit of logic behind it.

On this basis, I think Burnley are the best supported team in England
Burnley's average crowd last year was 13,706 in a season in which they got promoted. Wigan have an average of 12,684 this year in a season in which they will likely be relegated. The population of Burnley is 87,000, Wigan is 97,000. One of those two I guess, although fuck me are Wigan tinpot.

They would be behind Sunderland for me

We used to average around 13-14,000 in our championship seasons and our population is similar to Burnley's. We would also fill the ground ever week in the prem, as most clubs would.

We've always edged it on the crowds front compared to Burnley since i've been following football, bar the odd season here and there, but obviously two stints in the Premier League (and they might stay up yet) has swung it in the Dingle's favour. There's fuck all between the two clubs in terms of fanbase really though, Burnley is a small town but East Lancashire is a decent catchment area.

I hate Burnley but there has always seemed to be some weird mutual respect between the clubs.

Read again - Saturday week. We do play Saturday week. Hone to Posh

Ah, I see what you did there. Intimating you'd win El Plastico

No way. We'll do English football a huge favour by burying them again for another season.

Bring on the El Plastico!

Sorry for going off topic, but it may be more iinteresting than the Bristol/Swindon sniping...

I remember a classic small away following about 25 years ago.

It was March. The spring rains had hit Rochdale. The Saturday home game against Cardiff had been postponed for a waterlogged pitch. It then rained hard and continuously for 72 hours - and Tuesday evening's match against the mighty Hereford went ahead on a swamp.

There may have been a few saner Bulls fans sheltering in the main stand, but the away end that night held 2. And an inflatable rubber dinghy they had brought with them...:)

Very little Bristol/Swindon sniping - yet.

Give it time, though.

For the record, I reckon we will draw or you will win. Cannot see us getting a result at your place regardless of losing Ben Reeves and Carl Baker to injury.

I do not understand why you are so confident though, we have a good record against you and we beat you 2-1 earlier in the season, and comfortably in the end at that.

Got to be confident or what's the point. We appear to be coming back into some kind of form and, let's be honest, you lot are a bit flakey

Well we scored 7 in our last two games so I would say we are also coming back into form (albeit against shite sides). We were only flakey for the same reason Preston were without Garner.

I meant your general, season after season, flakiness.

Anyway, isn't Ali supposed to be back Saturday

You lot have form for bottling recently too...probably why we are both behind Preston now after being so far ahead.

Yeah but whether he will start we're not sure. Probably not fit and if that is the case, I would rather have Lewis Baker.

I'm not bud, I know your away numbers are poor and 700 is quite good for you but it's low for a pivotal top of L1 clash in general.

With this being moved to saturday i know myself and 7 others cant go now. if it was on Friday i would be there but i cant leave at 8 and get home at 4-5ish on saturday when im moving house saldy! i didnt have moving booked in on Friday :(

I can't see Preston slipping up against 'Dale nor us at Oldham so it's down to the promotion also rans. A draw would be good for the leagues 2 best sides TBH. City and PNE.

I think the league table at the end of the season will decide who the best 2 teams are.

The Swindon game still huge for us - not in terms of necessarily competing with them, but for our title challenge.

Need to win it.
