Simpson and Harley really were pointless signings as both were on the decline for some time. JMT is very good but has had a lot of injuries in his career...Wheeler seemed to be doing ok come the end of his loan. Would you want him back?

God Harley is awful, Tisdale must have caught him shagging his wife or something, there's no explanation why he gets so much game time but does so little on the pitch. Simpson was an odd signing to begin with, but in the end was the type of player you bring on to bully defences and be awkward for them. Did it perfectly when we beat Mansfield to win promotion, drew three or four fouls in the 94th minute down their end.

Wheeler did okay, clearly something about him. Not sure he'd want to come back though, he seems like he wants to prove himself at QPR. He would probably cost a fair bit, and I'd rather we paid to get Rhys Healey back on a permanent from Cardiff.

I actually bumped into Harley in Bristol on Friday and he’s actually taller than I expected but the bloke is soooo laid back it’s unbelievable. A lot of talent and at one time was one of the best players in L1 but is completely past it now.

I can’t see Wheeler making it in the Championship. Good player but lacks the ability to make it higher than L1 imo. I suppose he’s on good money so it may be hard for teams to match that...Healey would be a great signing but wonder if Cardiff will give him a chance in the Championship.

Heard that Ted Smith will be joining us from Southend, given we've lost our first choice, back up and third choice keepers we need a new one.

Any good, Shrimpers?

Paul Downing to Pompey is doing the rounds up here, I hope not as I thought we might have a good chance of signing him.

Hopefully wont matter, you will be back in L2 after one season.

To be really honest I doubt we will be. The squad is stronger now than the one that was relegated, especially defensively (we had the third best defence in the country after Liverpool and Middlesbrough this season until December when we lost four defenders to injury).

If we can keep either of Aneke and Agard, as well as make a couple of decent attacking additions I'm confident we'll finish mid-table or higher, which will be unfortunate for many wishing us bad fortune.

I really can’t see MK going down. Tisdale is a good manager and he has a strong budget to work with. As Franchisor says, a lot will depend on Aneke and Agard but if they leave they will have the clout to sign decent replacements....

In fact, I wouldn’t be too surprised if they push the top 6 but too early to tell at this stage.

Can't find anything on this, but looks like we were sniffing around him in January. We're definitely in the market for defenders so it does add up.

Shrewsbury sign Ethan Ebanks Landell on a 3 year contract from Wolves.
Pleased with that signing.

Good signing for Shrewsbury. He did well for Rochdale and was one of the reasons we stayed up. I'd guess we just couldn't match the terms that Shrewsbury offered , and rightly, we haven't decided to overspend.

Was good at youth level representing England a couple of times. Only saw him a few times in the first team due to injury mainly.. He needs to be more commanding and become a bit thicker before he is going to be a good goalkeeper but still a baby really. Plenty of potential

Sounds alright to me. Most of our better keepers over the last few years have been of that ilk - Jason Brown, Gazzaniga, Holy - all came in with potential rather than being necessarily a name and all did well for us. Stuart Nelson is the only one I can think of who came in as an established lower league keeper and lived up to expectation.

Honestly one of (if not THE) worst defenders we've ever had. Has a good goalscoring rate for a CB, but the defensive side of his game for us at least was terrible. Clumsy, slow, misplaced backpasses, gave away free kicks frequently in dangerous areas etc.

Wasn't just us, ask Sheffield United fans during his season on loan with them and they'll say he was great for the first half of the season due to scoring 5 goals from CB, but was a liability defensively.

Since then, seems he had a good spell at Rochdale so hopefully he's sorted himself out.

Matt Clarke is seemingly off to Brighton. It had better be for a shed load of cash.

Christy Pym signs for Posh. Great signing and at 24 has his best years ahead of him....

Does he command his box ?
Is he vocal ?
What's his distribution like ( hands & feet ) ?

Both of our current keepers are excellent shot stoppers but lack most of the above + throw in erratic mistakes so hopefully Pym ( if gets in the team ) is an upgrade !

Very vocal and does command his box well. He rarely drops crosses or anything dodgy like that. He’s decent with the ball at his feet but I’d say he biggest weakness is the quality of his distribution, but that can be worked upon.

He’s only 24 so his best years are ahead of him and he is a superb shot stopper. Very good signing for you.

Posh always seem to have a quality transfer window. I'd have been very happy bringing in Beevers and Pym. Pym definitely one of the top 3 keepers in L2 this season (and probably the best in L2 last season).

I bloody hope we’ll be getting a hefty sell on clause! I’m still baffled that McCarthy let him go!

Sounds like James Norwood is off to Ipswich.

Supposedly in Magaluf with Tranmere teammates at the moment and that’s why it’s not been announced yet.

Hasn’t worked for them though. They seem to buy individuals, is that a fair comment?

Yeah Norwood is off to Ipswich. Been offered 9k a week with a large signing on fee. We'd struggle to even offer a third of that.

Thanks for the memories James.

Nearly half a million a year in league 1. Ridiculous.

I missed Posh signing Tadsemir from Fylde, we've been linked in that past, meant to be a very good prospect.

Posh have also signed Dan Butler from Newport. How many signings is that already? Can't blame Evans for signing a load last summer when they have a chairman who thinks he's playing Football Manager...

We've signed Brennan Dickenson from Colchester. No idea who he is or if he's any good, but he was Colchester's Player of the Year in 2017, he's left footed and can play in several positions.

Used to love watching him bomb up and down the wing pinging in crosses. Believe Col U played him in a slightly more advanced role than we did and he was a regular scorer. Very good signing that.

We've signed Brennan Dickenson from Colchester. No idea who he is or if he's any good, but he was Colchester's Player of the Year in 2017, he's left footed and can play in several positions.

He was phenomenal in 2016/17 playing as an attacking winger on the left, he had everything - pace, power, wicked shot, perfect delivery. He would bulldoze past full backs for 90 minutes, scored quite a number of screamers and could whip in a perfect ball from any angle. Best left-sided player in the division and if he hadn't picked up a serious injury with a few games to go I'm confident he would have moved to the Championship that summer.

He hasn't quite been the same since then though and has been in and out of the side since coming back from the injury. He's also been played a bit deeper as more of a left back/left wing back for much of that time and hasn't been able to have quite the same impact. He would always have been worth persevering with though knowing what he was capable of before his injury and it was incredibly frustrating how much time he spent on the bench during last season.

If you ask him he will tell you he is an attacking winger who can cover defensively rather than a wing back. Get him in the advanced role and back to his form of the other season and he will be a really excellent signing.
