When did Oxford become Real Madrid?

Pretty sure if Preston wanted him enough, they would have paid for the lad.

Do you seriously think you have to be Real Madrid to turn down an offer from Preston? As Marked Ox says, it's clear Preston would have had to beat their record fee to get him. Let's not pretend they weren't priced out the market by little old Oxford.

Does he have 18 months left, or do you have an option to extend his current deal by a year? Think i've seen some rumours suggesting you do.

Appreciate that I've already fully formed my opinion of your common sense, but what difference does it make? We know you are interested. We know he'd be your best player. We would just take the option.

Either way, doesn't matter. Absolutely no option in place.

The Nick Powell story is good for all of us in all seriousness, because he's still a L1 player. Clubs like Bristol Rovers are selling their players at 2010 prices and it distorts the reality - if you're selling a top l1 player to a higher league, your starting point should be seven figures. Powell might be on a different level but it's a high profile case and serious clubs should learn from it.

Problem is our players were out of contract so 400k plus add ons and sell on clause is pretty much the best most would get.

Otherwise bodin would have been 1m easily

He won’t and he won’t obviously fears playing for a bigger club :box::fl:
Playing for so called bigger clubs hasnt helped him in the past. He has played at Crewe, United, Us, Hull amd Leicester. The only period he has performed is at Crewe and us. Why would he wanna leave us. These are his best days. I dont blame him for turning down Brighton, at the end of the day we will both be inthe Championship next season....

I think he has an inherent fear he obviously doesn’t back himself to perform when the going gets tough

It’s the opposite with him. He’s a big game player, our top scorer in Europe, scored two beauties against Bolton, just took the piss out of two Premier League teams, won the playoff final for Crewe years back. He’s not likely to play well on a Tuesday night at home against little Doncaster though. He just can’t be arsed in games like that especially when he gets double marked and kicked all game. We’ve got Gillingham on Saturday, I bet he’ll be rubbish.

A player having just 12 months left on his contract would make a club more likely to cash in on him, probably at a lower price than he would have been valued if he had 2 years left. Common sense really.

Having 6 months left in January is a different story though as the selling and buying club might be more willing to wait for a tribunal.

Ledson would have been signed as Pearson's understudy initially, to cover for when he is suspended, which is often.

To be continued... maybe.

But we would always exercise the year option, so PNE wouldn't get the chance to wait for a tribunal in six months. We would get 12 more months from the player, and we would get more from the tribunal because we would have developed him for another year. Why on earth do you think we would not do that?

Whether he had six months and our option, or 18 months, would in practice have no consequence for Preston.

If you listen hard enough you can hear the fee that Preston have to pay in the summer ticking up.

What are you even going on about? you said there was no option to trigger an extra year on his contract which is all I asked.

Shrimpurh, bit weird Robinson turning moves down yesterday? That said, probably isn't much between bench at a L1 Club or bench at a L2 one.

Ron Martin stated your chairman took a while to come back on your initial interest in Theo and in the meantime he had given Robbie Cowling his word that he would only agree to loan him to Col U. Theo obviously rejected going to Colchester and only would go to Lincoln but by the time you came back in for him on deadline day Ron didn't want to go back on his word to Cowling. Quite cute.

I think we were in for another striker but that one broke during the day but we might not have had any choice if we knew about Colchester.

Commendable in a way that he wanted to keep his word, but if the player doesn't want to go then it's a pointless one!

We have ex ipswich/brentford veteran Jonathan Douglas on trial. Ripe age of 36. We do need some experience in the middle, but hearing his legs have gone. Will see

Has he been playing elsewhere this season as otherwise basic fitness would be an issue?

MK Dons relying on 86 year Nigel Reo-Coker to keep them up.
