We'll be making a signing pretty early on in the transfer window by the sounds of it.

A name mentioned on our forum is Alfie Kilgour, Bristol Rovers centre back, is he a prospect?

Please take Billy Bodin back. Swapsies.

Yes he is. Ok we will take Billy back plus a million -- And that figure includes the extra you should have paid us originally.

Along with Norwich and Luton, £5m should do it and before you say anything we’ve turned down bids of over £4m already.

Signed Lloyds Jones, former Luton and Liverpool, Centre back until end of season on a free. Racic has been sent back to Brentford and are arranging to have his loan terminated, Sheehan signs new contract until end of season on permanent player/coach terms. We've also released a youth-teamer and taken Nuttal off the registered squad (which indicates we're still paying for him, despite being injured for the full term of the loan)

Has a clanger in him, but still young and not really had a full season under his belt yet.

Rather swop with Jayden Stockley - Loved Bodin when he was here but feel we saw the best of him

Sounds like when we signed Jordan Storey.

Stockley is under contract so won't be leaving, Bodin will be released in the summer, he was just never good enough for the Championship so maybe he's still got it at this level.

Kilgour definitely isn't a solid rumour, just a name that popped up.

Ability-wise, Bodin was/is easily good enough for the Championship but injuries seem to have taken their toll. Even when he first joined us it was on a short-term contract to prove his fitness but seems to have caught up with him again sadly.
Kilgour was a revelation last season when he first came into the side, not so much this season but I think he is our best CB (that aint saying much though!!) - has played RB too

He arrived fully fit and bang in form, he just wasn't up to it, too slow and too predictable.

You need more than some nice turns and tidy feet to perform in the Championship, we've got Josh Harrop who we signed from United too, technically superb and much better than Bodin but can't apply it, so hardly gets a game.

Don't you think football's gone mad when £5 million is being quoted for a League One CM in his mid 20s?

A fantastic player by all means. But it's just barmy. Don't think Donny have sold anyone for more than £2 million before have they?

Matt Mills to Reading £2.5m, he’s 24 our Captain with still a long contract, 5 goals and 4 assists so far this season, he hasn’t asked to leave, we don’t want to sell him, not in his prime yet so no I don’t think its ridiculous

No way we’d be chucking that money around so you can count us out of the running!
I’m sure both yourselves and Preston are chancing your arm given the current climate hoping we are desperate for the cash but add QPR, Norwich and probably Barnsley again into the mix it will be whoever meets our valuation.

Game has just moved on so far in the last decade in terms of off pitch finances, we sold Jack Stacey and James Justin both for more than that, although that was in the summer post promotion so not direct comparison. They were fullbacks as well so arguably not as impactful a position as Whiteman.

5 million isnt that much if you think he makes the difference in getting you promoted or competitive at the top end of the championship and the potential riches that provides, still quite a bit out of our price range though.

There is no way any team without parachute payments should be paying that under the current circumstances.

I don't think Luton would be interested unless they believed they could get a deal for less than £2m, but even then I'm not sure we could justify it unless another player is moving on.

All fair comments but the price reflects his importance to us and the fact he has a long contract left and neither he or the club have shown any interest in him leaving.

Journos here think a deal can be done for around £1.5m and him and his agent are keen on the move.
A move back to the NW appeals.

Rumours Josh Harrop is going to Hull on loan.
Think he'll stand out in L1, technically very good, good set piece taker and pops up with goals.
Just can't get his around tracking back, or being effective off the ball.
Hopefully he does well and Hull buy him in the summer, Alex Neil has no time for him it seems.

There are going to be virtually no transfers during this transfer window aside from those who can afford to spaff money up the wall. Clubs are not willing to sell and clubs above are skint.

I see also today MacAnthony is laughing at Rangers' £2m offer for Siriki Dembele. He's clearly a very good player, but has scored 5 goals and 5 assists so far this season and only 18 months on his contract - not exactly taking off into the stratosphere-type performances. Look what happened to Maddison - didn't cash in at the right time and a potential £5m unrealised.

We’re looking at 5 new signings. Pity about the other 6, though.

If Whiteman had 18 months left our position might be different but he’s still got 30 months left, as it stands no clubs have made contact in respect to him so far this window

I think it's very unlikely we'd take a midfield player who doesn't work off the ball. We play a press and everyone has to work hard. We already have a technically good player who doesn't work hard enough (Samuelsen), we don't need another one.

Moult might go out on loan to earn a move but he's still injured. Nugent is anyone's but location is a factor for him.
