Probably not, Reece highly rated CB that we are desperate for, played 5 games back end of last season for West Ham in the prem, dunno about Evans but we've lost billy Clarke and routis to injury so we need cover.

Seem like good signings on the face of it.But will parky play them.Lost count the number of loans parky has made, only for them to sit on the bench.

The summer started fairly well with some solid experienced signings in Martin Woods and Mat Sadler but most of those that followed were disappointing to say the least.

Mellon's approach at this stage of the season is also questionable.

The very successful 3-5-2 formation used last season has been discarded in favour of a flat back four and a diamond midfield. The current side, whilst looking fairly solid on paper, lacks the necessary flair and pace to hurt League 1 defences and, James Collins aside, our front players aren't proven at this level.

There is of course still time for him to recognise the deficiencies of the current formation and change it, although we don't look to have the personnel to revert back to 3-5-2 and worryingly he doesn't appear to have much faith in either of the natural wide players he signed this summer.

Many of our fans seemed very optimistic ahead of this season, but that wasn't and isn't a view I share. Whilst I still feel we have enough to stay in League 1 I don't see anything beyond a scrap in the lower part of the table as in our previous two seasons at this level.

One positive on the horizon is the return of Wesolowski and Knight-Percival which will be like two new signings, both proven campaigners at this level. The latter being a ready made replacement for Goldson whilst the next startlet from our youth setup, Welsh under-21 centre back Dominic Smith, is nurtured into the first team fold.

The sale of Goldson was unfortunately necessary to plug gaps in our finances as we can't continue to sustain the losses of recent seasons. We still have the other of our 'crown jewels' at the club in Ryan Woods, who will inevitably also follow Goldson out of the club to bigger and better things sooner rather than later.
Good summary that Matt, and as you stated to have Weslowski and Percival not far away from returning is a massive bonus. I am of the opinion had we not lost both to long term injuries at the turn of the year we would have won league 2!

I too think we will be ok this season, possibly more comfortably than you think (providing we don't put too many dredful performances in like Tuesday night) but I do recall at the beginning of last season you felt we would finish no better than midtable. We are only 3 games in!

Has Wesolowski been injured a lot for you during his time there?

That isn't correct, I didn't think we would challenge for automatic promotion last season but I did think we would challenge for the playoffs.

Hope the lad does well. There was an interview from his this morning which was brilliant to read. Can tell he was desperate to join the club and move into full time football.

Ineligible for Southend which will give him a week to settle in before Sheffield United next week. Not a bad tester for him if he gets on the pitch.

Wrong people to ask. You won't find any Crewe fan with a nice word to say about him. But we also aren't the best to ask because we haven't seen him play regularly for 4 years now. You're better off finding some Yeovil or Wycombe fans to ask, they'll likely have much nicer things to say about him.

Lazy, bone idle, mercenary, bags of talent and no application, big time Charlie. Sums it up I was in hospital the day he scored a hat-trick against Cheltenham, it has to be seen to be believed and all that...

We was linked with Yeates a few weeks ago, but its all gone a bit quiet on that front. It depends if Jobi McAnuff leaves us I think.

Maddison linked to Arsenal today after Brian McDermott was spotted watching him against Crewe and Walsall.

We've signed Liam O'Neil from West Brom for an undisclosed fee. Scunthorpe know much about him?

We have Cameron Gayle training with us. Could just be because he's young and local, mates with Sawyers/the WBA connection etc. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Smith sign him. He's young and could provide cover for Demetriou.

Very unlucky to be released by Town.

In my opinion he would have done a decent enough job for us in this division, as he did during a previous loan spell a couple of years back, and would have removed the need to spend unnecessary money signing Tootle when it wasn't required with Agogo offering a further option in that position.

Just the sort of player I would expect to thrive at Walsall if he gets a chance.

Huddersfield bid for Byrne rejected.

He may well go but it won't be on the cheap. A few years ago we'd have caved in at 300k.
