Three signings, three defenders. Quite right as well, the defensive set up we had after the summer window was scandalously shit. If we can add another full back, a hard bastard of a central midfielder and a big forward (as well as getting Cody and Parker to sign new deals), then I'd be quite happy.

Looks like we losing Danny Ward to Cardiff for around an abysmal million pound but we are favourites to sign David Ball from Fleetwood which is a bit underwhelming tbh.

Agreed, with one more centre back as well. Especially with Zakuani swanning off every 5 minutes.

Think I read he's only likely to miss 5 weekends this coming season as there's no AFCON. I think I could deal with that to be honest, Ehmer and Lacey as a partnership would probably be ok. Remember we have Aaron Morris to come back who can also play CB.

Why? He's a decent player for this league.

Word from our end that Wigan are close to Signing Gavin Massey from us, Paul Cook originally was trying to sign him for Portsmouth.

We're believed to be interested in Massey, too.

Not suprising, he's already spoken to Colchester and Portsmouth from I've heard. Paul Cooks been after him for a while.

Will be a good signing for anyone at this level, far, far too good for League Two.

Far too good for League Two yet he was part of a team that finished bottom of L2? That's not a dig by the way I'm just playing devils advocate. Can he play on the wing and is he quick?

What's the deal with Hessenthaler these days?

I know we were linked in August and we really need some more midfield bite to complement our awesome triangles.

Says a lot about the quality of the league to be honest.
Eh? He was probably Fleetwoods best player and they finished third in the league. Get over yourself.

McArdle to sign for Scunthorpe after they offered him "at least 50% more" than what we did

Thank you for proving my point. When David Ball is the best player of the team that finished third in the league you know it's utter dross.

It's not me saying he's good because he's playing for Fleetwood though, it's me saying it because I've watched a lot of games at this level over the last 5 years and he's impressed every time, including when the gods of Wigan were in this league, so I don't really get your snobby viewpoint.

We have about 10 similar midfielders and Hess is one of them, with no discernable difference to set him apart. Having said that, I like him. He's technically good, very composed and delivers a decent set piece. We're going to try and shift at least a couple of the midfield out this summer, although I think he'll probably end up staying.

Billy Clarke to sign a 2 year deal with Charlton for a fee in the region of 6 figures. Sounds like a good deal for the club. Anything around £100k fee and his wages means the club have an additional £280k to spend on wages.

As mentioned above, McArdle is going to Scunthorpe.

Our approach to this years recruiment is youth - paying small fees and average wages. It could pay off, but could quite easily go the other way. I'm a little nervous, in truth.

We must have a few quid to spend, given a few small windfalls we've received recently. Andre Wisdom looks like he could be Derby bound for £4m - we'd receive £800k. £250k from Huddersfield due to their promotion, as part of the Wells deal. Play-offs said to have given us circa £400k. Just short of 19,000 ST's sold, most in the clubs history.

It all means sod all like if you don't get things right in pre-season - but of course our chairman are reiterating the previous owners in the respect that we have 'no money' - or at least it seems that way. The vast majority of City fans are becoming increasingly negative because of it.

We need a decent signing.

Interesting summer at Bradford, Meredith, McArdle and Clarke all seemed like mainstays for them.

Cost cutting or just time for a squad overhaul?

Looks to me like cost cutting, that said I'm delighted to get rid of Clarke for £100k fine business if we actually reinvest it.

Gutted to lose Meredith and McArdle however, Meredith we didn't have much choice as we lost him to a championship club. But to lose McArdle to Scunthorpe is a real blow to the majority of fans tbh, we should be looking to beat of clubs in our league for our key players regardless of whether they are prepared to give him a wage rise or not.

But it will be an interesting Summer ahead, not panicking personally as it's only June and I won't to see who we bring in first.

Local rag today says we are in for McArdle but seems they are just late to the party if Scunny is a done deal.

McArdle getting over double what we were paying him, Christ, he's a solid L1 centre half, he's not Virgil van Dijk

If Scunny are doubling his wage then not a lot we can do about him leaving really. Crazy stuff.

If it is true regarding him doubling his wages then fair enough, I wouldn't expect the club to double the wages of a 30 year old who hasn't played above this level. Regardless of how good he has being over the years.

Gutted about McArdle to be fair. Players like him with his experience are the type I would be keeping, but obviously not at the price Scunthorpe are offering.

We need to sign a couple soon, pre season is only a month away.

Unless Bradford were paying McArdle peanuts, we're not going to be doubling his wages.

Nothing is sorted yet anyway. It's apparently not gonna be done until he gets back from his holidays. Anything can happen between then, hope we do sign him though.
