Jordan Stewart from Glentoran. Fee agreed apparently for the northern Irish striker.
As he's in my avatar may as well make a few comments..

He's best as a forward or central midfielder. Very confident in his own ability which shows in the attempts on goal he has. always wants the ball and support his attackers if playing midfield. a star in Northern Irish Football, an uncut gem for Swindon maybe?

If it happens, wish him all the best in a Swindon(and maybe GAWA)shirt.

Michael Turner supposedly confirmed today. Turner-Edgar partnership at CB is a wee bit better than the Collins-McEveley we had Vs Gillingham

Ironic coming from a fan who's chairman only pays HMRC when he fancies it :)

Anyway who care? I won't lose any money.

Always paid though, appears he's found a way to delay paying money without any repercussions tbh

We've just signed some Spanish bloke called Angel Martinez, been at Millwall and Blackpool previously.

So fans of Millwall and Blackpool, is he any good? Please say yes.
Blackpool fans loved him. Seemed a decent player whenever I saw him play for them.

Been tenuously linked to us as well. Last I read Ipswich were looking at him.

Be a huge loss for Colchester if he goes.

What's he like? Looking more and more like he's probably a Dunk replacement, who's soon to be on his way for big money. I was hoping we'd look for an up and coming League One centre half to complement our more 'veteran' options in that position, and this guy seems to fit the bill. POTS awards for last season would suggest he's decent?

He wouldn't really - he is the most dispensable part of our midfield. He goes missing a lot, doesn't get back to do the defensive side of the game, is too selfish and thinks he is much better than he is. He popped up with a few goals towards the end of last season which clouded a lot of people's judgement of him, and scoring the goal against Preston seemed to turn him into some sort of god-like figure on social media. He isn't.

Has potential, for sure, but I would happily cash in on him. Poor start to the season, got subbed on Saturday and threw a strop at the manager. The main rumour is that we've rejected a bid for him so he's kicking up a fuss. If someone wants to offer us a few hundred grand then feel free.

In the summer he was linked to Bradford and Swindon, recently linked with Coventry and Ipswich too for what it's worth.

Fair enough! I had seen a few comments calling him a talisman and a match winner which is why I'd assumed he was a key player for you.

As I say, a few goals towards the end of last season seems to have clouded many peoples' judgement of him. He obviously scored a really, really important goal which everyone will always remember him for, but seeing a number of comments on Twitter yesterday about how he was our best player last season etc were laughable to be honest. At the time his selfishness was costing us too many opportunities and, if it wasn't for getting a few goals, he would surely have been dropped.

He had started to develop a knack of timing his runs into the box just right which is why he popped up with a few more goals, but he is only effective if he gets up to support the forward more which he hasn't been doing, otherwise he can be anonymous. We've got Szmodics who has come through from the youth system who is probably better suited to that role off the main forward, he's less selfish and he works ten times harder than Moncur does. Or Darren Ambrose can move centrally in behind the striker instead.

Connor is an exceptional young talent.

He has all the attributes you would look for in a centre back. Pace, strength, strong in the air and in the tackle, excellent positionally and a good reader of the game and organiser of his fellow defenders. He's a footballer and loves to bring the ball out from the back but he can mix it if the uglier side of the game is required.

You'd be get getting an excellent player who is likely to only get better.

Cheers, you've certainly painted him a good light! Think I'll temper my expectations in spite of that, as it is still a step up, and we haven't actually signed him yet. But he sounds like a great prospect - won't say no to some pace at the back.

I doubt Moncur would get into our side at the moment. I'd leave it if he's gonna command a fee.

Mark Yeates training with us today.

Opinions, Bradford fans?

He's more of a winger isn't he, just that I know PP like to play the diamond formation and wondering whether that's why it didn't work out for him with you, or if it's just that he's shit?

I had a nose through Blue and Amber the other night...not a happy site currently. I have to be honest, I thought you'd make a few quality signings during the summer and learn the lessons from last time you were in league one. Now Goldson is out, JLAA/Barnett aren't consistently good for goals in League One - a struggle ahead again? For obvious reasons I'd like to keep you in League One permanently (and eventually it will be us that goes down not you - possibly even this season) but is there a bit of a 'yo-yo club' thing going on in Wales these days.. ;)

The summer started fairly well with some solid experienced signings in Martin Woods and Mat Sadler but most of those that followed were disappointing to say the least.

Mellon's approach at this stage of the season is also questionable.

The very successful 3-5-2 formation used last season has been discarded in favour of a flat back four and a diamond midfield. The current side, whilst looking fairly solid on paper, lacks the necessary flair and pace to hurt League 1 defences and, James Collins aside, our front players aren't proven at this level.

There is of course still time for him to recognise the deficiencies of the current formation and change it, although we don't look to have the personnel to revert back to 3-5-2 and worryingly he doesn't appear to have much faith in either of the natural wide players he signed this summer.

Many of our fans seemed very optimistic ahead of this season, but that wasn't and isn't a view I share. Whilst I still feel we have enough to stay in League 1 I don't see anything beyond a scrap in the lower part of the table as in our previous two seasons at this level.

One positive on the horizon is the return of Wesolowski and Knight-Percival which will be like two new signings, both proven campaigners at this level. The latter being a ready made replacement for Goldson whilst the next startlet from our youth setup, Welsh under-21 centre back Dominic Smith, is nurtured into the first team fold.

The sale of Goldson was unfortunately necessary to plug gaps in our finances as we can't continue to sustain the losses of recent seasons. We still have the other of our 'crown jewels' at the club in Ryan Woods, who will inevitably also follow Goldson out of the club to bigger and better things sooner rather than later.

Good player IMO.

Put him in a side that actually plays football, and he'll do very well.

He was top of the assist chart for us last season.

He was on decent money here.

You won't get many who have a good word about Yeates - has the occasional top draw goal in his bag but doesn't deliver anywhere near enough and probably thinks he's better than he is. He got slaughtered in his first season, labelled lazy but I always though that was a bit harsh because people just directly compared him to Kyle Reid who just ran up and down the line all day, saying that he still doesn't run much, head the ball or tackle, and his shoulder pops out once a game although I think we paid to get that fixed. By the sounds of it he's still living locally and training at a nearby hotel gym, Oldham's probably as good as he could hope for around here although I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign for Notts County or similar

It is rumoured that Swindon have put in a second bid for Tom Bradshaw.

Also apparently Brighton is sniffing around Rico Henry, doubt there's much in that yet though, probably just scouts watching how he gets on.

his shoulder pops out once a game

The idiot did that celebrating a goal for us nine years ago - penultimate game of the season, in the thick of an automatic promotion battle, he puts us 2-0 up at home to Rotherham and dislocates his shoulder celebrating it like Shefki Kuqi... such a moron. Had to miss the decider at Yeovil the week after which was a worry as he was a huge player for us that year.

Unless they pay beyond their means, what's the point of them targeting him? If he leaves, it would be to the Championship, not a team in the same league that have a sniff of promotion.. (unless Wigan or Sheffield United bid something with a M on the end +)..

We've offered 100k, Miles Storey and a bag of Tangfastics now. As long as you pay the fuel to get him down here this one's a done deal folks.
