Transfer Listed -
Liam Mandeville - was fantastic for us in league 2, seems to have been frozen out by Ferguson now for some reason. Think a league 2 club will come in for him.
Mitch Lund - was at Morecambe this season, didn’t do much, probably destined for non-league
Tyler Garratt - crap, classic Fergie signing

Released -
Andy Williams - should have gone last season, useless waste of wages.
Cedric Evina - I liked him, did well at Crawley last season
Matthieu Baudry - Bit disappointed about this, worries me when we’re releasing players like this as Ferguson disregards defenders and he’ll probably sign some league 2 crap as a replacement.
Craig Alcock - meh, not too fussed

I can’t disagree more with keeping NIcky Law but releasing Dieng.

Dieng’s a decent squad option, his all round ball retention is almost as good as Law’s, can’t think when he gives the ball away. I honestly don’t know what else Law is good at other than that. Dieng also carries a slight goal threat unlike Law. Dieng generally much better physically. I would imagine he will ask for less money than Law as well. It’s a no brainier for me if we only keep one.

Don't know whether it's nonsense, but apparently Olly Lee has turned a contract down from us. It would be disappointing considering we stood by him just over a year ago when he was getting abuse from all quarters.

Maybe the fact he was getting abuse from all quarters factors into it! Shows how fickle a fan base we have really.

A little disappointing if true but I think we should have been looking for an upgrade in his spot anyway. Technically a superb player and I’ll miss watching him when he is on song though.

Jones stood by him throughout. He could’ve been gone and in the wilderness last summer. One good season and he fucks off. Not really impressed.

"Joe Edwards has been offered a new contract while the Club have taken up the one-year option to extend the contract of Amadou Bakayoko.

Academy Player Dylan Parker has been offered a First Year Professional Contract.
Each player has until 10th June 2018 to either accept or decline the offer made, after which time the offer lapses.

Flo Cuvelier, Simeon Jackson, Reece Flanagan, Will Shorrock and Milan Butterfield have all been given free transfers and therefore been released. The Club would like to place on record our thanks to these players for all of their efforts and contribution during their time with the Club and we wish them well in the future.

The Club have made numerous attempts to extend the contract of Erhun Oztumer over the last 12 months. However, Erhun’s representatives have expressed a desire to explore alternative options and, while the Club remain open to negotiation, we respect that position.
All other players remain on contract beyond 30th June 2018."

Not on here which our reporter confirms is that Keates is willing to listen to offers for a few of our players, thankfully. Need to get as much dead wood out as we can and pray other teams will take players like Mark Gillespie, Luke Leahy and sadly Nicky Devlin, off our hands. I doubt we'd command a large fee for them (if any).

Yeah get your point but i dont think its a big blow. I think it gives us some scope to improve things in the midfield now. If he had stayed im not sure that would have happened but it forces our hand a little.

The midfield was a big part of our success last season, no doubt about that, but it could go missing at times, and Lee was a big part of that, especially those away games where we suddenly stopped being able to pick up wins. I always thought he was one of those players who when we were playing well, he would play well, but he wouldn't turn it around for you if things weren't going great.

Like i say, i think he would have been moved down the pecking order a little next season, especially when Berry is back and fit, with D'ath, Cook, and perhaps Gambin likely to leave also, I think we have some scope to move and get a real quality box to box player to play in the diamond, eventually opposite Berry.

Agree with this. I suppose the way to look at it was whether we could take him forward with us, to compete at the top end of the league and maybe the level above. I don't think he will; and as you say allows us some scope to improve in that area.

I'd like to have kept him no doubt and I'm sure most Luton fans would say the same, but he's not as irreplaceable as other players.

Rochdale
Here's Rochdale's:

Released:
Stephen Davies (excellent player, but injury prone and possibly on biggish wages for us)
Keith Keane (goodish last year, but injured virtually all season)
Niall Canavan (been injured all season, Ryan Delaney signed in January as a like-for-like replacement)
Reece Brown (utter rubbish)
Matt Kitching (the most surprising on the list - but never really nailed down a starting sport. Needs to decide whether he's a midfielder, left back or possibly centre back)

Offered contracts:
Harrison McGahey (good, and getting better with experience)
Andy Cannon (excellent - may not have gone to the last game if he hadn't been injured towards the end of the season)
Joe Thompson (utility midfield/forward, and club legend)
Matty Gillam (young forward)
Brad Wade (Youth team goalie)

McGahey and Cannon may well get offers elsewhere...

Our loanees have all gone back. Wouldn't surprise me if we have discussions with Posh about Brad Inman (potential fee/wages may be a problem), while Scott Wiseman is a pretty decent known quantity for right sided defensive cover/competition.

Wouldn't mind us having a look at McGahey, Preston lad and we could use another back-up centre back. Seems to have kicked on at Rochdale.

Ours is out now. Scott Cuthbert, Johnny Mullins, Lawson D'ath, Jordan Cook, Kavan Cotter all free to a good home.

Olly Lee signs for Hearts.

Glen Rea and McCormack offered new deals.

Slew of automatic and optional extensions taken up.

I'm sure all the top L2 clubs and probably some L1 clubs would be interested in Cuthbert, he's an outstanding L2 centre back on his day. Had a great season for us when fit last year but I suspect Jones wants someone better on the ball going forward. I think Glen Rea will be given the chance to make that right CB slot his own now with an extended run and Lloyd Jones as back up.

No great surprise with any that have left to be honest, Cuthbert perhaps marginally so, but good player though he is, Ive always got the impression he wasnt NJ's sort of centre half. Definitely looking for a better ball player there I would suspect.

Good that we had so many players with options in their contract for extensions on promotion too I think!

Reading between the lines I wonder if Shinnie will be back. Just says he is returning to Birmingham with nothing further to add. NJ has said he does want him here next season, I personally wouldnt be that fussed either way as he is a bit of a fair weather player.

Slightly gutted by Cuff, but might say more about our ambitions next season. Great player at L2 level; for a team pushing for promotion to the Championship, I’m not sure he would’ve lasted the journey.

So after all of our outs today, this is the state of our squad as it stands. Numbers wise, is there a squad in the division with as many signed up currently (24)?

Goalkeepers: Marek Stech, James Shea, Harry Isted
Defence: James Justin, Dan Potts, Lloyd Jones, Jack Stacey, Jack Senior, Frankie Musonda, Jack James, Akin Famewo, Alan Sheehan
Midfield: Alan McCormack, Luke Berry, Glen Rea, Pelly Ruddock, Luke Gambin, Arthur Read
Forwards: Danny Hylton, Harry Cornick, Jake Jervis, James Collins, Elliot Lee, Aaron Jarvis

1 x defender (Sonny Bradley?), 2 x midfielders (Andrew Shinnie, Anthony Wordsworth?) and maybe squeak out a forward. Plus a full back if Justin departs.

We need at least 3 midfielders for my money. Possibly 4 if Gambin goes.

100% need a DM as McCormack cannot be relied upon for even 30 games.
100% need a CM for the middle of the diamond to replace O Lee. I'd like 2x really as Berry will be out for a while and Gambin seems unlikely to make it at this point and may well be moved on.
Then we need an AM, whether that be Shinnie on a permanent or someone else.

Also a centre back obviously.

JJ will definitely leave so need to decide if Jack James is ready to play back up to Stacey (or possibly Musonda who we used at right back last pre season when JJ was injured).

I can't see us signing a forward this window although if it were up to me we would cut out losses on Jervis now and sign one.

As an aside, how the fuck do you get rid of the chat thing at the bottom of the screen on mobiles? Made this forum borderline unusable since the update.

Hope he stays with us for another season at least. The back 3 of McGahey/McNulty/Delaney has looked fairly solid, would like to see it develop for a bit longer.

Looking at our squad, none of our midfield have played first team football for anyone but us. I wouldn't mind signing an experienced, sensible, don't give the ball away type to join them - from the descriptionz on here and what brief bits Ive seen, either Law or Dieng at Bradford might do well here.

We need a CB, maybe 2. Definitely 2 midfielders, probably 3. Reckon he will splurge on a forward too.

I regard to JJ, and not to come across like an 'ITK' wanker here, he was set to go Brighton in January with a loan back however they tried to change the structure of the payments at the last minute and couldn't agree terms with Gary Sweet and it broke down. Barring a massive u-turn he's leaving this summer. If there is no loan back then we'd need a Right back too.

Splurging on a forward would be a waste IMO. Would much rather seen him splurge on a quality central midfield player or a quality replacement for Mccormack. The forward line of Collins/Hylton/Lee with perhaps Jervis or another raw youngster who they like backing up is fine for League 1.

McMahon released, wise by Blackburn to not bother last season, just like he wasn't bothered half of the season. Good riddance, not arsed about any of those released, Law another who flattered to deceive.

Overall happy with the list:

Released:

Nicky Law
Tony McMahon
Lukas Raeder
Rouven Sattelmaier
Reece Webb-Foster
Alex Laird

Offered new contract:

Colin Doyle
Timothée Dieng
Jordan Gibson
Ellis Hudson
Curtis Peters

Interesting to see what ours looks like when it comes out. We have a couple of very good players (Adelakun and Holmes) out of contract who won't sign a new deal now we haven't gone up. We will get a tribual fee for Adelakun when he leaves which probs won't be much. Theres some solid players like Tom Hopper who's contract is up and we most likely end up leaving.

The sad part is cloggers like Rory McArdle, Lee Novak and Josh Morris still have one (two in Rory's case) years left on their contracts. Morris decieves with his occasional worldie so we will probs scam some club out of some money for him. Novak and McArdle will be on too much to pay off.

Not to start an argument but are you a.little concerned that two of those three strikers you name have been very average in league 1 previously.

How many of the 92 teams don’t sign a striker in the summer window? I’d say probably low single figures.

Add into the mix Jervis and Cornick. The former has done fuck all since signing in Jan and Cornick, who is raw needs to improve his finishing if he’s going to make it as an out and out striker.
