So despite having no owner, being under a transfer embargo, and facing the very real prospect of liquidation on July 31, we had Damien McCrory on trial for us today.

Can any Burton fans provide an insight? Good enough for NL?
Haven’t seen him play in several years but I’d guess that he’s more than good enough! Would’ve liked him myself.

We're trying to sign Anthony Grant from Shrewsbury - What did he do to be binned off by them?!

We're trying to sign Marvin Ekpiteta from your, what's he like?
He was superb for us in Non League and massive reason why we won the league last season, ball playing centre back who is generally quite good at all aspects of his defending in the lower leagues. He can be very rash sometimes though, he conceded 4 penalties I think last season because he pressed the self destruct button, but I see no reason though why he cannot cut those errors out of his game.

Not sure if we'll sell him in this window unless silly money is offered, but he is an exciting prospect. Personally I think he is better staying with us for one more year, where is all but guarenteed a first team place.

Sounds a bit like Ajayi who we just sold to WBA so I can see why we would be interested, cheers for comment.

No one quite know what has gone on. His contract automatically renewed for an extra year due to number of appearances and everyone thought we would see him back for pre-season. The club have said he had a dental operation and that explained his absence and then announced he wouldn't feature at all this season and was training with the youths. Really weird as hes a really good player and was very important for us last season.....but I'm sure he's one of our better paid players and we can;t afford to have him not playing for a whole season.

We are finished in the transfer market according to Tisdale. We have spent most of our (competitive) budget he says (however much that was) and he is happy.

It doesn't look like Ben Reeves will be signing with us but he is still training with us and I do wonder why he seems to be struggling to find a club.

Lucky you we haven’t even started yet

We have also signed midfielder Jacob Gardiner-Smith (non league hopeful from Hendon/St Albans City), and have agreed season-long loans for QPR's Giles Phillips (CB) and Paul Smyth (CF).

22 year old goalkeeper Iverson has signed on a season long loan from Leicester.
He is one that Warne has been chasing for months so he becomes the new "Rodak" for this season.
I hope he does as well.
Any good Oldham fans?

Gardiner Smith has had an interesting career for only being 22 - started off in Russia of all places!

Tisdale used to say similar with us and then we’d sign someone 24 hours later. Expect Reeves to sign soon!!

Aha, OK. That's his MO is it?
It also wouldn’t be a bad thing. We’re perhaps a ‘Reeves’ away from having a really good balanced squad that can mix it up a number of different ways. I’d still like us to sign him or a similar player, and perhaps David Wheeler back, but he’d be fairly expensive I can imagine.

Should hear today about a decision on Mikael Mandron who's been on trial. He's done ok and we're pretty light up top so I'd expect him to get a deal - played in both weekend games against Charlton and Millwall (scoring in the latter) and obviously has done enough impressing to still be with the club on trial. Still would leave us needing another forward, a full back option and maybe another wide man, but we're nearly there.

It’s my considered opinion that we’re looking somewhat shit.

yes, that's true, but I thought it sounded a bit misleading to say, "ex-CSKA Moscow and Zenit", I don't think he was exactly a first team regular.

Walsh looked a more than able deputy against Millwall on Sunday - don't see why we can't go with him as back up when we've had Hadler all last season. Hanlan, Ndjoli and List can all play through the middle but yes, we need more there. Mandron looks to be one, plus another you'd like to think.

From what I've seen of Walsh looks like he can do a job as back up, expect we would go into the emergency loan for another keeper if needed, still expect 2 strikers to arrive this week and another left back

Close to signing 21 year old winger Trevor Clarke from Shamrock Rovers and they sound gutted about it as well, suppose to be really highly rated.

To be fair, Shamrock fans told us Graham Burke would walk into our first eleven.

You signed a few decent ones from that division in recent seasons tbf, hopefully he's gonna be a decent one.

It's a market worth tapping into, especially for L1 sides.

Browne is one of the best attacking mids in the Champ but we signed him when he was 18 and developed him.
Maguire is class but injuries have messed up his time here.
Horgan was a good L1/ SPL winger who fell a bit short of making the grade in the Champ.
Burke could probably do a job in this league in the right set up.
Boyle and O'Connor were gash, both back in Ireland.

We've got couple of youth players signed from over there as well, one has just been offered a pro contract.

Bit of a lottery but low-risk.
